Chapter 250: How to Become a Dark Magician
At night on the way home, Jesse kept thinking about going to Redridge the next day.
Setting off in the afternoon, reaching Eastvale Inn at night, resting in Lakeshire the next morning, then going up the mountain to find that ranger, that way the whole day could be taken care of.
Going to explore the north of Redridge on the weekend, even if they can’t find any Dark Iron Dwarves tracks, at least they can scout out the terrain, laying the foundation for deeper exploration later on.
Upon arriving at the doorstep, he looked at the inconspicuous little building where his rented room was located, feeling that small actually had its own advantages.
The location here is a bit remote, so the rent is cheap, and there are very few mages or priests passing by, not enough to attract attention. If someone were to suspect the presence of demons, it would be difficult to imagine so many demons hiding in such a narrow and rundown place.
If he were to look for a bigger house, considering he is only an apprentice… it might attract more suspicion.
So for now, he will just make do like this.
Opening the door, Molofeel was lying on the bed, twirling his tail.
"Finally back, it was so boring without you at home, come and play with me."
"I still have classes tomorrow, Molofeel." Jesse said, "I can’t afford a Mana Potion anymore, so please don’t torment me."
"I’m not secretly draining your mana, can’t we just play for fun?"
"I don’t believe you." Jesse placed the bag on the ground and said, "In the end, you’ll do whatever you want to do."
"Ah!" Molofeel scratched the wall and said, "Is this the decision you made before? Do you want me to stay celibate forever?"
"Forever? At most fifty or sixty years, maybe I’ll croak in a few days, then you can find someone else!"
"So last night was the last bit of tenderness we’ll ever have in this lifetime?"
"Who cares what you call it?" Jesse raised his head and said, "Your tenderness almost set the entire forest on fire, so what would your passion do? Blow up the whole Stormwind?"
Molofeel lifted his eyes and said, "I don’t care, I want it!"
"Let’s not think about that now." Jesse said, "I want to rest well tonight."
He opened the bag and checked its contents carefully. Then he glanced meaningfully at the imp sitting inside and said, "Don’t disturb me while I’m sleeping, Saenor."
"Got it, master." Saenor patted his chest and squinted slightly.
It felt like they were exchanging a secret code.
After hanging up his clothes, he sat at the table and announced, "I’ll be going on a trip tomorrow afternoon and might be away for a few days. You two need to behave yourselves at home, no fighting or causing trouble, keep an eye on each other."
"Yes!" the imp responded.
"For a few days?" the succubus said angrily, "No way!"
"This is a stark contrast, Molofeel, can’t you learn from him?" Jesse said. "And what’s the point of saying no? When I say no, it means no."
The succubus swung her tail in annoyance, making a sharp sound as the tip left a scratch on the wall, startling Jesse.
"You damaged the wall, I’ll have to pay for that, you darned…" He rushed to the bed, grabbed the succubus by the neck, pushing her against the wall, saying, "You want to die, huh?"
The succubus, held tightly, closed her eyes slightly and whispered, "Keep going… master, that’s it… choke me to death, quickly…"
"Damn pervert…" Jesse shook his hand and ran to the bed to carefully examine the scratches on the wall, trying to rub them off with his fingers, but failed.
Oh no, a deep scratch appeared, not just the usual light ones.
This spendthrift woman.
Jesse gritted his teeth, and the succubus seemed to sense his real anger and involuntarily moved aside.
"Get lost! I want to sleep!"
Molofeel sat on the table, glancing sideways, touched his neck and asked, "Then what were you doing outside?"
"Just taking a walk, helping someone out."
"Then I want to go too."
"Where are you going?" Jesse asked while lying down, "I’m going horse riding, are you going to scare it half to death by sitting on its back?"
"Are horses more complicated than humans?" succubus asked with crossed legs, "If I can charm humans, why can’t I charm horses?"
Jesse’s mouth twitched and he asked, "Why do you charm horses?"
Molofeel laughed and said, "Just to make them obedient! What do you think, master? Ah…you don’t think I’m going to…don’t worry, my dear, you’re the only one for me, I won’t have a second one…"
She climbed over while talking, Jesse grabbed her horn and said, "Stop, don’t think about delaying my sleep tonight."
Succubus shook her head to break free from Jesse’s grasp and said, "Let me go out to protect you, as long as you promise, I won’t bother you anymore, okay?"
Jesse said, "Then go ahead and bother me, I can just close my eyes and fall asleep."
After saying that, Jesse pushed succubus away and lay on his side, while succubus grumbled behind him.
With succubus rubbing against his leg, Jesse was curious to see how strong she really was.
Last night’s fight with the wild boar was not really a fight because Molofeel didn’t have any weapons, he also didn’t want to kill the boar, and he was already weakened by his own fire, showing no real fighting capability.
Although it’s not visually difficult to find the mountaineer, it’s still quite dangerous to go look for the Dark Iron Dwarves.
After all, north of Redridge, there are not only Dark Iron Dwarves, but also Orcs, and the threat of terrifying beasts surviving from Burning Steppes.
If Jesse is alone, he probably wouldn’t dare to continue towards the deeper parts of Burning Steppes, which would narrow down the search area a lot.
Since there’s no money reward for this trip, Greed wouldn’t be too willing to go either.
Maybe it’s better to bring these two demons along and perform some real demon magic.
In that case, it’s best not to stay at an inn in Lakeshire, as all kinds of people come and go there, including elves, making it easy to notice something unusual.
