Chapter 233: New Things
When they returned to Stormwind, it was already evening, and the dwarf followed Jesse to the intersection leading to his rented house.
Jesse glanced at him and asked, "Aren’t you going back?"
"I want to go with you to Vereesa’s place," Greed said. "I must watch you hand over those materials to the elves."
Jesse asked, "You just want to know where Vereesa lives, don’t you?"
"Do you think I would be interested in a little white-haired girl?" Greed said. "Hurry up, put down the luggage and let’s go."
Jesse shook his head and said, "Don’t count on it. I can’t bring these papers into the Mage Quarter. It’s too risky. I was already nervous enough at Westbrook Garrison at noon."
"Then how will you do it?" the dwarf asked.
"I’ll keep them at home first, then arrange to meet Vereesa to exchange them in a safe place. You go back for now. Let’s have lunch together tomorrow noon, and I’ll tell you more details. You don’t expect me to learn Necromancy overnight, do you?"
"You could copy one during the night," Greed suggested.
Jesse took out all the papers and placed them in front of the dwarf, saying, "Copy them in one night? Do you think I can copy these intricate runes overnight? If I had that skill, I would apply to Stormwind Library directly. I wouldn’t risk my life for money with you in the wind and rain."
Greed looked at the papers and said, "Alright… I’ll wait for you at Wizard’s Sanctum tomorrow noon."
"What about the coins, the Orc coins?" Jesse asked, eyeing Greed’s bag.
"I’m getting rid of them in a few days," Greed replied. "I can probably sell them for a gold or two. I’ll share it with you… It should be something to be happy about, right, Jesse? Remember when we got that Gurubashi coin on the ship? Look at what it has become… Get rid of those Necromancer stuff soon, don’t let it haunt you!"
"I will," Jesse promised.
"Then I believe you," Greed nodded.
"See you tomorrow at noon."
"See you tomorrow at noon."
Watching the dwarf disappear around the street corner, Jesse went back home, tidied up his things, and hung his cloak and robe by the window to air out.
Forget about the necrotic parchment, just the scratches on the cloak and the arrow hole on the robe were enough to make him queasy for the night.
Sitting on the bed, he couldn’t take his eyes off the scratch, unable to rub it off no matter how hard he tried with his fingers.
With a sigh, he checked his luggage and drew out the sword.
To prevent the sword from tearing through anything, he and Greed carefully wrapped the blade with rags, but even so, the sight of the sinister black blade peeking out was enough to make one’s heart race.
"Saenor, come out."
"Oh, master." imp jumped out and also saw the sword placed in front of them.
"What is this sword?" Jesse asked.
"It’s a Nathrezim dagger," imp said. "Even just looking at it, you can tell by its shape that it’s the weapon of those black demons, like a ceremonial dagger. The hilt looks like two ghost bat fangs!"
"I know about Nathrezim, but what is Tosrezm?" Jesse asked.
Imp said, "Ah, they are loyal servants of Nathrezim… They are sent by them to various places in the Twisting Nether to deliver messages and carry out orders… I’ve seen these black demons flying in the sky on Nastoy! They are much more savage and violent than their superiors, their wings not like flesh wings, but rather two huge meat hooks, covered with magical symbols of the Nathrezim language, each of them carrying sharp daggers or terrifying razors! These creatures are like an ugly Nathrezim forcibly bred with the offspring of Ghost King Yaroslbal! Ha ha!"
Jesse felt awkward about this description and asked while holding the sword, "Why doesn’t Azeroth have Tosrezm?"
Imp chuckled, "No! They are far less powerful than their masters, perhaps they dare not appear outside the demon’s territory, fearing to expose their master’s tracks… Forget it, I’m just rambling, I dare not guess their master’s thoughts, hehe! But since they are willing to give this weapon to a Death Knight, it means that for them, Orc souls have replaced the duties of Tosrezm…"
"So, is this sword… sturdy?"
Jesse swiped it back and forth, although imp described the weapon like a dagger, in reality, it was longer than any dagger he had seen, even longer than the long dagger wielded by the Death Knight he encountered in Dalaran.
Maybe it was because the Tosrezm creatures were much bigger than humans, so the ceremonial dagger they held looked like a short sword to humans.
"Is it sturdy enough?" Imp chuckled and said, "Are you questioning the craftsmanship of those devil’s weapons, master?"
Jesse couldn’t help but chuckle. He hid the short sword on his waist under his clothes and said, "Watch over things at home, I’m going to the Mage Quarter for a bit."
"Go on, master, go on…"
It was already late. Jesse quickened his pace.
He entered the building, made his way up to the front of the apartment, organized his words a bit, and placed his hand on the door.
Thinking of getting rid of these things sooner, and relaxing sooner.
"Mrs. Asselwin?" He knocked on the door and asked, "Mrs. Asselwin Goldenthorn, are you home? I’m Jesse Seso. Ma’am?"
No one answered.
She might have gone to Duskwood and not come back yet.
Yeah, it’s only been three or four days, maybe she’s just arrived in Darkshire now. It’s even stranger to stay here, right?
These days, I’ve been worried, I haven’t really thought about Vereesa’s issue.
He stood at the door for a while, thinking about dealing with Greed’s urgent matters tomorrow, and his head started to ache.
What should we do now?
All the potions Ursula gave have run out, so Jesse is planning to go back to The Slaughtered Lamb to ask if she can give a bit more.
He started feeling a bit uneasy just as he was about to reach the hall.
In just a few days, he drank all that medicine, didn’t even go check north of Redridge, and had no results before coming back to ask for more… But if he goes directly to the alchemy shop to buy, he probably won’t have enough bounty from defeating Hogger to buy the medicine.
To be honest, if it weren’t for the money stolen from the bandits and selling those strange coins, the two of them wouldn’t have earned much on this trip at all.
However, they had already expected that if they didn’t think they could gain some extra benefits from finding Hogger, they wouldn’t have set off at the beginning.
In the dimly lit hall with only a faint light, Erlan and Surena were sitting in a corner drinking.
"Jesse Seso, welcome back," Erlan waved over and said, "Ursula told us you were back. At first, I thought she had gone crazy from all those drugs."
"I came to see Ursula a few days ago, but you were both not around," Jesse said, thinking to himself that this guy really didn’t hold a grudge, he was forgetful after a fight.
"Jesse, you’ve been gone for so long that I actually missed you a bit. Welcome back," Surena smiled and said.
"Thank you!"
Jesse knew that these two might already be drunk.
At that moment, a person walked out from another passageway.
It was "Blackclaw Zardeth," dressed in a thick cloak as if he was about to go out, and he raised an eyebrow upon seeing Jesse.
He still hasn’t spoken, Surena shouted from over there, "Aren’t you going to let Jesse try that strange spell, Zardeth? I remember you mentioning it to Gakin before."
"Of course we’ll try it, Jesse, are you interested?" Zardeth took off his cloak and hung it aside again.
