Chapter 48: I Touch
Don’t panic, stay calm in any situation.
Because this is a world filled with magic, it is very normal for humans to appear at the bottom of the sea.
It is not unusual to see a humpback whale flying in the sky; one must be a mature person!
The mature Lin Lin crouched on the ground, hugging her head. She turned and saw another great mature wizard in the same position, also hugging his head.
The two exchanged a glance, feeling awkward but too scared to stand up.
Instead, Arthur, who was the last to come out, looked confused. He glanced out the window and saw the tail of a humpback whale, and then looked at the two people shivering.
Isn’t this view quite nice? The water looks so comfortable. The killer whale was puzzled.
Lin Lin and Sharon felt their way back to the secret room and began to search hard for every clue, hoping to hear the "click" sound again to send them back.
There was no way out.
Even Lin Lin, who was careful, started to pick up the stone statue from the small table and shake it around, but the sound still didn’t happen.
Finally, the two of them tiredly plopped down on the ground.
"Do we need to find another magic circle?" Lin Lin asked Sharon, who was also out of breath.
She remembered what Sharon had said, that the magic circle they found was likely the "on switch," and the "off switch" was in another magic circle.
"Generally, that’s how it is," Sharon replied, "because the outside influence is too strong; one magic circle cannot support it."
"I really don’t understand," Lin Lin said, confused about the magic circle’s activation. "Can we really start it just by lighting a candle? Isn’t a high-level magic circle supposed to need more spells and some objects to hold it in place?"
"Usually, that’s how it works, but look," Sharon pointed to the little table with the statue, the doll and gemstone at its feet, and the drawn magic circle. "There is actually everything. I think it’s because the City Lord himself has no magic, so starting the magic circle is very hard for him. To make it easy, he prepared everything and left only the candle to control it."
Oh, it’s that kind of behavior. It’s because the password is too hard to remember, so the login password is saved on the website; you can just click the [Login] button to log into the account automatically.
Make sure to remember the login password well!
If someone accidentally clicks wrong and enters your account, it would be very embarrassing if they see something they shouldn’t!
Lin Lin’s opinion of the City Lord is dropping quickly now.
They sat quietly on the ground for a while, staring at each other with big eyes.
Lin Lin spoke first, "Shall we go outside?"
Sharon said, "How about we sit a little longer?"
Lin Lin, "Okay, I was just asking."
They continued to stay quiet; no one had the courage to leave.
Sitting quietly, they stayed very still.
Until the door was opened from the outside, Arthur stepped in with one leg and then the other.
Lin Lin looked up and saw clearly what Arthur was holding in his hands.
Lin Lin and Arthur looked at each other.
Arthur placed the thing he was holding on the ground.
The thing started to run away.
"It’s a king crab!" Sharon answered quickly.
Before the king crab could run up to Lin Lin, she jumped up, who wants to be chased by a king crab!
Why! Why is there such an active king crab chasing people in the library!
Lin Lin ran towards Arthur.
Arthur stretched out his hands to her.
Lin Lin ran around Arthur and exited through the small door.
The wizard Sharon had already subdued the king crab and was holding it carefully.
Sharon asked, "Do you want to roast it and eat it?"
Lin Lin thought, there should be no meal missed.
Although she was sitting in a building surrounded by seawater, she should have been deeply thinking about survival methods, or even pondering deeper topics about humanity and nature.
As a result, I am now eating plain king crab.
Even though the place has changed, the time for dinner must not change at all. A true foodie.
"It seems a little overcooked, even a bit dry," Sharon commented on the taste.
"If God of Light knew you used light magic to do this, he would be sad," Lin Lin teased.
"No way, he would just think I’m a clever girl," Sharon said. "Does God of Light want to see me go hungry? He is a god who brings happiness to people."
Lin Lin began to sincerely believe that Sharon was not suited for a job related to the temple, feeling that she was too good at manipulating God of Light.
Or rather, her way of using God of Light to fulfill her own desires was quite similar to her brother’s.
Siblings indeed.
It seems that the subordinates in the Temple of God of Light are not very capable either.
However, seafood is truly only tasty when it is fresh. A sweet flavor fills the mouth.
Lin Lin had never eaten such fresh seafood; it took less than ten minutes from the time it was caught to when it entered her mouth.
Once she had eaten her fill, Lin Lin turned her head to look at Arthur and remembered to ask this question, "Did you just go out?"
Arthur nodded.
