Chapter 233: You Have Finally Returned
The barbecue place Felix recommended really has great food.
But the restaurant still has the usual noisy chaos that Dark Elves are used to, and the lighting is dim and old.
Lin Lin and Felix sat at a small wooden table in the corner, with a charcoal pot and barbecue grill in the middle, and two glasses of wheat beer beside them.
The pale yellow beer kept bubbling over.
Lin Lin suddenly remembered that the Moon Elf was also a drunkard. The elves really liked this pure plant food. In a way, they did share a common ancestor.
However, if such words were spoken in front of Felix, it would definitely be seen as an insult.
"Aren’t you going to eat?" Although she knew that elves were not very interested in meat, Lin Lin always felt that Dark Elves could eat a bit of meat. After all, their fierce appearance did not look like they only ate vegetables, which created a strange sense of mismatch.
This shop has been around for some years. Even though the cat-girl waitress wiped the tables over and over with a cloth, there was still a greasy shine left on the surface.
When Lin Lin touched the tabletop, it didn’t feel greasy; the grease must have soaked into the wood.
"No need," Felix replied. Even though it was nighttime in the room, his habit made sure his hood was still tightly over his head. The Dark Elf’s dark hand was wrapped tightly in bandages, hiding his skin.
The Dark Elf tilted his head back and took a sip of the beer in his cup, finishing the last quarter in one go. Then he put his finger to his lips and whistled. When the waiter turned around, he shook his empty cup.
The young half-rabbit man in a green vest came to refill his cup.
Lin Lin now believed that Felix had once hidden among human mercenaries, and he was never discovered until he left. He was really good at blending in in places like this.
And when a Miss Orc, who tried to sell more expensive drinks, came to Felix, the Dark Elf impatiently tapped the table, signaling her to go elsewhere.
His behavior could hardly be called polite… When Felix saw the woman in front of him as "prey" rather than someone to admire, he didn’t seem to fear women at all.
Noticing Lin Lin’s gaze on him, the Dark Elf underneath the hood raised an eyebrow and asked, "What’s wrong? Not to your taste?"
"No, it’s very delicious," Lin Lin looked up, "I just have mixed feelings. If I weren’t a woman from the Demon King Castle, you would probably treat me differently."
"How could that be?" Felix glanced at Lin Lin with his silver eyes, not understanding her strange thought, "You don’t even have the courage to sell drinks. When you are standing here holding alcohol, you have to prepare yourself hundreds of times, telling yourself not to feel too embarrassed if you fail."
Oh, he was speaking the truth. Lin Lin had to admit.
Yes, she was the kind of person who gets easily embarrassed and sometimes suddenly remembers awkward moments from long ago before bed, making her so uncomfortable that she can’t sleep well.
Lin Lin quietly ate her food.
The aroma of the food spread in her mouth; the meat served in the restaurant was very delicious, with perfectly balanced fatty and lean slices curling beautifully over the flames.
Knowing that what he said made Lin Lin angry, Felix stayed quiet and watched Lin Lin eat seriously.
When the lady came back to recommend the new type of wine, Lin Lin couldn’t help but order two bottles.
The taste was slightly sweet, but the refreshing feel could cut through the greasiness of the roast meat, and Lin Lin found herself wanting a little more.
The pink wine in the glass was likely stronger than beer, and after just one and a half glasses, Lin Lin felt her head starting to ache.
But she still drank too much; she wasn’t a person with strong self-control.
Lin Lin felt very full and even a little tired; she started to want a rest.
"You feel a little better now," Felix said.
"What?" Lin Lin’s mind was foggy from the alcohol, and it took her a few seconds to understand what Felix was saying, "I was already feeling good."
The Dark Elf narrowed his eyes and didn’t answer.
Lin Lin sighed. She felt touched by how much these guys from the Demon King Castle cared for her, yet she also had a strange feeling of wanting them to pretend they didn’t know.
"Did the Demon King make you angry?" Felix asked.
"Maybe," Lin Lin said dryly.
"I knew it," Felix pinpointed the culprit, his tone filled with annoyance. "Not only are you angry with the Demon King, but you are also helping him hide while being cold to the Dark Elf who cares about you."
"I didn’t help him hide!" Maybe because of the alcohol, Lin Lin felt a bit tipsy and couldn’t keep her voice down.
"Oh really," Felix inquired. "Then why can’t you just go and hit him? You are a light-type mage, and when your magic wand comes down, that demon will just stand there with a silly smile."
"Oh, I didn’t mean to hit him," Lin Lin whispered.
"You are being biased towards him!" Felix pointed out.
"Okay, okay," Lin Lin said to steer Felix away from more chaotic thoughts. "I was just thinking of a possibility… I’m just saying maybe."
Lin Lin felt a bit nervous, even though she often chatted with Felix. Safir had warned them several times not to let Lin Lin pick up the ideas of the Dark Elf.
But it must be said, many things were easier to say when facing the morally weak Felix.
"Maybe the Demon King treats me as a girl," Lin Lin whispered, "Do you understand? A girl? The kind a person can have feelings for."
After Lin Lin nervously said this, Felix showed a blank stare like a dead fish.
With his silver eyes, he looked even more like a cold, indifferent fish.
"Oh, what shocking news," Felix said in a calm tone.
Then he felt strangely upset, and the Dark Elf leaned closer to Lin Lin, "Is this why you are so uneasy? How can he influence your feelings? If you want, I can show you what real adults do. We could tonight…"
Lin Lin quickly covered the Dark Elf’s mouth, "Please don’t compare this."
