Chapter 350: The Succubus’s First Day at Work
In the evening, the streets of Mage Quarter were empty, and there were few people in the gardens.
Jesse walked along the road, feeling uncomfortable all over as if he had wool growing on him. He thought that being turned into a sheep by Malin during the day might mean he was running on a big grassland in his dreams at night.
At night, even under the Detect Demon ability, Molofeel’s shadow was not easy to see clearly.
She cautiously made her way along the edge of the street, while the passersby chatting on the roadside in the distance completely ignored her.
Ultimately, the apprentices and apprentice mages relaxing here at night were either not sensitive enough to demons or Molofeel was too skilled at hiding her abilities for them to notice.
After leaving the area where the Wizard’s Sanctum was located, no one noticed anything wrong. Upon arriving at the deserted street where The Slaughtered Lamb tavern was, Jesse felt much more relaxed.
Upon entering the tavern and going to the basement, Jesse found Zardeth, Surena, and Erlan waiting for him, with Ursula sitting on the side reading a book.
"Sorry, I’m late," Jesse said.
"Jesse," Erlan stared straight at the entrance to the basement passageway and asked, "You said you were bringing a succubus, right? Where is she, or should I say, he?"
"Succubus can turn invisible, Erlan," Surena reminded him. "Have you forgotten what I told you about Gakin? And if she can’t hide, how did we bring her to the Mage Quarter?"
"You’re right," Erlan nervously cleared his throat, his eyes scanning the surroundings. He said, "Does this mean, your succubus is already around us?"
Jesse said, "Molofeel, you can come out now. It’s safe here, we’re all friends."
"Molofeel…" Surena softly repeated the name.
The succubus stepped out from the shadows, she glanced at everyone in front of her, then looked at Jesse and asked, "So, this is where I’ll be working?"
"You don’t like it?" Jesse asked.
Molofeel looked at the fire pit in the middle of the hall and said, "If that’s what you wish, then I can like it."
"You won’t charm us, will you?" Surena said worriedly. "Ms. Molofeel, I’m sorry, I’m not used to dealing with a demon as… beautiful as you."
Molofeel smiled and said, "My master forbids me to charm you, so I won’t do that."
Zardeth kept looking at the succubus’s back, seeming curious about Molofeel’s broken wings.
It was not just him who was interested, Erlan asked, "Maybe I shouldn’t ask, Jesse, all the other succubi have a pair of magic wings on their backs, but this lady’s back…" Hearing this question, Molofeel’s eyes narrowed at him, making the tall man suddenly unsure where to put his hands, uncomfortably shifting his stance.
"That doesn’t matter, Erlan," Jesse said. "You just need to know she’s also a succubus. I believe she has the ability to help us subdue the summoned demons."
"I was just curious, not doubting her strength or anything," Erlan raised his hands.
"Alright, it’s getting late," Zardeth stood up and said, "Since Jesse is here, shall we begin?"
"I’m ready anytime," Erlan picked up a prepared long fork next to him and said, "This time we must be more careful than before."
Everyone prepared their potions and magical materials and headed to the practice room. Jesse walked at the back, sensing that even though everyone tried not to pay too much attention to the succubus, like by looking away or acting naturally, it was actually quite unnatural.
Ursula slowly approached Jesse and discreetly glanced at Molofeel walking behind Jesse, whispering, "You never introduced your friend to me, Jesse."
"We all have our secrets, right?" Jesse joked.
The alchemist knew he didn’t want to mention where he learned alchemy before hinting at it, but still said, "That can’t be mixed together… Jesse, summoning such a demon means a lot to us."
Jesse nodded and said, "I admit I shouldn’t have kept this from you, it’s because of what happened with Gakin that made me hesitate, and I have already explained it to Zardeth."
"Okay, I understand how you feel," Ursula nodded in agreement.
Walking into the practice room, setting up the Soulstone and the ring as before, Molofeel kept staring at the ring. Jesse noticed her gaze and asked, "What’s wrong?"
"It looks good, I can sense what’s hidden inside," Molofeel said, "But it may not attract a very powerful Sayaad, master, it’s best not to expect too much."
After speaking, she tilted her head and glanced over.
Jesse understood what she meant, realizing she was here for fun, not for serious matters.
However, now she clearly felt like she couldn’t even find any fun.
"This is just the beginning," Jesse comforted her, "There will be things you like in the future."
Zardeth nodded and said, "Right now we can only make some initial attempts."
While speaking, he drank the Shadow Protection Potion and double-checked the spell, asking, "Is everyone ready? Remember the potions and everything."
Everyone nodded with serious expressions, especially Erlan.
Taking the half bottle of Shadow Protection Potion handed to him by Surena, he drank it and immediately picked up the iron tongs, as if prepared to grab the demon as soon as it appeared.
But Jesse was much more relaxed than last time.
After receiving confirmation from everyone, Zardeth began the summoning ritual. The Soulstone dimmed as before, and Jesse noticed Molofeel’s gaze shifting to the side, following his line of sight.
The room seemed to be covered by some shadow, and the burning lamps flickered.
"Where am I?!"
The room brightened again, and in a corner, an angry voice roared. Everyone present was startled, even Jesse felt his scalp tingle from the shouting.
A naked succubus flapped her wings to the other side of the room, pressed against the wall and angrily yelled something in a demonic language at Molofeel.
Erlan raised his iron tongs to strike, but the succubus screamed at him, making him uncomfortable as he stepped back holding his head.
Zardeth covered his ears and quickly reminded, "Wait… Erlan, see what she wants to say."
"Common language, darn it," the succubus stared at another one nearby and asked, "Why are you with a group of humans?"
Then, she looked at Erlan and questioned, "Are you her servant? Do you serve a skin-flaying demon?"
"I’m a servant?" Erlan cursed, "You’re talking nonsense!"
Molofeel didn’t move or speak much, just looked at her expressionlessly as she angrily or perhaps fearfully trembled pressed against the wall. The newly summoned succubus tightly held her whip and quickly scanned the room, but eventually focused her gaze on Molofeel.
"Tell me, is this some kind of silly prank trap?"
"This is not a trap," Zardeth said, "This is just a summoning ritual. Demon, you were summoned here by me, obey me, and tell me your true name."
"Tell me my true name?" Although she asked this, the succubus’s eyes never left Molofeel, one hand against the wall, poised in a ready-to-fight stance.
She hesitated for a moment before asking, "Just for this? To confess my true name to my summoner? To obey?"
"Dear master… What should we do? If she confesses, will it be over?" Molofeel looked at Jesse, her face clearly showing disappointment.
Jesse raised an eyebrow, turning to Zardeth and asked, "Zardeth, since you summoned her, what is your opinion?"
Zardeth looked at the succubus and said, "Yes, as long as she is willing to reveal her true name to me."
The succubus immediately said, "I will tell you everything, my new master, as long as you keep this witch away from me…"
Everyone in the room, except for Jesse, looked towards Molofeel with a mix of complex expressions, while Molofeel stared at the door leading out of the training room, not hiding her desire to go home immediately.
