Chapter 213: Unexpected Visitor
The next morning, Jesse carried a small box containing the Faerie Dragon’s tentacles and hurried to the Wizard’s Sanctum.
Jesse thought that this time Amy Malin didn’t express herself properly, feeling sorry for the witty knowledge exchange they had in Dalaran.
Following the familiar path to Malin’s study, Jesse opened the door and saw a woman in a grass-green cloak standing by the desk.
The sunlight shining through the window cast clear shadows in the room, making it hard for Jesse to see the person clearly.
"Amy, Happy New Year! Look what I brought you."
The woman turned around, wait, this… is actually an elf?!
"Ms. Malin just went out, human, but she’ll be back soon."
Jesse felt the familiar arrogant tone… He squinted and realized it was Vereesa!
How could Vereesa be here?
Jesse touched his neck, wondering if he was having a strange dream again.
Just as he doubted himself, the elf asked, "Is it Mr. Jesse Seso? You’re back?"
Suddenly, someone entered from behind and interrupted their conversation. Jesse turned around, it was Amy Malin.
She held a stack of files and was about to speak to the elf when she saw Jesse. Her expression turned excited.
"Jesse! It’s you! Did you come back yesterday or this morning? You seem darker, did you not see the sun in the North?"
"If you knew what I experienced on this journey…" Jesse sighed.
"You must tell me all about it," Amy smiled. "By the way, let me introduce you to Mrs. Asselwin from Quel’Thalas. Mrs. Asselwin, this is my good student Jesse Seso."
"Jesse, Mrs. Asselwin is here on a mission from the Silvermoon City Ranger-General to investigate the remnants of the tribe. Unfortunately, my father is busy discussing school enrollment with Master Andromath and cannot help. He asked me to give her the investigation materials about Orcs. In the afternoon, don’t forget to go to Master Andromath’s office to register."
"I will remember," Jesse said.
Asselwin?
Vereesa?
Did she say the name backwards?
"Asselwin" was staring at herself intently, looking very stiff. Jesse understood what this meant – not to reveal her true identity.
"Hello, Mrs. Asselwin," Jesse said. The female elf cleared her throat and replied, "Hello, Mr. Jesse Seso. Thank you very much, Miss Malin. I will take my leave now."
She took the paper, nodded slightly, and left the room. Jesse’s gaze followed her until the door closed.
"These elves are quite a headache. They speak as if ordering servants around, even saying thank you sounds strange," Amy whispered, shaking her head, but then noticed Jesse’s expression.
"What’s wrong, Jesse, do you know her?"
"I think I know her a little bit," Jesse said. "All elves look the same. I saw a lot of elves in Dalaran, and they do look exactly like you said."
"Ah, what a trip to Dalaran!" Amy leaned on the table and asked, "So, did you remember everything you were supposed to?"
"How could I forget," Jesse said, placing the box on the table. "Take a look inside."
A hint of disappointment crossed Amy’s face, but when she opened it, she immediately widened her eyes in surprise.
"By all that is holy, this is a phoenix feather!"
"Ah, um, you…" Jesse said, "You actually know about this?"
"Of course, I do," Amy sounded a bit guilty. "I saw an archmage from Kirin Tor using this symbol a long time ago. It’s so precious. I didn’t expect you to buy something so expensive for me."
"I didn’t actually spend any money," Jesse said. "I won this as a prize from an event called ‘The Feast of Winter Veil’ in Dalaran. They didn’t tell me how much this item cost, I just thought it was beautiful and suitable to give to you as a thank-you gift."
"I didn’t really do much, thank you so much, Jesse! I can’t imagine if there will be any bigger surprises this year!"
Amy walked around the table and hugged Jesse tightly for a while before letting go, leaving Jesse smelling a mysterious perfume.
"Oh, I need to go back to my bedroom first, or else Dad might try to take it away! Let’s talk about Dalaran when you have time, okay?"
After saying this, she left, leaving Jesse alone in the room.
Ah, a hug feels warm.
Malin is busy discussing things with Andromath, so it looks like she won’t be able to come here for a while. Jesse decides to go to Andromath’s place in the afternoon to ask about the enrollment procedures.
How about buying some decent clothes this morning? Especially a mage robe. Remembering the scene where the Death Knight caused trouble and burned 12 silver coins hurt Jesse’s heart.
But where is Vereesa?
Walking out the door, Jesse saw a green figure leaning against the wall near the Alchemy Room door, watching him. As Jesse came out, the figure stood up.
"Ms. Vereesa, how did you come to Stormwind?" he asked as he walked over. "Did you use a fake name?"
Vereesa glanced at the Wizard’s Sanctum in the distance and said, "The name is fake, Mr. Jesse Seso, but the reason for coming to Stormwind is not fake – I truly am here to investigate matters concerning the Horde in the Kingdom of Stormwind."
Jesse glanced at the stack of files in her arms and asked, "Is it related to the Dragonmaw Orcs in the Wetlands? My teacher, Master Malin, has been tracking the Dragonmaw Orcs, and I believe he would be willing to share his research findings as much as possible."
"No," Vereesa replied. "I came specifically to find you."
"To find me?"
Is it because of that directive?
So the Reliquary is collaborating with the Farstriders?
Vereesa nodded, "It’s precisely because we know each other that Sylvanas agreed to let me carry out this mission. As for these files, it’s just that I couldn’t find you earlier, so I wanted to see if there were other ways to resolve my current difficulties. Shall we find a place to chat slowly? It’s a bit cold here, and I see you’re dressed quite lightly."
Jesse glanced at his shirt and realized that wearing it in winter was indeed a bit inappropriate, especially in Stormwind; if it were in Tirisfal, he would have frozen to death in the streets by now.
"Let’s go to the tavern, The Gilded Rose, or The Blue Recluse?"
"What’s the difference between these two?"
"The Gilded Rose has regular people, while The Blue Recluse is full of mages."
"The Gilded Rose."
