Chapter 66: You Are Really Arthur, Right?
Allen was fully prepared, knowing that if Lin Lin hit him, he could easily dodge.
After all, usually when he ruffles her hair, Lin Lin wishes she could punch him in the stomach, but this time when he kissed the corner of Lin Lin’s eye, she probably would hit him hard on the head.
He is now closer to Lin Lin than Arthur is!
Allen cannot clearly explain this feeling of competition, but he is the winner.
What surprised Allen was that compared to her anger, Lin Lin showed more hesitation.
Allen was ready to dodge the punch, but it never came.
The warm light of the campfire shone on everyone’s faces, casting shadows of light and dark, while the musician played a softer melody.
Luckily, the two stood at the edge, so even if they just stood there in a daze, they wouldn’t attract attention or disturb anyone else.
Lin Lin touched her hot eye corner; she knew very well that a simple touch on the lips wouldn’t make her eyes wet, and her current discomfort was all in her mind.
A kiss has a vague meaning in the human world. Compared to the expressive Western culture, Eastern people see it as a more intimate act.
Even though Lin Lin always unconsciously saw the orcas as another kind of creature. Of course, they used to be other creatures too; Lin Lin just had not thought much about it before.
After all, when humans pet a Samoyed, they do not usually consider if it is male or female, or if it is young or old.
And Allen is an orca who could have feelings like humans. Lin Lin thought slowly.
Allen is first an orca, and then he is an orca.
Lin Lin has clearly tried hard to understand this world, but she still feels trapped by the old way of thinking.
In this world, orcas have emotions similar to humans.
Lin Lin’s gaze fell on Allen’s long, trembling eyelashes; he seemed a bit anxious, but his face showed determination, appearing a little tough.
Not only was he looking at her, Lin Lin was sure that Allen’s gaze also secretly moved past her, looking a bit farther away. He was still watching another person’s expression.
The young man looked distracted.
Lin Lin’s thoughts were very clear and direct.
"Do you like me?" Lin Lin asked.
Allen’s gaze returned; he lowered his eyes, and in the darkness of the night, his pupils glimmered with colors like flames, "What?"
Only then did Allen’s full attention come back.
The melodious music rose in pitch, and the surrounding noise did not affect the two people standing in the corner.
Lin Lin, in a good mood, asked again, "Allen, do you like me?"
Lin Lin looked up and met Allen’s gaze; she noticed he was clearly stunned.
Allen replied, "Huh?"
Lin Lin was also surprised.
A few seconds later, she said nothing and turned to leave.
Allen is a purebred foolish orca! It’s funny that she just a moment ago thought she might have been a little harsh on him.
This guy just found a new way to act crazy! It’s the self-reflective her who is the fool!
Lin Lin walked faster and faster.
Allen immediately chased after her; he felt that Lin Lin’s blank expression was even scarier than when she usually hit him.
To get to the outer layer, they needed to step up a slightly high stair. Allen wanted to help Lin Lin up, but she slapped his hand away and shot him a fierce glare before walking up by herself.
The scene of the girl and boy pulling and tugging at each other caught some people’s attention. After seeing the girl fiercely scold the young man for a few moments, the crowd let out a wave of boos.
Allen was annoyed by the onlookers and showed them his jagged orca teeth as a threat before he went after Lin Lin again.
Lin Lin didn’t pay much attention to the road ahead; anyway, pedestrians would actively move aside when they saw her reckless look.
Lin Lin walked past two street corners when suddenly someone pulled her into the alley.
Before Lin Lin could gasp in surprise, a hand was already covering her mouth.
The cold, damp air filled Lin Lin’s nose, and she realized it was Arthur who had grabbed her.
Even though orcas can recognize each other by their breath, it was clear that families had special ways to respond as well. After Arthur led Lin Lin to the corner, Allen, who had been following her closely, didn’t notice their presence at all and continued walking forward, a bit confused.
Lin Lin breathed a sigh of relief and tapped Arthur on the shoulder, signaling him to remove his hand from her mouth.
Arthur’s eyes glimmered, and he withdrew his hand, looking a bit absent-minded.
Lin Lin thought to herself, they really are true brothers; their twin connection even reflects in their emotions.
Arthur leaned down to Lin Lin.
