Chapter 31: "Who Are You?"
Why!
Lin Lin lay flat on the bed, with black curtains tightly drawn to keep out any light from outside, resting on the soft and extremely comfortable bed specially made by the Demon King.
The light was dim, the bed was cozy, and the room was quiet. It was the perfect environment for sleeping.
Why! Lin Lin’s heart sighed again.
I can’t sleep at all!
On the nightstand, the clock’s second hand moved steadily, and the time stayed at 10:15 AM.
Even though she had carefully created the perfect sleeping environment and was determined to rest well during her three-day holiday, her eyes had opened automatically at 9:30, and Lin Lin stared at the ceiling with wide eyes, unable to feel sleepy.
How frustrating! Is the stress of working so overwhelming that even taking a break feels impossible? Compared to the burden of work, the Demon King’s mark seems so much lighter!
Lin Lin stayed in bed until eleven o’clock, then got up and opened the curtains.
The rain outside had not stopped, and through the glass, she could see the marks of raindrops on the windowsill.
Lin Lin quietly opened the window a little, letting the sound of the rain and the cold wind come into the bedroom.
Lin Lin pulled down the black curtain on the bed, covered herself with the blanket again, and tried to sleep.
She closed her eyes and stayed still for twenty minutes.
She opened her eyes.
Well, not being able to sleep is not because of a lack of white noise.
Lin Lin sighed and finally got out of bed.
If nothing else works, she could wander around the castle to see if she could find something fun to do; a vacation without the internet and a phone is indeed very boring.
Lin Lin took a long-sleeved light blue dress out of the wardrobe. The fitted style with a pretty light white collar looked beautiful, and it would make her elegant with her smooth black long hair.
Lin Lin put on the dress, then reached to pull the zipper at her side.
The first time, she did not succeed.
The second time, she pulled with a lot of force, but still did not succeed.
The dress that used to fit easily was now especially tight around the waist.
Lin Lin reached to touch the place where the zipper did not close, feeling a little bit of soft flesh.
Lin Lin: …
Lin Lin took off the dress and threw it to the bottom of the wardrobe, changing into loose sportswear.
Lin Lin walked out of the room with a cold expression.
She originally planned to go out around eleven o’clock, just in time for lunch, but now she has completely lost her appetite.
When did she become overweight? Before her trip to the hot spring, her clothes still fit, but now she can’t wear them anymore.
Did she really eat a lot during the trip? Lin Lin remembered the meals from Safir’s territory and the knight’s group… How frustrating, they were definitely much better than the food at Demon King Castle.
It was exactly lunchtime, and even though Lin Lin herself didn’t plan to eat lunch, the others obviously still needed to eat.
Lin Lin ran into the Dark Elf in the hallway.
Felix was a bit surprised by Lin Lin’s outfit; he had only seen her wear this sportswear once before. She had felt that sitting in the office all the time was not good for her health and had bought it to encourage herself to exercise a little.
After buying the sportswear, Lin Lin ran a lap around the outside of Demon King Castle, came back out of breath, and since then, he hadn’t seen her wear that outfit again.
Felix looked outside at the heavy rain; it was obviously not a suitable day for running. He wondered what Lin Lin was planning to do.
In contrast to Felix’s light footsteps, another person was slowly walking toward them.
The Demon King, with long hair flowing, yawned as he walked along the path to the dining room.
"I’m so sleepy… What are you talking about?"
Lin Lin turned around to look at the guy who clearly had just woken up.
Why does this guy sleep so well? You’re the Demon King! How can you sleep so soundly at such a young age?
Lin Lin, "I remember you promised me to write down all the financial records from this time."
Your Majesty the Demon King’s curly hair shook slightly, "Of course, I’m working on it."
Then, the Demon King with violet eyes stroked his chin and looked at Lin Lin.
When Lin Lin came back yesterday, she was wearing a raincoat, and since he had tugged on his hair from behind, it hurt a lot, so he didn’t carefully look at Lin Lin.
"Lin Lin," the Demon King hesitated to speak, "have you gained weight?"
Lin Lin’s mind sounded an alarm, and the long wail of a siren buzzed in her head.
Lin Lin said with a blank expression, "No."
The Demon King smiled, "I can’t be mistaken; your chubby looks are very cute."
Although he didn’t understand humans, the Dark Elf slowly took a step back, knowing about women.
Lin Lin kicked the Demon King hard on the calf, "I’m not chubby! You are the one who is cute and chubby!"
Lin Lin angrily turned around and walked away.
This left the Demon King looking puzzled, and he turned to Felix with some confusion, "Why did she lie?"
