Chapter 169: Hidden Agendas
Is the person in front of him Kel’Thuzad?
Kel’Thuzad is the first lich, originally the most powerful mage seduced into corruption by the original Lich King, Ner’zhul.
In the future, he not only orchestrated the devastating undead plague in the Kingdom of Lordaeron, founded the cult of the Cult of the Damned worshipping the Lich King, but also assisted in the corruption of Prince Arthas guided by the Lich King.
Of course, his greatest "achievement" was summoning Archimonde using the Book of Medivh, allowing this fearsome Demon Lord to return to Azeroth after ten thousand years.
If it were not for the Night Elves sacrificing the ancient powers hidden in Mount Hyjal to destroy his physical form, blasting his demonic soul back to the Twisting Nether, the whole world would have been destroyed before the start of "World of Warcraft".
Why did he come to host?
Duchamp leaned closer and whispered, "Have you heard of this archmage, Jesse? Isn’t it exciting?"
Jesse nodded and said, "I’ve heard of him before."
There wasn’t much joy, but there was definitely plenty of surprise.
Kel’Thuzad was different from many others who were once normal but later caused trouble. Countless evidence suggests that he had been curious about dark magic, especially Necromancy related to immortality, even before the Orc War. Witnessing the Death Knights created by Gul’dan during the Hillsbrad battle only fueled his research. The dark arts of the orcs showed him another path to achieve immortality besides becoming a Tirisfal Guardian.
Years later, when things were exposed, Antonidas planned to banish Kel’Thuzad from Dalaran. However, Kel’Thuzad argued in hopes of making Antonidas see the future of Necromancy. By that time, his craving for eternal existence and resurrection had turned into complete madness.
Therefore, Kel’Thuzad planned to gather Orcish language researchers to Dalaran, and the purpose was not hard to guess.
At this moment, besides Deathwing and his son Nefarian, who liked to study Black Magic, the most powerful wielders of necromantic power on Azeroth were the orcs still left here.
Kel’Thuzad wanted to advance his research further by learning the Orcish language as a tool, collecting various materials related to Death Knights from all over the world, and extracting information beneficial to his research.
If that’s the case, the letter in Jesse’s hand might inspire Kel’Thuzad to go to the Kingdom of Stormwind to find the lost servant of Gorefiend, or at least trace the magical remnants that he left behind.
But how can we remind Kirin Tor about the Eye of Dalaran if we don’t deliver this letter?
Wait, this letter doesn’t mention the exact location of the recipient because it was directly delivered by an Orc Warlock. Only that Orc Warlock and Gorefiend himself know where the recipient "Angol" is.
Jesse could make up another place and mislead Kel’Thuzad about where he found the letter, without changing the meaning of the letter, while still revealing the information he wants everyone to know.
So where should he claim to have found it?
Living in Stormwind, the place shouldn’t be too far from Stormwind and should be remote, with few people daring to go there, so much so that an Orc’s body could remain undiscovered for a long time, allowing Jesse to find it.
Maps in his mind expanded in circles until they pinpointed a location – Deadwind Pass where Karazhan is located.
He could say he got lost on the way to Darkshire and ended up in Deadwind Pass. As for why he got lost… well, anything can happen at Karazhan.
Just to observe the strange happenings around Karazhan, Kirin Tor created an organization called The Violet Eye to investigate gradually.
He didn’t believe that Kel’Thuzad would go to Karazhan alone just on a vague order, risking discovery to study some death magic.
Even if we dare to go, it’s no use. After all, it’s just a story made up by Jesse, we won’t find anything.
While Kel’Thuzad was giving a speech upstairs, Jesse quickly made up an adventure story about finding this letter, jotting down key words on the margins or blank spaces of the speech draft he previously wrote. The whole paper was now filled with writing.
Duchamp couldn’t help but ask, "He’s just giving an introduction, why does he need to remember so much?"
"But that’s Kel’Thuzad, Master Duchamp," Jesse whispered. "I need to carefully remember every word he says. He’s a famous person, after all, his speech is always unique."
Duchamp replied, "Not necessarily. Sometimes the person standing in the middle of the stage is just a lucky fool."
Jesse completely agreed, but Kel’Thuzad definitely didn’t belong to that category.
The archmage on the stage was still speaking loudly.
"Whether you accept coexistence with the Orcs or not, we must acknowledge that the Orcish language is a new culture we must engage with. Many kings, ministers, nobles out there have not realized this yet."
"And I believe that each and every one of you sitting here, through the process of encountering different languages, have come to appreciate the diversity of cultures and ideas, and have quickly realized how important it is for us. Because with language as the key, we can unlock the doors of different civilizations, learn to objectively and rationally view new things, and discard the prejudices we have nurtured for decades from within our own cultural confines, to consider what impact new things would have on our society and people — both positively and negatively."
Are new things like necromancy considered new things?
Listening to Kel’Thuzad’s long speech, Jesse couldn’t shake the feeling that he had ulterior motives. After Kel’Thuzad finished speaking, he paused for a moment and continued, "Perhaps many young people may disagree with me, but that’s okay, it’s just my personal opinion."
"Next, please allow me to show you a very special carrier of Orcish language runes. My student, Mr. Bronjahm, will recite the Orcish language runes on it. He is a talented researcher in Orcish language and spells, even my mastery of Orcish language recitation is nowhere near his. He can now communicate almost seamlessly with the Orcs in the asylum."
The name Bronjahm sounded familiar to Jesse.
Then, several assistants helped bring up a red metal armor that looked like it had been stained with blood for everyone to see. Everyone in the room raised their heads and half stood up to get a clearer view.
This is an armor with runes, the runes on the armor are written in blood.