–
There should be no hopes for the Dark Elf; that guy is only filled with crazy jealousy.
The most absurd thing is that Felix’s reason for jealousy is that he thinks Lin Lin is not being "fair."
However, he doesn’t dare to directly blame Lin Lin and starts to vaguely imply that although the Demon King seems silly, he is actually quite clever.
The Demon King is quite clever… Lin Lin felt she heard something very unusual.
The Dark Elf’s room is one level below Lin Lin’s, and she firmly refused Felix’s offer to walk her to her bedroom door, wanting him to stay away.
As Lin Lin really started to walk up the stairs step by step, she began to regret it; she did feel a bit dizzy.
Finally reaching the top step of the stairs, Lin Lin wobbled as she walked to her room.
Her fingers closed around the doorknob, and the magical energy that matched her touch made the lock at the door automatically open.
Suddenly, another hand appeared, pressing on the back of Lin Lin’s hand, applying slight pressure, and the door was pushed open.
Lin Lin opened her eyes wide and saw Safir behind her.
The Sapphire Dragon lowered its gaze, glancing at her slightly red face and the smell of alcohol on her lips.
He pushed Lin Lin into the room.
"Teacher Safir," the alcohol clouded Lin Lin’s mind and confused her about what to call Safir; she could only instinctively sense that Safir was not in a good mood.
"You finally returned," Safir said.
This statement felt strange; Lin Lin uncomfortably looked away, gazing at the lanterns above her.
When Safir said the word "finally," it felt as if he had been waiting here all along for Lin Lin to come back.
But Lin Lin didn’t dare to ask because Safir would definitely get angry and mock her with harsh words.
"Yes, I had a little meal outside with Felix," Lin Lin mentioned Felix to show that although she was back so late, she still had a sense of safety, and she brought a bodyguard with her.
Lin Lin noticed that after she said Felix’s name, Safir’s frown became even tighter.
"I had no idea that the recipes for humans and Dark Elves were the same," indeed, the Sapphire Dragon began to mock with his deep, magnetic voice.
When Safir gets angry, his tone becomes very elegant, making him seem even more sarcastic.
"Well, it was okay," Lin Lin had to admit, "We also had a little bit of wine."
Indeed, Safir’s expression became even more displeased.
"Such a frivolous race as the Dark Elves will only corrupt your body and mind," said Safir.
In the past, Lin Lin would have helped Felix argue back, but tonight, due to Felix’s focus on important matters, she had to acknowledge that some of Safir’s stereotypes were necessary, so Lin Lin remained silent.
The Sapphire Dragon, who did not receive a response, lowered his eyes, surprised by the silence.
His gaze made Lin Lin completely understand it in a different way; she thought she needed to flatter Safir, "Um, yes, you are right."
Lin Lin admitted the frivolousness of the Dark Elf, and Safir paused for a moment.
"What did he do to you?" Safir asked, his hand touching Lin Lin’s face. Unlike the smoothness of the Demon King’s touch, Safir’s hand was large and had a strange feeling that was both delicate and rough, like scales.
The Sapphire Dragon rarely touched Lin Lin on purpose.
Lin Lin took a step back.
This caused Safir’s hand, which had been touching her cheek, to move to the back of Lin Lin’s head, holding it in place to stop her from continuing to flee like a rabbit.
He was too tall; Safir’s form was even taller than the Demon King’s, and he always arrogantly stood up straight, unlike the Demon King, who would bend down. This made Lin Lin feel very pressured when they were close to each other.
"What did he do to you?" Safir frowned, his gaze shifting to Lin Lin’s mouth, which smelled of alcohol, and the collar that exposed her neck. "Did he kiss you? Did he pretend to play a game with you and pull your collar open?"
Lin Lin’s face instantly turned red.
She was already flushed from drinking, but now her face was even redder, as if she had a high fever.
All along, she really hated how Safir talked down to her and judged her life like a guardian.
Now, Sapphire Dragon looked down and asked her, making her feel like a little child.
But, for goodness’ sake! What child would be forced to talk about kissing and collars!
"Safir, I am an adult! I know how to take care of myself! I won’t be tricked into doing strange games! I can also tell when someone is taking advantage of me!"
Lin Lin swallowed the word "teacher" that was on the tip of her tongue; it felt so strange, she didn’t want to call Safir "teacher" in this odd atmosphere.
Sapphire Dragon didn’t answer her question; he lowered his head and slowly leaned closer to her face.
Lin Lin awkwardly looked around; she stood stiffly, straighter than when she had tried to pose prettily against the wall.
Dragons have a keen sense of smell, and Lin Lin didn’t want him to catch the scent of cheap alcohol on her.
Although Lin Lin secretly resented Safir’s strict and old-fashioned guardian style, she wanted to appear respectable in front of him, at least not looking as messy as she did now.
She saw the Sapphire Dragon’s dark blue earrings shimmering in front of her, and her gaze was drawn to the beautiful gemstones.
Lin Lin’s eyes were fixed on Safir’s earrings, but she didn’t even need to move her eyes; her other senses told her that Safir had lowered his head and gently breathed against her ear, a cool breath brushing over the tip of her ear.
"Do you know how to protect yourself?"
Lin Lin heard Safir let out a cold laugh, as if he had heard the greatest joke.
"You are just too careless, and that’s why they take advantage of you."
