Chapter 258: Mental Disorder
Jesse and Molofeel walked uphill for a while, and indeed they saw a cave formed by a crack in the mountains.
Although Little Medeiros was feeling dizzy, his aim was still pretty accurate.
Glancing into the cave, it was pitch black and nothing could be seen. He cast a Light Spell to probe inside, the passage was narrow but not deep, just that it suddenly became hot as they went further in.
By the time they reached the complex deep pit at the very bottom, Jesse was feeling quite dizzy from the heat.
Molofeel didn’t react at all, she went ahead until she passed Jesse and took the lead. Jesse watched her calm figure and deeply felt the gap in racial giftedness.
This is a lava cave, inside there is a light source, and the black Wyrmkin love to hide in such places.
Jesse gritted his teeth wanting to walk in directly, but the exaggerated temperature inside made it impossible to keep his eyes open. The lava cave was just too hot. Jesse couldn’t even roughly sense the temperature inside, because once the temperature exceeded forty to fifty degrees, he would lose his awareness.
In short, he couldn’t stand it in there for even a second. Did Medeiros and his son really come in here before? It’s unbelievable…
"Molofeel, go in and look for anything suspicious, I’ll watch from the entrance."
"Master, can you withstand this?"
"I’m okay, it’s just that I can’t bear this heat." Jesse took a few steps back towards the entrance, saying, "I better step out a bit, otherwise I might faint here. If there’s danger, don’t fight alone. Come out first before deciding what to do."
"I’ll follow your lead."
Molofeel entered the lava cave. Jesse sat outside catching his breath in a slightly cooler passage, slowly recovering. He felt like he was about to faint in there just now.
Just as Jesse started to feel a little better, he suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind him.
Jesse quickly turned his head, and saw a dark figure holding a knife, stabbing straight towards him!
He raised his arm to block, then grabbed the other person and struggled until he gained the upper hand, pushing him out to crash into the wall.
But the sudden burst of strength made Jesse, feeling dizzy, almost lose his balance.
At that moment, a surge of heat ran through his arm, and the knife pierced directly through his forearm.
The person in front of him looked human, but his eyes glowed with a strange purple-red light, holding the knife ready to attack again!
Jesse raised his magic wand, causing the other person to hesitate and not continue the attack, and they stood face to face against the narrow wall for a moment.
Jesse thought casting a spell at this distance might not be faster than being stabbed by the other person, who was also strong and clearly under some curse or magic.
Is this Old Medeiros?
While thinking about how to control this person, a sudden gust of wind came from behind, and Molofeel swiftly appeared in front with a black knife!
"Don’t kill him!"
Upon hearing Jesse’s shout, the succubus switched the sword in her hand, kicked the dark figure in the face, sending him rolling several times into the wall. The man tried to get up and attack with a dagger, but Molofeel’s tail forcefully struck the man’s wrist, leaving several bleeding marks and making the dagger fly far away. The sword’s tip was then pointed at his neck.
"What are you ordering? Master?! I should kill him now!"
The succubus glared fiercely at Jesse and screamed like a furious female ghost, her voice sounding crazed and far from the gentle tone from before.
"Molofeel… don’t be impulsive."
"But he dared to hurt you!"
Jesse cast a Light Spell to illuminate the passage and saw that the man lying on the ground being held down was a middle-aged man around forty, with a scruffy beard. His eyes glowed with a crazy dark purple.
Compared to this man, the succubus above him was even more terrifying. She now appeared like a devil with black hair that had emerged suddenly from some abyss.
Jesse stared at her burning magic eye and swallowed nervously, saying, "He is likely the person we are looking for. I was hoping to get his dragon scale back to report, if you kill him, we may lose our lead…"
At that moment, he felt the sharp pain in his forearm didn’t come as expected. He glanced and saw what should have been a puncture wound, but now there were only superficial wounds above and below his arm.
The succubus’s mouth was already dripping with bright red blood.
Her hand holding the sword was still shaking. Jesse raised his arm and said, "Molofeel, listen to me… You see I’m fine, right? Your magic saved me."
Upon hearing this, the fierce face of the succubus softened significantly. Her protruding sharp teeth slowly retreated behind her lips, and the muscles in her arm relaxed.
The black blade in her hand had already pierced a bloody hole on the man’s neck. And at that moment, the man’s breathing became heavier, muttering something under his breath.
He stared at the succubus clutching him tightly. Fear filled his eyes, and the purple hue seemed less prominent than before.
"He seems to be regaining consciousness, you should disappear for now…"
Upon hearing those words, the succubus vanished before his eyes. Jesse closed his eyes, easing the pain in his arm for a moment, then went to check on the man.
The man lay on the ground, his face swollen and purple, with almost no trace of the darkness that was there before in his eyes.
But he stared straight at the top of the cave, not even reacting when Jesse waved a bright light in front of him using Arcane magic.
Jesse dragged him out of the cave, propped him against a rock, and slapped his unswollen face hard. The man finally took a deep breath, cried out in pain, and his eyes darted around uncontrollably.
When he saw Jesse clearly in front of him, he was so scared that he crawled away on all fours to escape…
"Demon! Demon!" he shouted as he ran.
"Medeiros! Don’t you want to see your son?!" Jesse called out.
The man turned back upon hearing that name and with a crying voice asked, "My son? Who the heck are you?"
"I am a mage from Wizard’s Sanctum," Jesse said, holding his ground. "Can you see clearly now who I am? I came from Stormwind to rescue you."
"I, I…" Humbury paused, rubbed his eyes vigorously, and said, "I feel like there’s a demon inside… darn it…"
"You’ve been cursed," Jesse said, "Do you remember who cast the curse on you? Do you have any memories of what happened before? Or have you completely forgotten?"
"Curse?" Humbury tapped his forehead and said, "Yes… yes, there was a woman in the cave…"
Jesse understood that the father and son had been tricked by a Wyrmkin Mageweaver. Suddenly, Humbury muttered for a while and said, "No, darn it, my son, my son is still in there! Mage!"
He spoke and tried to go back into the cave, but Jesse ran over and grabbed him, saying, "Your son is down there, in that hollow on the hillside!"
Pointing in the direction of the hollow, he said, "Do you see it? Under that slope, your son has been captured by a Wyrmkin. Did you have no idea at all?"
"Wyrmkin?" Humbury asked anxiously, "What are Wyrmkin… how did they capture my son? I must save him, mage, you have to help me."
Jesse grabbed his collar and shook him vigorously, saying, "Calm down, darn it, I have already saved him, and now he’s waiting down there."