Lin Lin knew he wanted to talk, so she pressed her forehead against his.
Compared to Lin Lin, Arthur’s body temperature felt cool at that moment.
Lin Lin heard the message that Arthur sent to her mind, "What did you say?"
This was obviously about the time when Lin Lin and Allen were dancing.
Lin Lin remembered that from Arthur’s point of view, he could only see Allen’s face, and he couldn’t see her lips moving, so he naturally didn’t know what she said.
Lin Lin stepped back, moving away from Arthur. Arthur and Allen had the same face, and after getting angry with Allen, she felt a bit awkward in front of Arthur too.
Just thinking about the moment when she asked Allen twice if he liked her made her want to disappear into the ground.
Lin Lin also remembered the clear and confused look in Allen’s eyes after she asked him.
Lin Lin’s cheeks turned slightly red, from the beer and from her attempt to hide her embarrassment.
"It’s nothing!" Since she was no longer pressing her forehead against Arthur’s, Lin Lin answered this question with words.
Her first answer was too quick, so Arthur did not understand her lip movements.
The young man lowered his head, and his pale face was calm.
Arthur reached out his index finger and gently traced it across the corner of Lin Lin’s lips, signaling her to say it again.
But when he reached out to touch Lin Lin, she gently turned her face a little to avoid him.
Lin Lin did not answer his question the way Arthur wanted.
Instead, she threw a question back at him.
"You are really Arthur, right?" Lin Lin asked.
The strong deep blue in the orca’s eyes began to gather.
Lin Lin realized that Arthur was angry, even though the source of his anger should not be her.
Because he always appeared calm and couldn’t speak, Arthur seemed very reserved.
Lin Lin blinked.
Looking at the young man in front of her, he gave her a gentle hug, trying to comfort her with this gesture.
-
Arthur took Lin Lin back to the Blue Ocean Hotel, and he seemed to intend to keep Allen and Lin Lin apart.
Even though Lin Lin told Arthur it was nothing, just a new prank from Allen that surprised her, catching her off guard.
After Lin Lin said this, Arthur’s expression worsened, so Lin Lin chose not to continue speaking.
Lin Lin clearly remembered that Arthur was in second place at Demon King Castle, and she didn’t want to invite too much trouble for herself.
The exhaustion from the festival quickly put Lin Lin into a dream.
She didn’t know how long she had slept, but it couldn’t have been too long, when she woke up from her dream.
Drinking too sweet beer before bed made Lin Lin’s throat feel dry, so she decided to go downstairs to get some water.
Wearing her nightgown, Lin Lin walked downstairs and was surprised to see a little light from a fairy in the hall.
Because of the festival, the tavern was very busy, and the dwarf owner didn’t have time to clean up, leaving half-drunk beers and knocked-over stools where they were, planning to tidy up in the morning.
Clearly, the handsome fairy wasn’t planning to do much for his friend either; he only kept his small table neat.
The fairy was surprised to see Lin Lin. He looked at her standing on the stairs and raised his bright green eyes, asking, "Aren’t you going to sleep?"
This was exactly the question Lin Lin wanted to ask him.
Lin Lin replied, "I’m thirsty."
The Moon Elf Royvald naturally poured a fresh glass of beer for Lin Lin.
Lin Lin firmly refused, "Thank you for your kindness, but I would like some water."
The Moon Elf raised his eyebrows slightly; his beauty became even more ethereal under the night, giving the simple, low hotel room a mysterious charm, as if the moon goddess had draped a veil of soft light over him.
Royvald said, "Beer is just water made from wheat."
Lin Lin decided to ignore the elf’s nonsense completely, to avoid being misled by him.
"Aren’t you going to sleep?" Lin Lin asked him.
"We don’t need deep sleep," Royvald replied, "We just need to meditate in a safe place."
The two exchanged simple words, and Lin Lin finally got her water while the Moon Elf lowered his head to play with the lute in his arms.
He gently plucked a few notes, at a very soft volume, like spring water flowing over stones.
As Lin Lin drank the water, she suddenly heard the elf’s gentle words, his voice almost blending with the sound of the lute.
"Are you the master of my dark blood relatives?" asked the Moon Elf.
Lin Lin coughed sharply twice.
