Chapter 282: The Hunter
It was late at night, the streets were empty. Although there was no strict curfew in Stormwind at the moment, people who wandered the streets for no reason would still be investigated. When encountering such a situation, one could only hope that the ring from Wizard’s Sanctum could be of help.
"Where would a succubus who has gained freedom go first?" Jesse asked.
Molofeel materialized in the shadow of the building and whispered, "Regardless of having a master or not, we will always be attracted to various things, emotions, desires, release, magic, and even mere curiosity…"
"Everyone’s pretty much the same," Jesse said.
The succubus smiled and disappeared into the darkness again. Her steps were light but firm. Jesse looked at the broken wing bones behind her and thought of the succubus with two wings from earlier, feeling that the wings now symbolized weakness and powerlessness.
Compared to Molofeel, the succubus summoned by Gakin earlier was far behind in both Charm magic and combat strength.
If Jesse had to rely only on his physical strength to fight against Molofeel, he could not guarantee a win, let alone avoiding any injuries.
"I can smell his anxiety, his urgency," Molofeel said, looking up at the high tower on the city wall and said, "I feel he is hungry, master."
"Hungry? So he will look for a mage? Are there mages living in Old Town?" Jesse looked at the cluster of houses below, with some windows still lit, and said, "There should be, but I can’t remember exactly. Can you find him?"
"Mage, let me see." Molofeel walked into the distance, blending shadow with the silhouette of the city wall.
Using her sensitivity to demons and magic, she ventured deep into an old residential area. Jesse watched as she climbed up one of the buildings and then disappeared from sight, with the second-floor window open.
He also climbed closer to the window on the second floor, peeking inside. He saw a young man in his twenties lying naked on the bed, trembling all over with his eyes rolling back, and an erection.
It looks like this is the place.
This indeed is a mage. Jesse saw many books piled inside his room, and a mage robe hung on a coat rack by the window. Judging from his outer robe, he seemed like an apprentice mage.
"Sir?"
Jesse called out twice, but the person didn’t respond at all. He seemed to have lost consciousness or been hypnotized by magic, completely unaware of his surroundings.
Molofeel had already gone in, so Jesse climbed in too. He took a last look at the person and hurried inside. He followed Molofeel down the corridor and stairs, but a succubus had already slipped out the door.
Feeling bound by the soul, he sensed Molofeel had walked far ahead on the street, and he couldn’t keep up with his speed.
He couldn’t command the succubus to wait for him, as their prey was getting closer. He ran towards where he felt Molofeel had gone, and eventually got lost in a rundown alley in Old Town.
Those two must have continued on the rooftops, but he found himself trapped in a dead end.
Jesse found a shorter rooftop and climbed up using the debris.
While succubus could vanish on the rooftops, he couldn’t risk being caught by night patrols.
He jumped down from the dead end and followed his instincts. Suddenly, urgent barking from his path was abruptly cut off.
Jesse arrived at the alley where the barking came from and saw a dog lying on the ground, surrounded by a faint dark energy, under the effects of the succubus’s sleep magic.
The scent coming from the succubus was strong, right behind the dog in that door.
Jesse climbed the steps and pushed open the slightly ajar door, suddenly feeling a strange evil presence in front of him!
A demon appeared out of nowhere, his body a deep purple color, his eyes a violet-blue without pupils, his face angular and aggressive, yet possessing a sinister beauty.
He had two long horns rising straight from the top of his head, his muscular body shining as if not real. Seeing Jesse in front of him, the demon coldly smiled and reached out his left hand directly, unlike the female succubus, his hands were not delicate human hands, but a black claw!
Jesse agilely dodged this grasp, feeling like if he had been caught, his face would have been scratched badly.
The succubus was fast, seeing Jesse dodge, he swung and flung the metal whip in his hand. Jesse blocked with his staff, the whip clanged against the staff, almost hitting his nose.
Jesse grabbed the staff and pulled back trying to restrain him, the succubus also tugged hard on the whip. This guy’s strength was clearly much greater than the previous succubus, Jesse had to exert all his strength just to barely hold on.
Seeing that strength alone was not enough, the succubus grabbed his own whip and spread black wings to soar into the air, kicking Jesse’s arm and magic wand with black hooves. The kick was fast and powerful, knocking Jesse’s hand loose.
The opponent leaped into the air and flapped his wings to leap away, Jesse immediately cast Curse of Weakness, but before finishing the spell, the opponent vanished into the shadows, losing sight.
"Oh no!" Jesse picked up the magic wand and was about to chase after when a black sword spun out from behind and stabbed something in midair, causing the incubus to appear again, howling and falling into a pile of junk!
"Thank you, master." Molofeel chuckled softly in Jesse’s ear, then dashed towards where the incubus had fallen like a black panther. She leaped over several obstacles and headed for the collapsed pile of junk, where the incubus was already getting up and running away.
Jesse followed closely and turned a corner, leading them to a rundown and dirty corner, filled with the stench of rotting garbage in the air.
Seeing that he couldn’t escape, the incubus turned back, his features turning ferocious due to being cornered, completely losing his previous beauty.
Holding a sword in one hand and a whip in the other, the incubus tried to strike but Molofeel caught the whip with one hand and used her tail to trap the arm trying to stab her.
She agilely kicked the incubus in the face, pinning him to the ground.
The whole process happened in just a moment, with movements so nimble and eerie that they didn’t seem like actions a humanoid creature could make.
As the incubus tried to get up from the junk pile, Molofeel grabbed his long horn, pointed the sword at his chest, and he dared not move.
Molofeel noticed Jesse’s surprised expression and whispered, "How about that, master? After all, the demons I’ve hunted the most are likely my own kind, except for the vile ones."
