Chapter 321: Booty Bay
When Jesse was at the port of Stormwind, he felt like his outfit was a bit too flashy.
There were many people wearing cloaks getting ready to travel, many wearing masks, some carrying magic wands or canes, quite a few with long sticks, and some with swords hanging from their waists.
Among the hundreds of people, it was hard to find anyone who had all of those things, but luckily, only the Goblin Sailor noticed something was a bit off until they set sail.
Arriving at Booty Bay, just standing at the dock, Jesse realized he looked completely ordinary, especially compared to a troll next to him wearing red spiked armor.
The troll looked like a fierce warrior ready for a level 60 raid, with several odd-shaped daggers and axes hanging all over his body, a spear made of some unknown creature’s bone on his back, and a face covered in chaotic tattooed symbols.
Even crouching down, Jesse could tell the troll was very large, much taller than a human, with long and strong arms covered by dark red armor plates, resembling a long-armed ape in proportion.
Jesse couldn’t help but sneak glances at the troll repeatedly as he stood not far away, but the troll seemed completely uninterested in the gazes of those around him, as if he stood there just to be admired.
It was Jesse’s first time being so close to a live male troll, as everyone in Stormwind was terrified of trolls, and most couldn’t even imagine being near one alive.
It’s strange to think that by spending twenty to thirty silver coins and enduring a dull life at sea for over ten days, one could arrive at such an extraordinary place and experience completely new people and things that feel very surreal.
However, just half a year ago, he couldn’t even come up with two or three silver coins, let alone twenty. And back then, he didn’t have the courage to visit a town like Booty Bay.
Now he finds this place interesting because he has become a part of the chaos himself.
Thinking about this, he carefully observed the troll and noticed that the skin under the tattoos on its face, which was hard to see, was actually a light brown color.
At that moment, the troll was bending down to wrap coarse cloth tightly around its broad two-toed feet. Layers of dry skin could be seen on its hands and feet from constant movement, and its teeth, visible from the corner of its mouth, were not the usual white of a troll but a light gray resembling limestone.
Jesse realized that this was not a Gurubashi jungle troll but a sand troll.
They used to belong to the same group as the Gurubashi jungle trolls, but after the explosion of the Well of Eternity ten thousand years ago, the ancient Kalimdor continent was split by the Great Sea, leaving them on a separate land where they underwent significant changes in appearance due to long years of living in the desert. Their main settlement, called Zul’Farrak, is located deep within the Tanaris Desert, amidst dry mountains.
Seeing this sand troll who had crossed over from the other side of the Great Sea to arrive here, Jesse became more convinced that there might be Noggenfogger Elixir for sale here, and Ursula’s information seemed more trustworthy.
Since the creator of Noggenfogger Elixir lives in the goblin city of Gadgetzan in the Tanaris Desert, if this troll could cross the sea to get here, why not the potion?
Booty Bay is a place filled with a salty smell. At first, Jesse thought it was the smell coming from the huge swordfish at the pier. But even after leaving the pier and walking onto the streets, the smell lingered in the air.
However, every time they passed by a house, especially those strange shops, various strong, strange, and different smells wafted out, mostly spices, with occasional medicinal scents.
Each shop’s sign had several languages written on it, and it took some effort to find the common language.
Here, the common language was not the most widely used "common language". Jesse sometimes heard people asking questions in the common language, and others answering in Dwarven Language, causing a chaotic exchange.
Without a doubt, those who had lived here for a long time would likely know several languages, including the troll’s Zandali language. Jesse walked on, looking up to find a place that could be called an inn, as since they had arrived, they needed to find a room to sleep in first. It was already afternoon, the sunlight was dimming, a little more wandering and it would be evening. By then, it would be too late to rest.
After countless days, maybe ten days of traveling, Jesse indeed felt a bit exhausted.
Just as Jesse was looking up carefully to figure out what was written on a huge sign, suddenly he felt the ground beneath him rhythmically shaking.
What was that?
The shaking rhythm was getting closer, and a few people sitting on the edge of the wooden planks gazing at the sea stopped chatting, looking towards the same direction to the south. Jesse also followed their gaze.
At that moment, a huge monster slowly stepped out from the shadow where the sunlight couldn’t reach.
It was completely black, covered in fur, with two large horns on its head bending towards the sky. Jesse almost thought it was a demon from the Burning Legion walking into Booty Bay, wondering why a goblin would let such a creature in.
As the monster climbed up from below the steps, Jesse noticed that it was wearing a simple leather outfit. Thick braids, tied with red and green ropes, hung beneath its heavy head, giving off a hint of a Dwarf Wildhammer vibe. When it stepped into the sunlight, Jesse realized it was actually a Tauren.
It was Jesse’s first time seeing a live Tauren outside of a book, and it was unbelievably huge!
Jesse felt that this Tauren was much taller than the Ogres he had encountered in Duskwood, standing at least three meters tall. Its hooves, shaped like weights, were as wide as a black round shield, causing the wooden planks to tremble with each step, making it difficult for Jesse to stay steady.
The Tauren was not armed in any way, no weapons on its body, but Jesse felt that this creature was the most dangerous being in all of Booty Bay at that moment.
Obviously, Jesse was not the only one who felt this way.
No matter how fierce they looked, no matter how many knives or swords they carried, pirates, mercenaries, and blade-wielding ruffians all instinctively stepped aside as the giant approached. After all, even without any weapons, the thick fingers of the Tauren could easily crush their skulls with a simple squeeze.
Seeing this monster, Jesse immediately realized that in the game, Tauren had been portrayed as too weak for balance. Even with the powers of two black dragons, he knew he stood no chance against this beast in a direct confrontation.
Jesse had a feeling that if this guy got angry, he could charge towards the fishing boats in the harbor and crash a hole into them.
"The hat looks nice, human."
A heavy noise came from above, followed by a strong smell of cow dung. After speaking, Tauren walked towards the dock without looking back, his rough tail driving away a group of flies following him.
Jesse stood alone in place, thinking about this guy speaking a common language with only a subtle accent.
