Chapter 170: Setting the Stage
Kel’Thuzad had already copied the crooked runes on this armor and provided annotations, distributing a copy to every kingdom present.
Jesse carefully looked at these few sentences and felt that with his level of Orcish language proficiency, he could almost understand what they were trying to convey.
He thought this sentence might be a kind of magic spell, written by warlocks using the power of blood, adding even more evil enchantments to the already very evil armor. But it actually described scenes, including green grasslands, towering mountains, and a vast sea separating the two…
Watching, Jesse felt that this was the Orcs praising their new world Azeroth after contaminating their own planet with fel magic. But he also wondered why the Orcs used blood to write these things.
It wasn’t until he saw the last two runes that he understood.
"Can’t go back."
Can it be that this is Draenor written here?
Connecting with the game content, were the green grasslands Nagrand or Terokkar? Were the towering mountains in Frostfire Ridge or Gorgrond… Is the sea the Zangar Sea?
Jesse found it hard to understand why this Orc wrote these things before his death. Was he missing his homeland, or did Azeroth remind him of his home? Or was he in pain because of losing the war and unable to return through the Dark Portal? But no one could know for sure.
Kel’Thuzad explained the content of the runes to everyone, hoping to use this odd armor with strange writings as a prelude to show a different side of Orcish relics to those present.
"Peering into the other side of Orcish civilization."
This part can be pretty politically incorrect, especially because this metal armor indicates that the owner may be a very strong warrior with a high position, as most Orc foot soldiers wear light armor or even nothing at all.
Like the Warsong Clan, the chieftain enters the battlefield shirtless.
Orc tribes that rely on heavy armor for protection, especially in these black and red tones, are most likely the fiercest tribes in the tribe, such as the Blackrock or Dragonmaw.
In other words, the owner of this armor may have killed many humans before finally starting to miss his homeland before dying.
Scholars learning Orcish language are generally more tolerant of Orcs among ordinary people. Hearing Kel’Thuzad’s explanation, some people still showed complex expressions.
Jesse tried to guess his motives. Whether as one of the leaders of the Kirin Tor, the host of the Orcish language conference, or even as a secret practitioner of Necromancy, Kel’Thuzad certainly wanted visitors to speak freely without any reservations.
So, he may have intended to start with something that would push the boundaries of "offense," so everyone could feel at ease and not be influenced by external opinions when sharing knowledge.
This way, he could gather the most information from the Orcish language materials sent from all over.
Next, scholars from the Kingdom of Kul Tiras presented a letter and a rune on a sword that had not yet been translated.
The letter probably said that Orc warships departed from Stormwind Harbor to attack Kul Tiras. But since the war is over, the letter doesn’t have much military value anymore.
Even during the war, the Horde’s warships weren’t as powerful as Kul Tiras’ ships. The most terrifying thing was the appearance of Red Dragons in the sea along with the Orc warships.
After translating the runes on the weapon together, they finally figured out a name and a meaningful surname. They guessed that the owner of the weapon was probably a Bloodguard from the Blacktooth Grin clan.
Jesse noticed that Kel’Thuzad wasn’t interested in these two things, but he still said some polite words, praising the materials brought from Kul Tiras and discussing knowledge about weapons and Orc warships in a decent manner.
Maybe because these things were not related to Necromancy.
Jesse glanced at his pocket watch; it was already past five o’clock. If all the visiting scholars were to present their belongings for discussion, it might take until 9 or even 10 o’clock. Kel’Thuzad, Orc information, the true purpose of the meeting…
Thinking about these, Jesse started to feel uneasy, especially after considering what Kaffir had told him about the rare appearances of black dragons.
By the end of tonight and early tomorrow, he planned to discuss with Greed about leaving Dalaran to go to Alterac Mountains. In any case, it was no longer suitable to stay here.
However, the other scholars and students didn’t seem to be getting tired or frustrated yet.
It was almost 7 o’clock when the discussion about the Orcish language of the people from Gilneas ended, Kel’Thuzad looked over this way.
"The next session is for Master Caro Duchamp from the Kingdom of Stormwind and his students," said the archmage from the Kirin Tor, glancing at the materials in his hands. "Master Duchamp is here to share about the communication between Orcs and other races in Azeroth, as well as some records of learning the common language in Stormwind."
The Kingdom of Stormwind was hit hardest by the Orc invasion. When Duchamp reported on the language traces left by Orcs in Stormwind that he and his students had explored and discovered over the past year, scholars from other countries listened particularly attentively.
Jesse wasn’t in the mood to listen to his teacher anymore, knowing it was soon his turn.
Facing Kel’Thuzad, he felt he couldn’t speak blindly about some things anymore. Kel’Thuzad was a very sharp mage, and when it came to hints about the Sacred Tool, he needed to be more cautious.
But being too cautious that they wouldn’t understand… The manuscript was not yet finished when Jesse suddenly heard Kel’Thuzad call his name.
"Next is Mr. Jesse Seso. You have an untranslated order from an Orc high-ranking officer, right? You can bring it up, and if you would like, I can ask Mr. Bronjahm to recite it in the Orcish language for you, and we can work on the translation together."
Kel’Thuzad’s tone was not as enthusiastic as before, as there had already been several so-called battle plans and troop deployment orders, all of which were outdated materials from years ago.
"Thank you, Master Kel’Thuzad," Jesse stood up and said. "I believe this order is very important, and I suspect it was issued by Gul’dan’s student, Teron Gorefiend himself."
When people heard this name, they started talking about it. Duchamp widened his eyes, and Kel’Thuzad’s calm expression showed a subtle change of emotion. Is he interested?
