Chapter 329: The Wanderer Hunter
Silvia wasn’t lying – they could walk out of this rainforest in a morning. Hearing the sounds of the waves, Jesse felt like he was finally saved.
Just when he thought this was a secluded Seahorn, Jesse saw a large ship anchored at the edge of the southern sea, unsure if it was a pirate ship or something else.
Standing on the beach, he felt a slight itch in his leg and couldn’t resist scratching it, only to feel a lump!
Darn it… the spot where the bug bit him was now swollen as big as a fist!
Just looking at that bag made Jesse feel a bit dizzy.
But stopping now might mean not reaching the place the Troll Witch Doctor talked about before dusk.
Following the instructions, Jesse walked north along the coast, keeping an eye on the forest on the shore, searching for the "buried shady path."
After walking for who knows how long and exploring a few deep places, as the sun slowly set and the sunlight shone diagonally, Jesse felt his eyes were almost getting blurry.
Just as he saw what seemed to be another shady spot ahead and was about to go check it out, a succubus whispered from behind, "Look ahead by the seaside, master."
Jesse looked towards the shore and saw a tall and thin figure holding a spear standing in the shallow sea, as if fishing.
He rubbed his eyes, leaned forward to look carefully at the figure in front, who was only a little taller than a human, with a light blue skin and shiny golden hair standing tall…
Isn’t that the troll Silvia described?
Jesse was considering whether to attack directly or to speak first, but would the other side understand the common language? She wasn’t a troll living in Booty Bay; they might not be far from the area controlled by the Gurubashi trolls.
Just as he was thinking about what to do, the person suddenly looked in this direction.
What’s going on? Jesse didn’t move at all.
With just one look, the female troll suddenly ran madly towards the coastline, darn it, she probably smelled something.
Jesse immediately got up and chased after her, but the female troll ran as fast as an Olympic sprinter, and in a flash, she disappeared into the woods.
He gritted his teeth, ignoring the discomfort in his legs and chased after her. This once again made him keenly feel the gap between the races, more glaring than the Arcane talents between him and Vereesa.
There were probably only a few young people in Stormwind who could run faster than him, and this troll suddenly vanished at a speed that was despairing.
Jesse crossed a few vines and tried his best to follow the rustling branches ahead.
"Be careful, master!" the imp suddenly shouted. Just as the words fell, an axe spinning towards his face flew out from the woods. Jesse instinctively dodged his head, causing the axe to fly past him and embed itself in a tree trunk.
His heart skipped a beat in shock. If that force had landed on his face, even Soul Link might not have been able to save him.
But now is not the time to sigh.
Keep chasing, not long after he heard Molofeel shout something in Demonic, the voice was already about 20-30 meters ahead.
When did this demon get so far ahead?
"Molofeel! Be careful!"
He climbed over while hurrying over, pushed aside a green leaf, and saw a troll in the woods ahead holding a spear towards the succubus, the succubus agilely dodged and tried to stab back with a sword but the spear tip swayed due to the distance, had to take a step back to continue looking for an opportunity.
This troll was almost naked, adorned with some unknown ornaments and a few short axes, its originally pale blue skin slightly turned red, murmuring something in its mouth, probably entering what was known as a rage state.
Noticing another spellcaster with a magic wand appearing, the troll retreated several steps ready to defend.
She was quite tall, even in a half-crouched position she was almost as tall as Jesse, her fierce face showing teeth as she stared back and forth between Molofeel and Jesse, like an angry beast, constantly muttering in troll language, unfortunately Jesse couldn’t understand anything.
The succubus didn’t even try to Charm her with magic, perhaps because mental magic didn’t work well on a troll in this state.
"She knows she can’t beat us, master," imp said. "She’s using a fierce expression to hide her fear. If you allow me, I can give her a shock with her hair bun. Hehehe!"
"Hold on a moment."
Jesse lifted the magic wand pointing at the troll a bit, then looked at her and said, "Silvia."
After saying this name, he gestured on his face with his right hand, drawing the shape of a big-nosed mask.
Upon hearing the name and seeing Jesse’s gesture, the troll seemed to understand something and became calmer.
She pulled out a blue mask from behind, which she had been carrying with her all along.
Jesse noticed that the mask was indeed a monster with eyes closed, a long nose, but very abstract—the face of a troll wasn’t clear.
The troll threw the mask on the ground and ran away. Molofeel was about to chase, but Jesse stopped her, saying, "Forget it, we can’t gain an advantage in the jungle, Molofeel. Just get what we need and don’t let her lead us into the territory of other trolls."
Molofeel nodded and said, "As you say, master."
As soon as the words were spoken, a big ax suddenly flew out from the forest and chopped off a piece of the mask accurately, taking away the nose and half of an eye.
"Oh no."
Jesse looked back at the forest, but couldn’t hear the troll’s footsteps anymore.
The succubus stood on the side, smiling and pointing behind her, saying, "Can’t catch up now, master. I couldn’t stop her unless she ran into the cave and came out again."
Jesse picked up two pieces of the mask, sighed, and looked in the direction the succubus pointed to – a dark cave entrance.
"Where’s my cloak?" he asked the shiny succubus.
"Thrown on the beach," replied Molofeel, sticking out his tongue. "It was too cumbersome."
"I’ll go back to pick it up later…" Jesse said resignedly, "Now let’s go inside the cave to see if she left anything behind, and take whatever we can."
"There’s nothing more precious than this mask," Molofeel said. "I think she ran into the cave just to grab this mask and run away."
"So what’s this mask for?" Jesse turned the mask over and put it back on his face, but nothing happened.