However, if he brings the two demons along, he might become the most evil being in Redridge Forest, making camping safe with the evil aura of the black dragon cloak… creatures wouldn’t dare approach and it’s enough to just tie the horse in Lakeshire.
By the way, will the horse be afraid of the cloak’s aura?
He really hasn’t tried before.
If that succubus could charm the horse and make it behave well, it would be quite convenient.
"Alright, stop rubbing against me, come with me, Molofeel."
"Really?" the succubus asked, leaning on his arm.
"Can you use that sword?" Jesse asked.
Glancing at the sword hanging behind her, the succubus said, "This Nathrezim’s thing? Of course I can, I have always fought with such short swords."
Hearing this, Jesse curiously turned around, and the succubus sat on his lap smoothly.
"Don’t you use a whip?"
"Using a whip is for interrogators, master. I haven’t been one for a long time. When I worked for other demons, I specialized in hunting traitors."
"Do you work for other demons?"
"A long time ago."
"Is it related to your wings?"
"Hmm… you’re curious about that." Molofeel said, "It’s somewhat related."
"Is it because of a battle? Were your wings cut off by some demon during a hunt?"
"Impossible." Molofeel replied, "My wings were torn off by the Annihilan Overlord I pledged loyalty to. Demons who work for him are not allowed to have wings, whether they are Doomguards or Sayaad."
"Why did he do that?"
"Perhaps because he lost his own in a duel tens of thousands of years ago, so he envies those of us who have wings. How would I know? I don’t care about what he thinks."
"Brutallus." Jesse whispered.
"You actually know his name!" the succubus pounced on Jesse’s chest and said, "Ah… It’s strange that this ancient name came out of your mouth. What a marvel."
A sweet and pungent smell almost took Jesse’s breath away, he turned his face and said, "The Pit Lord with broken wings from legends… must leave a deep impression on Demonologists, right? But does he know your true name? I don’t think he’s dead yet, right?"
"He used a powerful Arcane magic stone that was only loyal to him to control the souls of all his demon servants. Even in death, they couldn’t escape his control, only to be reshaped and enslaved in his demon stronghold. So, he didn’t need to know their real names. Later, a Demon Lord named Kil’jaeden destroyed his castle, smashed his power stone, and subdued him… it was a kind of rescue for me, but my wings can never be restored in any way."
"Even if you return to the Twisting Nether to rebuild your body, can’t your wings grow back?" Jesse asked.
"I think he may have torn a part of my soul directly. Do you want them to grow back?" The succubus twisted her body to show Jesse the broken bones behind her, making Jesse suddenly feel phantom pains in his back.
"Do you think I’m ugly?"
"Not really ugly, quite handsome, like a warrior who has been through many fierce battles!"
"Really?" the succubus smiled and said, "I also find the demon wings quite cumbersome, right? Especially in this small house."
"Don’t say my place is small," Jesse said, "I need to rest now, you go down, you’re keeping me from sleeping."
"So, before bed, at least give me a kiss, my master, and I’ll go down immediately," the succubus pleaded, lowering her eyes.
"I won’t kiss a demon."
"I know you dislike demons, so you won’t lose out. I’ll exchange something good for it."
"What thing?" Jesse asked curiously.
"An ability that can help you after you go out," the succubus’s tone became particularly serious. "It’s a benefit that the lower-class demon definitely can’t give you. I want to increase your liking for demons a little bit."
"An ability?" Jesse asked skeptically. "First, tell me what it is."
"Have you heard of the Soul Link between a servant and a master?" the succubus explained. "Although I’ve never tried it with a human, I know that other Sayaad have successfully linked souls with humans… it shouldn’t be difficult."
Soul Link?
Is that the talent of the Demon Warlock?
The talent effect is… to transfer some of the damage the master receives to the demon servant!
This is a powerful move in demon magic for player versus player duels, it’s a terrible talent that many versions have to disable in flag battles. But here, could Soul Link have any other effects that are not in other games?
For example, if the servant gets hurt, the master will also get hurt…
Molofeel isn’t hiding something, right?
Why doesn’t Saenor call his own name? It’s needed now.
He can’t possibly not know about Soul Link, right? Impossible…
Jesse muttered, "So if I get hurt…"
"I will feel your pain for you, since you understand this, I don’t need to explain anymore!" the succubus said, wrapping around Jesse’s neck. "The pain you feel, I endure. Just thinking about it makes me unbearable, I really want to establish a Soul Link with you quickly, and then try stabbing you again…"
At first, Jesse was a little moved, but hearing the last part made him suddenly push her away. "You are twisted, is there something wrong with your mind too?"
"Can’t even joke?" Molofeel asked, "Just say if you want it or not!"
"Are you sure?"
"If I’m not sure, why would I tell you?"
"Okay, how do we do it?"
"First, fall completely and wholeheartedly in love with me, after all, it’s a connection of souls, to bring our souls closer…"
"Jesse Seso… Jesse Seso!" imp’s voice… finally worked, with no response, Jesse thought the alarm was broken.
"Ha! That’s not gonna work." he turned to the side.
"Okay okay, I was just kidding," succubus hugged his shoulder and turned him around, "I’ll tell you how exactly, when you take me out to a place where there’s no one, but right now you have to kiss me first."
"Wait, does establishing a demon link have to drain my magic anymore?" Jesse asked.
The succubus asked, "How can you guide the soul if your magic is drained? Will you agree or not?"
"No worries, we’ll talk about it when the time comes."
"You jerk!"
"You said that swearing means you…"
"You jerk!"