The young man reached out to Lin Lin, inviting her to stand up from her seat.
Lin Lin, feeling confused, was pulled by him to the window.
When they got close to the window, Lin Lin felt a strong sense of resistance until Arthur pointed down, urging her to look below.
Lin Lin squinted as she looked down, "Wow!"
With that one word, curiosity took over, and Sharon, holding a crab leg, eagerly moved to the window without needing anyone to pull her.
Sharon, "Darn!"
Outside the window, below, you can clearly see the street made of pebbles, the colorful balloons on the streetlights, the bright little flowers on both sides of the road, and further in the distance, you can see the fountain in the city center.
It’s Padre Port.
Maybe it’s related to the angle; looking closely like this makes everything a lot brighter. If you ignore the crabs crawling on the road, the scallops flying in the air, and the flat devil fish, and the absence of humans, this is exactly what they normally see at Padre Port every day.
A passing orca gently swam by on the path, and with a flick of its tail, it stunned a devil fish that was swimming normally. It didn’t eat; it must not have been hungry, as it just left calmly after giving everyone a scare.
Lin Lin and Sharon both looked at Arthur.
It’s an orca! It’s the ocean street orca!
Arthur, unaware that this behavior was odd, openly accepted the gaze of the two.
"Why is Padre Port in the sea?" Lin Lin asked, starting a question.
"The first possibility is that we have built a city under the sea, just like Padre Port."
"The second possibility is that we are still on land, and the land version of Padre Port is filled with water."
"The third possibility is that we have entered an unknown realm, which may be real or may be fake, but it reflects the situation of real life."
Sharon touched her chin and thought carefully.
"The first possibility is not true because the orcas have checked and found there are no sea creatures in the Padre Port area, and if they had seen a city, they would definitely have told us."
Arthur nodded.
"The second possibility is small because the more magic changes reality, the more sacrifices and complex symbols it needs, and so far, there are no humans in the city we see."
"The third possibility is likely, so we need to find a way to explore the edges of this realm or find any strange places, as well as the magic symbols for the exit."
Lin Lin and Sharon high-fived, "We think the same way!"
Sharon looked out the window and said, "So… are we going out?"
Lin Lin: …
In the end, they chose to accept their fate and pushed open the door to the top floor. Fortunately, there was no water in the library.
Besides the empty reading room and the front desk, everything else seemed normal.
Arthur opened the big door of the library.
When the door opened, a thin layer formed automatically, and the ocean water did not rush into the building.
A semi-transparent jellyfish lazily swam by in the water in front of Lin Lin’s nose.
Don’t be afraid! This isn’t real; it’s just some unknown place.
Lin Lin and Sharon exchanged a glance and held hands as they took their first step outside.
Immersed in the ocean, she felt completely comfortable and could even breathe freely underwater.
Only tiny bubbles would follow her lips whenever she spoke.
Lin Lin looked up at the spot directly above her. What should have been the sky was now shimmering with a dim light.
It felt like standing in a fish tank and looking at the sky.
The three of them had agreed to first head in the direction of the Blue Ocean Hotel, believing that if Allen and the others had also entered this area, they would meet back at the hotel.
You could walk or swim in the sea, but both Lin Lin and Sharon had very limited swimming skills.
Being the smallest one, Lin Lin was surrounded by the boy on the left and the girl on the right. As she pulled Arthur’s arm, she suddenly remembered that there was a killer whale nearby.
Lin Lin turned her head and looked at Arthur with bright eyes.
I want to ride the killer whale!
Lin Lin tugged on Arthur’s arm to get his attention, "Can you turn back into your original form?"
After Lin Lin said this, Sharon’s eyes also lit up.
Arthur looked down, tilting his head slightly towards Lin Lin.
Lin Lin immediately stood on her tiptoes to touch her forehead to his.
By touching foreheads, Lin Lin could hear Arthur’s words.
[I cannot fully transform here; my abilities are very limited.]
Lin Lin felt a bit disappointed but also understood, since they were in a completely unknown place.
Sharon’s spell was also much weaker just now.
But what does "unable to fully transform" mean?
"If I can’t fully transform, will I turn into half? A fish head and a human body? A mermaid?" Lin Lin asked curiously.
Arthur shook his head.
He stood for a while, still looking human, but with a black whale tail sticking out from his lower back.
"Wow… is it alive?" Lin Lin instinctively reached out to touch it.
The whale tail swiftly dodged away.
