Chapter 70: Stop Talking Like Safir
Dear Teacher Safir:
Writing to you feels like meeting you.
Lin Lin remembered Safir’s disdain for her and crossed out the word "teacher" in her letter, so that this proud Sapphire Dragon wouldn’t think humans were worthy of calling him teacher.
Since Safir was not always willing to answer calls, and Lin Lin needed to deliver the earrings she bought for him along with the novel for Donna, she used the Demon King Castle’s courier service.
Just one silver coin, and the little demon can efficiently deliver the package.
Lin Lin expressed her admiration for Safir’s intelligence and knowledge, and asked him some questions about time and space magic, as well as if there would be any side effects on her body after coming from another time and space.
After all, Safir is the teacher of the Demon King, so Lin Lin didn’t dare to ask directly, "Are you there? Can you tell me what your student has done to me?"
After writing this, Lin Lin’s letter, which she thought was very polite but was actually quite blunt, was coming to an end.
Lin Lin paused with her pen and added a couple more sentences, "If you think the earrings I bought are too cheap, you can just throw them away. Please don’t get angry and throw away Donna’s gift too. I searched many stores for Donna’s gift and put a lot of thought into it."
Finally finishing the letter, Lin Lin tied the heavy books together and handed them, along with the earrings and the letter, to the little red Devil.
Lin Lin bought a special edition; the illustrations in the book were very rich, and there were many gifts, making it very hard for her to carry everything to the window.
The little Devil had been waiting at the window for a long time; the ugly red demon with pointy ears couldn’t read. After Lin Lin said the address, a black mark appeared on its arm, showing that it had successfully taken an order.
Lin Lin handed a silver coin to the little Devil, and it picked up the package with its sharp red claws like a bat and flew away.
The red demon just flapped its wings a couple of times, but the heavy books made it tumble down from the window. Lin Lin leaned out to look as the little Devil quickly flapped its wings after landing in the middle of the castle. It slowly lifted itself and began flying towards the Dragon race’s territory.
Lin Lin thought maybe she should hire a chubby demon and started wondering if there were any chubby little Devils.
The room became quiet again, and the little mischievous creatures in the hallway quietly avoided Lin Lin’s office floor to not disturb the important accountant.
Lin Lin is checking the accounts.
This month, too much time has been spent on business trips, and it is time for the financial quarterly report, which makes the work even more than usual and more complicated.
Last month, when Lin Lin was preparing the financial report, the Demon King interrupted her, and she threw him out by his hair.
This time, Lin Lin looked more serious, and the entire Demon King Castle became quiet. The bats and birds around the castle took a detour, creating a no-fly zone.
After Lin Lin left her office, trembling creatures, as tall as her knees, quickly cleared the way. In this atmosphere, even the most foolish Flame Slime did not rush over as usual.
Those chattering creatures clearly forgot that Lin Lin could understand their private conversations.
[Master Lin looks worse in the afternoon compared to the morning; is the accounting not going well?]
[It must be the Demon King’s fault; he has been very relaxed and only started working hard a couple of days ago, making it seem easy to make mistakes.]
[After Lin Lin went out, His Majesty the Demon King felt much more relaxed.]
Lin Lin quietly asked, "Really?"
The chatting slimes suddenly froze, and the flames on their bodies became soft and dim, "Chirp! Not gone yet!"
The slimes looked up and saw Lin Lin’s face lit by eerie blue flames, and at that moment, Lin Lin’s smile seemed scary.
I haven’t left, Lin Lin answered in her heart.
Lin Lin originally wanted to find His Majesty the Demon King to check the many mistakes in the document, but now she didn’t want to check; she wanted to punch him twice.
–
Lin Lin angrily pushed open the door to the Demon King’s office.
Usually, at this time, the Demon King would be having afternoon tea, but now he was sitting at the table, writing furiously, looking serious and straight-backed, giving off an air of an excellent leader of Demon King Castle.
The moment Lin Lin pushed open the door, Your Majesty the Demon King looked up with a perfectly puzzled expression, elegantly yet steadily saying, "Lin? Is there a problem?"
