Chapter 347: Getting Ready for a New Journey
Coming out from Zardeth’s side, Jesse entered the Alchemy Room where Ursula was lying in a chair holding her head. Upon hearing footsteps, she glanced towards the door, then reluctantly sat up and said, "I thought you had gone back."
Jesse sat on a small stool in the corner of the room and said, "I originally planned to come find you."
"I’m sorry, Jesse, I may not have the energy to help you make potions now," Ursula said with a wry smile. "Just now I mentioned about enhancing the formula to resist mental interference, Jesse, besides the Shadow Protection Potion or potions to boost shadow resistance, I don’t have any other good ideas. In the end, it seems that one must rely on training their own willpower to control such a succubus."
"Even with potions, one needs to strengthen their own willpower," Jesse said. "Whether it’s against succubus or Shadow Magic, it’s the same. Otherwise, when the potion loses effect, it becomes the weakest moment for the warlock, which only causes more trouble for oneself."
"You’re right," Ursula said. "I wonder how the first person who mastered summoning succubus magic succeeded."
"Perhaps it was just good luck," Jesse said.
"Undoubtedly, Zardeth was also very lucky," Ursula said. "After all, we were right beside him, and most importantly, there was a helper like you watching over him."
"So your own will becomes even more crucial," Jesse said. "After all, you can’t guarantee that every warlock learning summoning spells will receive the same treatment as Zardeth, or have your potion to help."
"You’re right," Ursula straightened her chest and raised her head. "By the way, I’ve been practicing the weakening spell you taught me last time, with Surena, Jesse."
"You’re not relying on potions all the time, are you?" Jesse asked.
"Of course not, drinking too much potion can cause problems, not to mention my wallet can’t handle it," Ursula said with a smile. "After getting familiar with that feeling, it seems like I can cast spells without relying on potions, but of course, the emotional effects of potions are more direct."
"By the way, what do you need? Tell me now, I will help you after I take a rest."
Jesse said, "There’s something I want to ask you about. Last time, didn’t we talk about the Noggenfogger Elixir, which contains a dew gland from the Mire Beast in the desert? I was wondering if the Mire Beasts in the marshlands have similar organs? Of course, the ones in the wetlands wouldn’t need to store as much water, so they might be smaller or even non-existent, but I think it’s worth checking."
"You’re right," Ursula said. "Bring it here to take a look."
Mentioning the Noggenfogger Elixir made the Alchemist’s previous gloomy mood disappear in an instant. But she immediately sensed something and asked, "Why are you so proactive this time?"
"Well, I actually want to know…" Jesse said. "The recipe for the Nature Protection Potion, Ursula, but not the regular one that requires Elemental Earth."
"Ursula said, ‘Liferoot is the most common ingredient, but if I had an exclusive recipe, I would also need some Wild Steelbloom and a bit of Blackmouth Oil.’ She continued, ‘Most Natural Magic can be quite powerful, causing dizziness or even shock… But my recipe can help the user resist dizziness.’"
"Jesse quickly responded, ‘That sounds too complicated, Ursula. Right now, I might not even be able to get Liferoot and Wild Steelbloom. Just the basic ingredients will do.’"
"Ursula asked, ‘Forget about the ingredients for now, how many bottles do you need?’"
"Jesse replied, ‘About four bottles, let’s start with that.’"
"Ursula said, ‘Alright, help me get two plants of Liferoot, and I will take care of the rest. I promised not to charge you for the potion, Liferoot is indeed a bit expensive, and I am running low on it… But I have the other ingredients in my warehouse, especially the Blackmouth Oil.’"
"Jesse expressed gratitude, ‘Thank you, Ursula. I came here today just for this.’"
"Ursula sighed and remarked, ‘And you also dealt with a succubus along the way, didn’t you?’"
"Jesse reassured, ‘Thankfully, nothing unexpected happened.’"
After the rain stopped in the evening, Jesse left The Slaughtered Lamb with Erlan. They parted ways by the canal, and Jesse returned home alone.
When Molofeel opened the door, he immediately frowned.
"You went to see another succubus again, master, who died this time?"
"Thanks to you, no one died," Jesse said.
"Why are you speaking so politely?" Molofeel leaned against the edge of the bed.
"Literally speaking," Jesse said, "if I hadn’t moved you out, there might have been a real problem. And one more thing, you will have a new job in the future."
"Hahaha!" Saenor laughed, "You’re in trouble, Molofeel, do you know how I’ve been living these past few months? Now it’s your turn to suffer!"
"What job?" Molofeel shrank back a bit, leaning against the wall, and asked, "It’s not copying something again, is it? Look at my slender arms, I have no strength at all, master… Writing a few words back and forth might twist them, how can you bear to torture me like this…"
"But aren’t my arms even slimmer!" Imp jumped onto the table, holding up both hands and said, "Look, look!"
"Specific job tasks, you will be in charge of tormenting a few demons," Jesse glanced at Imp, then looked at the succubus, "Just force them to reveal their true names!"
"Huh?!" Molofeel suddenly rushed over and asked, "Really?!"
Imp froze at the table, slowly walked over to look at Jesse’s face, and said, "Is this considered work, master, or just pure entertainment?"
"Ha!" Molofeel grabbed Saenor’s horn and lifted it up, saying, "So, who is the servant that the master truly likes? Honestly, you are just a hornless pen… I suggest you know your place!"
"I refuse! I refuse!" Imp struggled and shouted.
"Hey, lower your voice," Jesse glanced at the door and said, "I have another question, Molofeel."
Molofeel tossed imp aside and said, "What? I’m listening."
"To summon a succubus, do you need a special item?" Jesse asked.
Molofeel laughed and said, "Hah, I know what you’re asking. You think you can lure me to you with such a boring ‘bait’?"
"What truly attracted me was your unique scent, master. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed when I first saw you, after all… you turned out to be just a boring human!"
She leaned on the table and said, "But now I must say, the differences between humans, are as great as the differences between demons…"