Once Lin Lin’s figure completely disappeared, Felix dared to look at the Demon King, "You need to correct a fundamental issue."
The Dark Elf, drawing from his experience as a low-class male elf who never needed to socialize, told the Demon King, who lacked this knowledge, "We are not worthy of discussing this topic."
Demon King: ?
–
Lin Lin took a black umbrella from the castle’s door and walked outside.
Flame Slime was happily bouncing behind her, but was stopped by the rain outside the castle. It looked at Lin Lin with confusion, not understanding why she wanted to go out in the rain.
"I want to exercise," Lin Lin replied.
Although she understood that gaining and losing weight was completely normal as long as she was healthy, the moment the zipper of her dress wouldn’t close did hit Lin Lin hard.
Furthermore, in the entire Demon King Castle, besides the naturally round slime or the furry Orcs, all the other creatures looked very strong and fit!
Even the mid-level and lower-level creatures showed off their eight-pack abs! It was as if having a great body was an easy thing to achieve!
Last time at the Demon King’s meeting, the only female officer had beautifully toned arms.
Lin Lin! You can’t fall any more! You need to exercise, you need to be healthy! You need to have a stable and good body!
Reminding herself of this, Lin Lin held up her umbrella and stepped into the rainy street.
Ah, the rain feels a bit cold.
The raindrops hit the umbrella, making a popping sound.
The moment she stepped outside, she started to regret it.
Lin Lin stood at the entrance of the Demon King Castle for a minute; her plan to jog turned into just walking in the rain.
But there’s nothing that can be done! It’s the weather’s fault! Let today be a warm-up, tomorrow will be the real start of exercising!
Lin Lin took her second step into the rain.
At that moment, standing in the corridor of the Demon King Castle, the Demon King looked through the glass at Lin Lin below holding an umbrella in the rain and wondered, "Is it useful to apologize now?"
Felix shook his head, "Do not appear in front of her; it will make her upset."
Although Lin Lin did not often go out, she frequently strolled around the edge of Demon King Castle, drawing a circle with the castle at the center and a not-too-far distance as the radius. The area inside the circle was her comfort zone.
She walked out of the gates of Demon King Castle, greeted the Worgen guard, and headed toward a small patch of forest in front of the castle.
The forest was thick, and there was no danger here; only the Demon King’s subordinates could come to this place.
Compared to the roads inside Demon King Castle, the forest floor was clearly muddier.
Lin Lin wandered aimlessly in the rain for a while; although it did not provide any exercise, her mood lightened a bit.
Lin Lin stopped walking, and the sound of raindrops on her umbrella continued.
As long as she did not get wet, the rain became an interesting thing.
Lin Lin stretched her left hand out to the outside of the umbrella, and the cool raindrops fell onto her palm.
The thick mist almost turned into a white fog that could be seen with the naked eye.
The cool air brushed against her face, and Lin Lin began to hesitate about whether to return to Demon King Castle.
Suddenly, Lin Lin turned her head and looked to the right.
She held an umbrella in her right hand, and the silver ribs of the umbrella cut coldly through her view.
She saw a young man with short black hair, slim build, pale skin, single eyelids, and long eyes that gave him a very strong-boned face.
The young man wasn’t holding an umbrella; the rain seemed to avoid him, skipping over his black shirt and his cold expression.
It was a killer whale.
Lin Lin realized a bit late that because of the heavy rain these days, the killer whales had been able to leave their territory and come to Demon King Castle for duty.
Just as Felix had said before, the killer whales only arrived at Demon King Castle at specific times.
Seeing one of the orcas, Lin Lin looked around but did not see the second orca, which meant that the two siblings were not always together as she had imagined.
So, is the orca in front of her the older brother or the younger brother?
Lin Lin raised her black umbrella a little higher and looked at the young man, "Who are you?"
The young man stared at her, and in his dark eyes, she could faintly see a hint of blue. When Lin Lin spoke, he lifted his thin eyelids, his previously lazy expression becoming a bit more focused.
Lin Lin almost guessed who he was.
However, the way he was looking at her lips was too obvious, so she decided to repeat herself.
The sound of the rain almost drowned out her words, but he could not hear her voice anyway.
Lin Lin opened her lips slowly and said again in clear common language, "Who are you?"
The corner of the young man’s left lip lifted slightly, but due to the strong structure of his face and the lack of fat, a faint line appeared beside his lips from his movement.
The young man’s index finger first touched his lips, then gently tapped the side of his ear.
It was his brother, who could not speak and could not hear.
