Chapter 90: Lin Lin’s Heart Is Calm
Her eyes were covered by someone.
Lin Lin felt her right hand being gently held, and Fallen Angel’s cool fingers guided her to grip the magic wand tightly.
The magic that had built up from her confusion and panic flowed easily as someone cleared it away, and energy slowly streamed from Lin Lin’s fingers into the brown magic wand.
The once heavy and serious power seemed to be guided by Fallen Angel to use light-type spells.
However, soon Fallen Angel realized that Lin Lin had a strange stumbling when using light-type spells, and she could not use them naturally.
So Fallen Angel stopped leading and let Lin Lin use her preferred spells on her own.
This time, it was very successful; Lin Lin’s power burst forth faster than Fallen Angel had imagined, like lightning.
The light shone brightly again.
The thick gray wings opened again, and the hand from Lin Lin’s eyes was removed. Lin Lin saw a young man with black hair and red eyes who had bat wings in front of her.
The young man’s bright red lips hid sharp teeth, and his expression showed clear impatience.
When Lin Lin appeared from the Fallen Angel’s wings, the young man showed a clear look of joy.
His joy did not last three seconds.
Lin Lin waved her magic wand and cast the strongest spell she had ever used.
"Memory!"
A white light hit the young man, and his red cloak trembled.
The young man had tried to dodge, but when he realized that the spell didn’t hurt him, he opened his mouth wide and mocked Lin Lin, "What a useless spell! I’ve never heard of it! You’re not very bright, are you?"
Lin Lin looked at him calmly.
Lin Lin thought, look, the fool is saying others are fools.
For some reason, seeing the foolish look on this guy, Lin Lin suddenly felt no fear.
Indeed, only the same kind of fools can come from the Demon King Castle.
After laughing a few times, the young man suddenly looked less happy and closed his mouth.
The young man hesitantly looked at Lin Lin with his dark red eyes.
Lin Lin was the only human in the Demon King Castle, and as a member of the Blood Clan, the young man smelled the delicious blood of humans when Lin Lin first entered the castle.
The young man remembered the last time he failed to hunt Lin Lin. He was a member of the Blood Clan, and after nearly a hundred years, he still hadn’t succeeded in a single hunt, making his body weaker and weaker, relying on sleeping and waking up to eat pig’s blood to get by.
How embarrassing, really embarrassing, especially since he just bared his fangs at a human. Only immature vampires would do that! A truly mature and elegant vampire should use their charm to enchant someone, making the human willingly let them drink their blood!
He might be the most embarrassing member of the Blood Clan! Since he was a child!
Hmm… Lin Lin looked at the young man who suddenly crouched down, holding his head. Could there be so many embarrassing things on his mind? He looked like he might curl up into a ball.
Not thinking about the vampire anymore, Lin Lin turned to look behind her.
The spot where the Fallen Angel Stone Statue used to be was empty, and behind it was a completely open window. The bright moon had escaped from the cover of clouds, and the shining moonlight filled the room.
Lin Lin suddenly realized that the Fallen Angel might be someone who really didn’t like trouble.
The spell’s effect made the vampire increasingly sad, until he transformed from a human into a tiny black bat.
Lin Lin took hold of the bat’s wings and knocked on the bedroom door of Your Majesty the Demon King.
Because winter consumed more magic, Your Majesty the Demon King was sleeping very soundly. He woke up groggily from his piled-up bed and opened the door for Lin Lin.
In the dim light, Your Majesty the Demon King was wrapped in a pure black cotton robe, his curled black hair flowing down, and he always looked warm and cozy.
Lin Lin showed the bat in her hand to the Demon King.
"Even though it is three in the morning and it might seem a bit inappropriate to come find you," Lin Lin glanced at the clock on the wall, "but this guy wants to kill me."
The bat held in Lin Lin’s hand flapped its wings, as if trying to fly away, but it was feeling too sad, struggling a bit before falling limp.
Your Majesty the Demon King looked down and locked eyes with the bat.
"Hmph," the bat spat in front of Your Majesty the Demon King, "Do you want to punish me? It’s only natural for the Blood Clan to drink blood! If others find out you would punish a valuable subordinate for a mere human, they will surely criticize you!"
