Chapter 107: Sheep Experiment
This leather cloak was slightly heavier compared to the usual linen or woolen cloaks. After putting it on, Jesse walked back and forth in front of his house and could truly feel the heaviness of the monster skin.
However, from the outside, it didn’t feel as rough as typical animal hide garments. At first glance, it didn’t look much different from a regular cloth coat, and the surface of the Incendosaur’s back fin was much smoother than expected.
The connection between the cloak and hood, as well as the shoulder area, are very strong, it seems like they are made of tough outer shell stitched together.
Incendosaur isn’t a real dragon, but a giant Fire Lizard that lives in hot areas, even near lava.
When Larson mentioned that the clothes were made of Incendosaur skin, he thought there might be a bad smell, but instead the clothes had a light scent, indicating that they were carefully processed.
Since it costs three gold coins, it must be worth it. Jesse adjusted his posture and felt like he was worth more now.
Jesse stood on the street for a while, proudly watching the passersby, hoping that someone with a keen eye would recognize him.
However, after standing for half an hour, nobody glanced his way.
Huh, maybe people living near this canal don’t have good taste.
But that’s not a bad thing. If everyone could see the value of this cape, wouldn’t it be risky to be watched every day and possibly stolen?
Thinking about this, Jesse wrapped his cloak tightly.
Talking about it, Larson said this cloak can resist fire and make fire magic stronger, not sure if it’s true?
Jesse doesn’t know any magic related to fire right now, but his teacher Malin is an expert in fire element magic, and warlocks’ attack magic often involves fire. This clothing can help him in his future development.
However, Varian Wrynn may have chosen this clothing because of the burns on his hands.
Jesse looked at the back of his hand, the mark from the burning sword gauntlet, although it’s not hurting much now, it’s still very clear, and touching it still causes pain.
It’s likely to leave a permanent scar.
After lunch, Jesse plans to take the imp out of town in the afternoon to try the Life Drain Spell on some animals.
From last night until now, he has been itching a lot, if he doesn’t get some release today, he’ll go crazy.
He was distracted all morning, even Master Duchamp had to remind him during Orcish Language class for zoning out.
Although he knew he had an Orcish Language exam in less than a month, which could determine if he could go on an official trip to Dalaran. But the temptation of his modified Life Drain Spell was too strong, he had too many questions and speculations about this spell.
What will the so-called ‘vitality’ turn into after it enters the body?
If you are injured, will absorbing life energy heal the wound? Will it have the same effect as a Healing Potion?
Jesse has not had the chance to make Healing Potions yet, so he hasn’t tried them. Maybe experiencing the effects of the Life Drain Spell will give him some inspiration in this area.
If you are completely healthy and have no issues, will life energy make you even healthier and stronger, or will it overflow and cause harm?
Of course, Saenor knows nothing about this because he is a demon and doesn’t know how the terrifying magic of Nathrezim works. Everything awaits his exploration.
So in the afternoon, Jesse packed a parcel with two bottles of Mana Potion, Teron’gor’s staff, some provisions for a meal, Gakin’s magic spell records, and their own summary and modifications of the spells, and set off with the imp.
However, when they arrived at Elwynn Forest, he realized a very serious problem.
The little deer, rabbits, and birds were running too fast.
Harmless animals would see Jesse from far away, or even just smell him, and they would run away. Jesse couldn’t bring himself to harm them, after all, he needed to practice magic to survive.
What about the ones that don’t run?
Wolves, bears, wild boars and such, Jesse hasn’t encountered them yet, and doesn’t want to either. He doesn’t want to be dealing with a meat-eating animal while fumbling with a piece of paper and chanting spells, getting his neck bitten and bleeding even if he had the power of Nathrezim, right?
So how should he solve this problem?
He has thought about hiring a brave person from The Slaughtered Lamb to practice magic, now thinking a couple of silver coins for a safe test opportunity is not bad either.
But the biggest problem is, the tests conducted there are on living people.
If it’s Curse of Weakness, Curse of Recklessness, or even Fear, it’s okay.
However, when it comes to life draining, Curse of Agony, or future spells like Corrosion he might learn, he feels he can’t control the power well and can’t predict the consequences, so he doesn’t want to experiment on real people.
After thinking for a while, he suddenly thought that Dark Iron Dwarves used goats for testing, so why not use a sheep?
There are several farms near Goldshire that raise sheep, he can buy one to test the effect.
Jesse walked along a small path next to the road, heading towards a small farm on the south side of Crystal Lake, and bought a little lamb for 3 silver coins.
He really had to spend a lot for this test, so all the trouble from yesterday’s fight was for nothing.
Hopefully this time the spell modification will be successful.
Jesse walked further southwest, away from the farm, made sure there was no one around, tied the lamb to a tree, and set up the spell and spell casting conditions.
Saenor popped out of the bag, hopping around, getting ready to watch the fun.
Jesse looked at the lamb and then at the tree next to it.
Isn’t this tree also a living being? Does life energy flow through its trunk?
What will happen if I cast Life Drain on it?
Jesse decided to stop thinking about these useless things. If an ordinary tree can be a perfect target for casting spells, Gakin’s people would have probably gone to the forest long ago for a gathering.
Since the sheep has been bought, let it show its true value.
Erengar, Siliondor!
Jesse spoke a spell, pointed at the sheep, felt a strong pull on his heart, attracting the shadow power summoned by the call. However, the spell did not have the expected effect, and the sudden feeling ended.
But the sheep was already scared.
It twitched and struggled, gnawing at the ropes to escape, making a pitiful cry that did not sound like a sheep, more like a crazed woman.
"Shadow power! Shadow power!" Imp exclaimed excitedly as if watching a show.
