Chapter 343: The Inheritance of Gorefiend
"I didn’t mean to do it that way, Greed. Let me try again."
Jesse pulled out the sword and threw it a few meters away, then reached out, attempting to use some kind of mental power to pull it back, but it didn’t work after several tries.
Greed stared at him from the other side, making all sorts of strange gestures towards an unmoving straight sword, couldn’t help but say, "Are you pretending to be stupid here, or really can’t figure out what’s going on…"
"I really can’t find that feeling I had just now," Jesse said.
Although the words were like that, it was quite easy to retrieve the magic wand, why not try to treat this sword as a magic wand and retrieve it back?
Thinking of this, he stared at the sword again, imagining it as his magic wand in the distance, reaching out once again.
This time, the Azuresong Mageblade suddenly seemed to be pulled towards him, Jesse tried to grab the handle and almost got cut by the blade.
"I’m not very good at controlling my strength," Jesse said.
"Try something else," the dwarf said.
Jesse nodded, looked around, and finally focused on the hammer in the dwarf’s hand.
"Throw your hammer out, I’ll try to pull it over and grab it."
Greed nodded and threw the warhammer high in the air. Jesse watched the spinning hammer closely and reached out his hand. He saw a blood-red thread coming out of his palm in midair, like a blurry, lunging snake biting the warhammer!
Jesse pulled back and grabbed the warhammer in his hand.
This is indeed Gorefiend’s magic, he was sure because he witnessed Teron Gorefiend using this move against a fleeing Kaffir in Dalaran.
By this time, he also felt the taste of his energy being consumed.
"Where did you learn this move?" Greed asked.
"Of course, it’s from that Orc Warlock." Jesse said as he tossed the hammer back to the dwarf.
Greed caught the hammer and said, "Looks pretty powerful, Jesse. I wonder how it would be to use it to catch someone."
"Do you remember those rooftops in Dalaran that were shattered?" Jesse said. "Those roofs that were ripped apart, they were destroyed by Teron Gorefiend’s magic."
Greed nodded slowly and said, "So if I get into a fight with someone else, and you plan to use this magic to catch them… make sure to aim well and don’t catch me by accident."
Jesse said, "I can’t use this magic in such a dangerous way until I understand its power and know how to use it skillfully."
"Do you need more practice?" Greed asked.
"It’s too late today," Jesse said. "And I’ve already spent a lot of energy practicing. We’ll talk about it next time."
Greed tied the hammer to his waist, sat down by a tree, and said, "Anyway, let’s practice together tonight. It will give me more confidence for our trip to the Dark Iron Dwarves’ mining site, Jesse."
"Have you thought about how we will get there?" Jesse asked.
When Greed looked up, he said, "You mentioned going to Badlands with Vereesa Windrunner at noon. How did you get there? Did you follow Redridge all the way?"
"Yes," Jesse said, "but if we go that way… It seems straightforward, but we’ll have to pass through Burning Steppes halfway. Greed, there are black dragons in Burning Steppes now."
Thinking about the journey, Jesse suddenly remembered the mare Aarna that Varian had given him and decided to visit the stable in Mage Quarter tomorrow morning.
He tapped the package containing black dragon teeth and scales and said, "Not only are there black dragons, but there are also Wyrmkin lurking in many places along the way."
Greed leaned against a tree, gnawing his teeth, saying, "After the crazy fire elementals, bloodthirsty Blackrock Orcs, now there’s a third kind of monster near Shadowforge City – the dreaded black dragon. The Dark Iron Tribe is really lucky, after all the chaos for over a hundred years, they’ve managed to create such a precious land for themselves. I wish them many happy years ahead."
Jesse couldn’t help but laugh and said, "Well, I definitely don’t plan on going there again, Greed."
"So, should we take the same route I took to the wetlands?" Greed said, "In the marsh, it’s either crocodiles or Mire Beasts, not to mention the Gnolls and Murlocs…"
"So, you really did cross the entire wetland alone, taking the Dun Algaz passage to reach Loch Modan?" Jesse admired, "You’re quite brave."
Greed said, "The snowy mountains of Khaz Modan are nothing like Redridge, they are snow-covered all year round with fewer passable routes than Alterac Mountain. Even in Loch Modan, you have to traverse a mountain road occupied by Kobolds, it’s really…"
He muttered a few words in Dwarven language, and Jesse knew they were probably not pleasant words.
"But if we don’t take a boat to Menethil Harbor, we’ll have to enter the forest from Stonewatch Keep and head north," he said, "Dealing with a pack of Gnolls in the forest is definitely better than being chased by flying black demons on the plains. Do you know the ruins of Thaurissan City? Vereesa and I were chased by a black dragon into that ruin, it took us who knows how long to finally find our way out, and Teron Gorefiend was hiding there."
"Haha, I know why he would hide there," Greed said, "He surely has a lot to talk about with the ghosts of the Dark Iron Tribe."
Speaking of which, the dwarf laughed and said, "Now I understand why Vereesa Windrunner gave you this sword, Jesse Seso. If someone could get me out of Thaurissan City, I’d marry them on the spot, no joke."
"It was a place that even the living Dark Iron Dwarves would sweat at the thought of. Imagine, thousands of poor people summoned by their most revered king, burned to death in raging fires. How much resentment and unwillingness would they leave behind? There are not many unluckier things in the world than this."
"On second thought, I think we should take the path I’ve walked before, Jesse. Compared to the Gnoll tribe army in the forest and the black dragons everywhere, I still think the marsh crocodiles and the Mire Beasts that only attack when provoked are friendlier."
Jesse also preferred to go through the wetlands to Loch Modan, and then enter Badlands from the south of Loch Modan.
After all, the dwarf town Thelsamar in Loch Modan is located not far from Badlands on the south bank of Loch Lake, close to the ruins of Uldaman. It can serve as a supply point, and Thelsamar is also known as a famous food town nearby.
If you were to go from Redridge, you would have to cross the entire barren land from south to north to reach the Dark Iron excavation site. It’s unsure how many troubles you might encounter on the way, and it may take longer than going around the north.
"Let’s settle for that for now," Jesse said.
