Chapter 331: Guidance From a Deity
80 silver coins is certainly not a cheap price.
But Jesse didn’t want to venture deep into the jungle again to search for the troll ruins where witchery once existed, and then dig out a bottle of Mojo from inside.
Thinking back to the previous hunter, though she wasn’t powerful, her exaggerated agility in the jungle, along with her accuracy in throwing weapons, still made Jesse shudder.
If he encountered more than two, he would definitely be at a disadvantage.
"Then I’ll take a bottle."
"Today we really met a big client," said Silvia as she walked to the shelf nearby and muttered, "Oh, it seems like there are only a few bottles of this strong Mojo left, it’s going to sell out soon."
"Human, how did that troll give you this mask? And how did it get damaged?"
Jesse told the troll about the encounter by the sea, chasing it to the entrance of a cave, and eventually escaping by dropping the mask, describing the incident honestly. When she mentioned the axe that broke the mask, Silvia chuckled.
"She’s afraid of you, clearly, because you’re a powerful warrior, she sensed it, and I could sense it too. I knew that thief was a coward, capable only of deception, extortion, and bullying the weak. You taught her a lesson, human, and I’m happy." Silvia said as she returned to Jesse carrying a small bottle of purple thick liquid.
"According to folklore, Mojo is a magical substance that can be extracted through witchcraft rituals from some beasts and trolls, the purer it is, the stickier. Many Amani believe Mojo is the blood of Loa, so Loa’s children also have this substance flowing in them, like bears, panthers, Cloud Serpents, Dragonhawks, Raptors, and of course, us."
"So, you don’t know what this really is," Jesse said taking the bottle.
The troll smiled at Jesse and said, "Don’t mention this in front of other Amani shamans, they’re not as tolerant as I am."
"Do you still have these mushrooms?" Jesse shook the bag in her hand.
"It’s already good that I’m selling you one, I need them too, human, and I can’t go back to Hinterlands anymore," Silvia looked at the young person in front of her and whispered, "But, unless you help me with one more thing…"
Jesse frowned and asked, "Do you want me to go kill the sea giant?"
"Not that deadly." Silvia glanced at the door, leaned in and said, "In simple terms, you need to take the place of that mask… Let me have some fun, break my things, don’t you want to take responsibility?"
"Hold on." Jesse shifted uncomfortably behind, chuckled and asked, "Who taught you the Common language, do you know what you’re talking about?"
"Aren’t you curious about the purpose of that mask?" Silvia said as she took off the mask. Jesse noticed she didn’t sound as old as expected and even by looking at the smoothness of her skin, she seemed younger than the Gurubashi hunter.
"So I’ll tell you, strictly speaking, it’s no longer just a mask, it’s my other half, my companion, human. It brings me pleasure… makes my life here less dull. It’s dead, and I don’t expect it to come back to life. Your arrival is its guidance, its final compensation to me, it must be so… proving my hypothesis, human. If you prove yourself worthy of the power of that witchery mask, I’ll give you two mushrooms."
"Witchery mask?"
"Yes, witchery, you know now."
So this thing is just a…
Witchery… It might even move by itself.
No wonder these two trolls who have left their group were fighting so fiercely.
But if this thing exists, it might also cause a fight within the group. How can a male troll compare to the evil Amaniwitchery?
Jesse was having trouble figuring out how to use that thing. He tried putting it on and instantly felt confused and anxious.
Taking a deep breath, Jesse watched as Silvia took off her skirt, loosened her sweaty waist and chest wraps. In the dim light, her smooth skin glistened with sweat.
At that moment, Jesse could already smell a animal-like musk. Though he had to admit, the female troll’s figure was quite attractive, even if her arms seemed a bit too long for her body, with strong but not weak limbs.
But those large feet and small chest made it hard for Jesse to be interested. Size didn’t really matter because it was a completely different race!
"To be honest, I have been patient for months. I was expecting you to bring it back, but instead you brought back something useless without magic. So, even if you didn’t come here following the guidance of the gods, I cannot easily let you leave."
Silvia took graceful steps closer, attempting to appear elegant, though it looked a bit comical. Jesse knew if this was a troll, they might have already lost control in anger, but…
The troll came close to Jesse, making him feel like prey being carefully sniffed by a large cat.
"You have strong power, and I like the smell you give off. And, thinking about when you beat up that jerk and broke that mask to let out your anger, it makes me feel itchy all over."
She was already close to Jesse’s face, snarling and growling.
Although there was a bad smell of bad breath, to Jesse who was used to dealing with all sorts of smells related to death and decay, this smell was strangely gentle.
"My vocabulary in Common Tongue is indeed very limited…damn me, human," Silvia whispered.
Now, Jesse finally felt something, and who knows what tomorrow will bring, facing death, there’s nothing to fear anymore.
"Then I’ll say goodbye to that mask for you."
He reached out and grabbed the troll’s arm, forcefully turning her around to push her against the wall with her back to him. The troll’s body couldn’t resist Jesse’s strength, stumbling two steps before grabbing the nearby shelf to steady herself.
The shaman growled low like a lioness unexpectedly angered by a male, struggling in anger by instinct, only to be caught by Jesse time and time again. The whole shelf rattled and some dry, brittle specimens fell down.
After a ruckus that shattered the once orderly shelves and tables, troll was finally pinned down by Jesse, unable to move, only able to whimper.
"Later… try not to make any noise," Jesse gasped, firmly holding her waist and said, "Your voice makes me feel like something wants to cut off my head."
He unbuttoned his pants and couldn’t resist grabbing her long, upright ears, pulling the troll’s head up.
The troll groaned in pain but then held back abruptly, only panting heavily, revealing sharp teeth, staring at Jesse intensely.
Jesse’s other hand searched for a similar position, biting his lip, pushing his body forward forcefully, feeling like squeezing into a narrow gap between stones, making him wince.
Silvia under him narrowed her eyes, took a sharp breath, shook her head, gasped anxiously, and intermittently said, "I’m starting to doubt if you really killed that Death Knight…"
"You will regret saying that, troll."