Even in its bat form, this guy was still annoying. Lin Lin smiled as she twisted its wing, causing the bat to cry out in pain.
Compared to Lin Lin’s twisted smile, Your Majesty the Demon King’s smile was much purer. He lowered his gaze, his violet eyes looking clearly at the bat, "Who are you?"
Lin Lin: ?
The bat reacted even more strongly, finally managing to struggle free from Lin Lin’s grasp and flew in front of the Demon King, angry, "Are you kidding me!"
The bat transformed back into a black-haired young man wearing a complex white shirt and suit pants, allowing the Demon King to see his human appearance.
The Demon King stared at the young man for a long time, then uncertainly turned to Lin Lin and asked, "Who is he?"
"How would I know?" Lin Lin said, unable to help.
"You are Damonis!" The Demon King finally remembered the name, "One of the top ten leaders of the Blood Clan. It seems you have been asleep for over fifty years."
Lin Lin felt no surprise at all, even if Damonis was the Demon King’s younger brother; she only cared about herself.
Lin Lin emphasized to the Demon King, pointing at the young man from the Blood Clan, "He nearly killed me just now."
Damonis was still lost in the joy of the Demon King remembering who he was when he impatiently glared at Lin Lin and said, "Are you telling tales?"
Lin Lin replied honestly, "Yes."
The young man from the Blood Clan had slightly raised eyebrows, looking like the kind of bully who seems quite dim-witted, like a character from the first chapter of a school bullying story.
Seeing Lin Lin’s serious expression, Damonis smiled and reached out to touch her face, saying, "Such a small blood bag, yet you have a lot going on. The Majesty surely knows who is more important, me or you."
Before the young man’s hand could touch Lin Lin’s cheek, Your Majesty the Demon King’s white palm suddenly turned into a fist in mid-air.
The air made a creaking sound.
Damonis was squeezed into a ball as if by an invisible hand, struggling to return to his bat shape. He could only flap his crow-sized wings in the air, staring with his big red button-like eyes at Your Majesty the Demon King.
The Demon King gently replied, "I do know who is more important."
The long-empty and silent dungeon of Demon King Castle finally welcomed its first customer.
Lin Lin placed flower baskets with "wishing you great success" messages and barley on both sides of the dungeon door for the grand opening ceremony.
Damonis was not the type to be obediently trapped in the dungeon, and thanks to his reckless charges and various escape attempts, the dungeon’s security measures were greatly improved.
Lin Lin kindly went to bring food to Damonis.
It was a bowl of pig’s blood tofu soup.
Yes, a bowl. Lin Lin had to praise that this group at Demon King Castle can really eat.
Lin Lin carried the iron bowl down the stairs, and from far away she could hear the sound of Damonis bumping around in his cell. Lin Lin thought this Blood Clan member was quite lively; young people are full of energy.
Damonis also heard Lin Lin’s footsteps and calmed himself.
No one wants to appear too messy in front of food.
Lin Lin saw Damonis through the iron bars; his special cell prevented him from turning into a bat and slipping through the gaps.
The young man held onto the iron bars with both hands. He had just caused a commotion, and his face was a bit dusty, adding a lively look that was completely different from his pale complexion.
Damonis was also observing Lin Lin.
When he stood in the cell, unable to hunt Lin Lin, Damonis truly saw her appearance, not just the scent of blood that lay beneath her delicate skin.
Dim, shadowy light highlighted the young man’s deep features. He gave Lin Lin a teasing smile, as if he was not the one trapped in the dungeon.
Lin Lin replied calmly, her gaze did not linger on the Blood Clan for too long.
Lin Lin placed the food in a spot he could reach and planned to turn away without any intention of staying.
"Wait," Damonis spoke.
As he moved closer to the railing, Lin Lin heard the sound of chains, and she looked down to see the iron chains locked around his ankle.
"Give me a little blood," Damonis said, "just a small sip will do."
Lin Lin looked at him with a puzzled expression.
"I know you have a complicated relationship with that Fallen Angel," Damonis’s dark red eyes fixed on Lin Lin. "If you give me a little blood, I won’t tell Your Majesty the Demon King."
Lin Lin said, "You should stop thinking about it."
