Chapter 311: Dark Protection
After ordering his clothes, Jesse kept thinking about his height until he got home at noon.
Suddenly growing taller could be for many reasons, maybe it was the black dragon, or perhaps something brought by Teron Gorefiend’s soul?
When a Death Knight possesses a body, the raging necrotic energy can make the original corpse grow significantly, so each Death Knight’s size is extremely abnormal.
Not to mention Teron Gorefiend, even the servant of Teron that Jesse intercepted on the way to Dalaran was terrifyingly tall.
Anyway, Jesse couldn’t think of a way to confirm whose power was affecting his size.
Pushing the door open, Molofeel was sitting inside staring at himself.
"Master, how are you now? Are you planning to become a monk? How long has it been since we had fun together? When was the last time?"
"You, as an immortal monster, so impatient?"
Jesse muttered as he opened the box expressionlessly, took out the scroll inside, and looked at the spells left by Gorefiend, densely remembered by himself.
Thinking back to the day he recorded this in the Dark Iron temple, it felt like a lifetime ago.
Don’t tell Andromath he couldn’t understand how he managed to kill Gorefiend, even imagining himself from a month ago now felt unbelievable.
"Are you starting to doubt me because of that demon summoner?" Molofeel asked, tilting his head.
"A little bit," Jesse said, "You have to admit, for a simple boy like me, that scene was indeed a bit scary."
Molofeel squinted at Jesse for a while and said, "My innocent master, have you fallen in love with someone else, using this as an excuse?"
"Honestly," Jesse looked at the succubus and said, "I summoned you to help me, not to cause trouble, Ms. Molofeel. You have helped me a lot, truly, but don’t let the trouble you bring me outweigh your help."
"Okay!" Molofeel sat on the bed, swinging her legs back and forth, "At least I took good care of your few possessions while you were away, especially this demon sword…right? Does that count as helping?"
She then took out the bag containing the Azuresong Mageblade from the box directly, and Jesse grabbed it, saying, "Don’t treat this as a toy."
Molofeel coldly stated, "A toy? This is clearly some kind of token of affection, isn’t it? I bet this thing smelled like human lust when it first arrived in your hands, that darn elf, I’ll… "
Jesse laughed, "You don’t understand her at all. She killed Teron Gorefiend, Molofeel. If you could take her down, I wouldn’t have to stay here. The two of us demons could go out and be treasure hunters. I suggest you help me take down Blackrock Spire first, who knows how much Horde treasure Red Hand hides there."
The succubus shook her head and asked, "So, who exactly is Teron Gorefiend? A necromancer?"
"Didn’t I tell you about him before?" Jesse said, "He’s an undead creature created by Kil’jaeden for his apprentice, Kil’jaeden, you know him, right?"
Upon hearing Kil’jaeden’s name, the succubus’s eyes dimmed slightly, "Never mind then."
She glanced at Jesse and asked, "So, master, have you fallen in love with that elf?"
Jesse asked, "Can you smell the foul smell of humans on me, succubus?"
Molofeel chuckled and said, "Now all smells are masked by the strange odor coming from the decaying of dead humans, but it’s much better than when you first arrived here."
"Later, I have to go to the Cathedral of Light." He laid out the scroll on the table and said, "Saenor, come out and help me look at what’s on here."
Imp climbed onto the table, stepping on the scroll, and asked, "What is this?"
"Take your claws off." Jesse pushed Imp away and said, "If you burn this scroll, I’ll punch you to death."
"Oh, oh." Imp stepped aside two steps, "This kind of paper can’t be lit so easily!" Jesse nodded as he listened to Imp and said, "Indeed, it’s expensive, but also be careful not to burn anything. My understanding of Demonic is not enough yet to comprehend them, so help me organize these and see which ones might be spells and which ones are useless words."
"Molofeel, you also help to look." Jesse looked at the succubus.
"I don’t understand Demonic," the succubus said.
Jesse glanced at her in anger, Molofeel said, "Oh my, I’ve been so disobedient, please punish me, master!"
"Can you help me check these scrolls? If we find something useful, I might reward you."
"Really?" Molofeel sat obediently at the table, smiling, and started looking at the scrolls with imp.
"Master, what are all these things you’ve written?" imp sighed and said, "It’s all so messy, I can hardly… Oh, this sentence I can almost understand."
"I only listened to the pronunciation, I couldn’t understand what they were saying." Jesse said, "The unclear parts have phonetic annotations in a common language. If you don’t recognize it, think if there are any Demonic words with similar pronunciations."
Molofeel silently repeated one of the sentences, whispering it repeatedly. After a while, he said, "I know this one, master. This sentence should be a shadow protection spell. I’ve heard Nathrezim recite similar spells many times, so I think I’m right."
"A shadow protection barrier?" Jesse asked.
"No, the incantation for a shadow protection barrier is different, and it’s not a spell created by Nathrezim." Molofeel said, "If I remember correctly, this is a shadow shell to protect oneself, can withstand spells, and prevent weapons from intruding, which is why Nathrezim like it."
"Are you sure this is the complete spell?" Jesse asked.
Saenor said, "Sayaad is right, there is a beginning and an end. At least, it’s a complete sentence! And it’s already quite long, master. Don’t you think as a protective spell, it takes a bit too long to recite?"
"Tom Soga, Viholysia, Vasdaong…" Jesse softly chanted this spell, feeling a dark power stirring, but nothing happened in reality.
This shows that the spell is not so easy to cast.
Since this is a protective spell and harmless, it should be tested soon. But first, Jesse needed to go to the Cathedral of Light to have the priests double-check it.
"I need to go out again," said Jesse. "You all behave well at home, you’ve been good lately, so have some praise."
"What about a reward?" Molofeel tugged at Jesse’s sleeve. "I want a reward, you promised!"
"But I need to try this spell later and it requires magic, Molofeel," Jesse said as he reached for the door. Molofeel quickly moved to the other side, like a hunting cat, and pushed the already opened door closed.
Staring into Jesse’s eyes, she said, "If you feel a slight loss of magic power, then I will never bother you again, what do you think? I only want you!"
"Well, you said it then."
Jesse lifted Molofeel and placed her back on the bed. Molofeel jumped off the table and cried out in protest.
