Chapter 323: True Companions
When Jesse entered the tavern, he saw the dwarf and his succubus henchmen looking at him in a not-so-friendly way, and he had a bad feeling.
Whether it was the succubus sensing something or Jesse’s own presence easily attracting attention in Booty Bay, he felt uneasy.
Later, when the goblin informed him that the rooms were full and the strange smell of fish distracted him, Jesse forgot about the warlock.
The Dark Iron Dwarf’s skin wasn’t as dark as expected, more like a light gray, but his bright red beard was very noticeable.
His beard covered his mouth, making it hard to see his expression, but Jesse could tell from his wrinkled eyes that he seemed to be mocking his unfortunate situation.
"No one likes the taste of this except trolls, even Orcs," the dwarf remarked.
"I haven’t tried it before," Jesse admitted.
"Even this ale?" the dwarf asked. "I don’t often see young humans who enjoy this dark ale."
"Speak up," said Jesse.
At that moment, he sensed a strange sweet smell coming from the side, the succubus must be behind him.
"I noticed you when you came in earlier," the dwarf sitting across said. "Do you like her?"
He waved his hand, and the succubus walked over to lean against the dwarf, pressing her face against his hairy face, and gave a slight smile.
As the succubus’s gaze turned here, Jesse keenly felt a discomforting sensation.
Then the dwarf proudly said, "No one can resist her."
"She is indeed very beautiful."
Jesse casually replied while taking a piece of fish and symbolically chewing on it before swallowing it whole, causing his throat to be forced open, almost making him shed a tear.
"What if I told you, you could have a lover like her?" asked the dwarf.
Jesse lifted his eyes, wondering what the dwarf was up to.
Is he trying to recruit a new warlock as well?
More likely, he wanted to recruit a new target, just like those people in The Slaughtered Lamb looking for someone to test magic on. A target, no matter what, is always more suitable for testing spells than a talking living person.
Jesse looked at the succubus, who was staring at him intently.
"No need, Mr. Dwarf, I’m not interested in winged ladies."
After saying that, Jesse took a sip of beer, swallowed twice to wash down the taste, hesitated for a moment while looking at the fish on his plate, then reached for it. At that moment, he noticed the dwarf’s expression had turned unfriendly.
"You’re a warlock too, right?" the dwarf suddenly asked.
Jesse didn’t answer, he just stuffed a piece of fish into his mouth.
"Where are you from, Moonbrook or Stormwind?" the dwarf continued.
"I don’t want trouble, dwarf," Jesse said, staring at him.
The dwarf suddenly reached out to grab Jesse’s mask, but Jesse quickly grabbed his wrist and twisted it aside.
"There’s no need for this, warlock. If we fight here, those goblins will throw us into the sea. Do you really want to get violent?"
The dwarf didn’t realize how strong the young human in front of him was. He struggled to break free, unable to do so. Through gritted teeth, he asked, "How are you resisting the Charm? I’ve never met someone like you before. Tell me your name, human, let’s get acquainted."
"Or else?" Jesse asked.
"If you have to ask, it means you don’t know what a succubus can do," the dwarf coldly threatened. "You have no idea the danger you’re in."
Jesse glanced at the succubus, then looked back at the dwarf, and said, "Molofeel!"
"Is that your name?" the dwarf asked. "Sounds like a demon’s name. Are you trying to deceive me with a fake name…"
Before he could finish his sentence, the dwarf’s eyes suddenly shifted to the side, freezing in place.
He stared directly at Jesse’s back, and his gaze followed Molofeel emerging from the shadows and gradually coming to the middle.
The succubus across from them looked dull in the eyes, reminding Jesse of the succubus he had killed earlier, summoned by Gakin. Her tempting and confident expression had turned completely dull, only daring to stare straight at Molofeel in front of her without looking elsewhere.
Jesse suddenly felt a light feeling all over his body, being under the continuous influence of Charm magic since the Dark Iron Dwarves had arrived here earlier.
Molofeel paid no attention to the succubus and the dwarf, only approaching Jesse and saying, "I like being noticed by others, master. I like appearing in crowded places like this. I like… when you call my name in front of others."
"Don’t try to Charm me," the dwarf said slowly, emphasizing each word.
"Master hasn’t commanded me, so why would I waste my magic on you? After all, every bit of my magic is…" Molofeel lightly embraced Jesse’s neck, saying, "Given by him, each drop is much more precious than your wretched soul."
"Master… I… I can’t…" The succubus was clearly frightened, recognizing the specialist skinning succubus standing before her. She muttered quietly, unsure of what to say, while the dwarf was surprised at his servant’s sudden surrender, his mouth falling open in shock.
"Don’t be afraid, I won’t kill you," Molofeel leaned against Jesse, not even looking at her, saying, "Unless he commands me to."
"Fighting is not allowed here," Jesse said. "Otherwise, the goblin soldiers outside will rush in to arrest you."
Talking about this, he remembered the scary things controlled by the Booty Bay Goblin Sentry, like never-ending nets, continuous flying bullets, unlimited knockdowns, and so on.
"If they hit me, will you protect me?" asked Molofeel.
Jesse glanced at her and said, "How can I protect you? Can’t you see the hammers in their hands? I don’t want to get hit either. Why don’t you just finish off and invisibly run away by yourself? They can’t see you anyway, I won’t turn invisible."
"I still want the owner to bravely fight those green-skinned dwarves to protect me. What’s the point of being invisible?" Molofeel said with a smile. "You always seem so cold-blooded. I think you should be flayed and bone-picked like the warlock before, left alone to decay in a cold, dark, empty room."
The dwarf shivered at hearing this, suddenly jumped up from his seat and ran out of the tavern. Seeing the owner running away, even the succubus ran faster than him.
"Sit across from me, Molofeel," Jesse said. "Help me finish this meat, I really can’t eat anymore."
Molofeel elegantly sat down opposite Jesse with a smile, carefully rubbed his fingers and reached for a piece of fish.
"Can I taste this thing?"
Suddenly, the imp peeked out from Jesse’s cloak and asked.
Jesse glanced at the messy and dim tavern, but no one bothered to glance his way.
"Sure."
Imp grabbed a piece of broken fish meat, put it in his mouth, made a face and asked, "Hey, when are we going to find the merchant from the other continent?"
"Let me eat and find a place to rest for the night first," Jesse said. "We can talk about it in the morning."