Lin Lin noticed the Demon King was trying to speak like Safir usually does.
He was doing it pretty well; even his serious face and slight frown were on point. Lin Lin thought that if Safir saw this scene, he definitely wouldn’t let the Demon King off the hook.
Lin Lin crossed her arms and looked at him with a cold expression, curious to see what he would perform.
Before Lin Lin could say anything, Your Majesty the Demon King gently waved his hand, inviting Lin Lin to sit in his usual armchair, where warm sunlight shone, and a porcelain teapot hovering in mid-air poured a fragrant, warm milk tea for Lin Lin.
Lin Lin leaned slightly in the armchair, holding the milk tea, next to her was a small mountain of desserts.
Lin Lin did not want to know what poisonous flavors were added to those desserts from the demon race; she had no interest in trying them.
Your Majesty the Demon King sat gracefully across from Lin Lin, gently pinching his chin, looking as though he was trying to ease Lin Lin’s worries, "Who made our dear accountant show such a troubled expression? What a foolish person, I won’t let him off easily."
It’s you, obviously you! You know it too. What are you even pretending for?
"Stop talking like Safir," Lin Lin said, "it sounds a bit silly."
The Demon King adjusted his crossed legs and put away his sarcastic expression, with his fluffy black curls trembling slightly, "Is this trick not good enough?"
May I ask what made you think that copying Safir would help you get by? Because he is the only successful person you know?
Lin Lin smirked, "Why don’t you tell me about the information you gave me yesterday?"
The Demon King’s curls shook even more.
The Demon King had to reorganize the information he provided at Lin Lin’s insistence and was told not to sleep tonight, but to stay up and work.
The Demon King timidly reached out to tug at Lin Lin’s sleeve, "But didn’t we say nine to five? I should be done by five…"
Lin Lin smiled at him, "I’m the one who works nine to five, not you. You deserve to stay late."
The little black sheep cupped its face in its hands, looking like it was about to cry.
Lin Lin completely ignored him, as she was thinking about something else.
Lin Lin couldn’t find Dark Elf Felix, and he hadn’t received the antidote for his potion that changed appearance. Lin Lin still looked like a platinum-haired girl with red eyes.
Lin Lin asked Your Majesty the Demon King, "Where did Felix go?"
The reason Lin Lin and Felix were close among the Demon King’s followers was that they were around the same age, and like her, Felix had no place to stay outside. So, Felix always lived in the Demon King Castle, and they spent a lot of time together.
Felix left the Demon King Castle because he was bored with the orca brothers. Lin Lin thought he would return quickly after the orca left, but she hadn’t seen him since.
Unlike Lin Lin’s confusion, the Demon King seemed to have finally found a useful task, so he answered very eagerly, "He was discovered by his kin the last time he went out, so he took a leave to deal with this issue."
It’s not about solving a problem, but about dealing with his kin, isn’t it?
Lin Lin knew that Dark Elves worship the Spider Goddess and treat traitors quite cruelly. If Felix was found by them, he would definitely be in deep trouble.
It seemed that everyone in the Demon King Castle preferred to handle their own issues, even when facing a family matter; Felix didn’t ask the dragon or the Demon King for help to solve this problem.
Plus, there are those terrible orca brothers.
It is hard to imagine how the Demon King gathered these people together.
Lin Lin looked at Your Majesty the Demon King with a complicated expression.
The Demon King felt nervous under her gaze, "Do I have new troubles now?"
He was already thinking about any other mistakes he might have made.
Lin Lin shook her head and lightly touched the mark on the Demon King’s neck, "The little figure you created before has disappeared. Did you see the outside world?"
Lin Lin was unsure if the Demon King could still read the information after the memory card was damaged.
Your Majesty the Demon King’s gaze paused for a moment, and he felt strangely anxious, making Lin Lin’s breathing tighten as well.
Your Majesty the Demon King’s violet eyes looked earnestly at Lin Lin, "Can I read it?"
