Chapter 228: You Treat Him Like a Medicine Ingredient
Orion never thought that on an ordinary day, he would face a low point in his life.
He went through great trouble to bring information to others but did not gain their trust.
"This is too fake," Allen had no interest in the so-called touching and dramatic stories of teachers and students; he was only thinking about how to deal with the "teacher" who occupied Lin Lin’s thoughts and consumed too much of her energy.
"Maybe what Orion said is true?" the Dark Elf spoke softly, looking much more relaxed, "Lin Lin doesn’t like to lie."
Clearly, Felix believed what Orion said, and the Dark Elf turned to look at the Dragon sitting at the long table.
The throne of Your Majesty the Demon King remained empty, and Safir sat in the first position.
"Safir, what do you think?" Felix did not like the dragon’s arrogance, but right now he needed to find a companion.
The dragon still had a cold expression, looking as if no one was allowed to come near. Felix secretly rolled his eyes; if it were truly a topic he was not interested in, Safir wouldn’t have bothered to come at all, and he wouldn’t have been sitting at the long table now, pretending otherwise.
"Let’s stop talking about this topic," Safir said, while Sapphire Dragon’s earring today was changed to blue feathers, a rather rare piece of jewelry. "Lin Lin wouldn’t like it if we talked about her behind her back."
Felix couldn’t help but roll his eyes again.
Allen was very taken by Safir’s ways; once this knowledgeable dragon made a decision, Allen’s simple mind stopped thinking, "Okay, Lord Safir!"
"I guess I was overthinking," Allen rested his chin on his hand, puffing his cheeks as he looked at his twin brother.
However, Arthur did not look at him.
He remained silent, his narrow, whale-like eyes fixed on the last dragon who spoke.
Safir’s calm gaze swept across them, and the two locked eyes.
"Huh?" Allen tilted his head and looked at Arthur, not understanding why he felt confused about his own brother.
Didn’t Lord Safir say that this topic was finished?
A few seconds later, Arthur’s gaze returned, and a sense of understanding let Allen know Arthur’s intention.
"Go back? Indeed, it seems tomorrow will be a sunny day," Allen showed a disappointed expression, "Let’s sneak a little rub on Lin Lin’s hair before we leave."

Another page of the book turned, Safir’s office was usually the quietest.
Even the noisy, immature monster babies knew to stay away from the dragon’s territory.
After the book was completely closed, Safir glanced at the window.
It was nighttime, a bright white moon hung in the sky, and the wind swirled in through the half-open window.
It was not Safir’s shift time, so he could have gone back to his nest.
But that young Red Dragon was a bit of trouble; Safir did not plan to really teach him anything. When Safir was still young, he already knew how to survive.
Young dragons raised by humans naturally hope that the elders will take care of them, believing that as long as they are not yet adults, responsible adults will manage their lives.
Well, maybe there really are. Safir felt a headache as he remembered Lin Lin; she had asked more than once about the young Red Dragon’s condition since she returned.
Lin Lin always had endless worries.
As if sensing Safir’s thoughts, there was a gentle knock on the door.
Safir sighed softly and then said, "Come in."
The door was gently pushed open, revealing the face of a human woman.
"Lord Safir, I’m very sorry to disturb you so late," Lin Lin began, "Layton is not doing well; the doctor said you would know more about the dragon’s situation."
Safir’s calm eyes widened slightly when he saw the boy being supported by Lin Lin, unable to believe that Lin Lin had brought Layton directly here.
Dragons are truly solitary creatures; in a normal ecosystem, one dragon would rule over a territory.
This means that there should not be two dragons on the same mountain. The fact that there are two dragons in Demon King Castle is simply Safir tolerating Layton’s youthfulness.
And now, Lin Lin had brought a Red Dragon into his office, a place that truly belongs to Safir!
Completely unaware of Safir’s shock and anger, Lin Lin faced Safir’s often angry expression every day, and she had grown used to his behavior.
Lin Lin helped the red-haired boy into a chair with a backrest, letting him sit back with his head held up.
The boy wore loose pajamas, revealing a small patch of his fair chest, and his cheeks were flushed as he breathed softly.
Layton’s usually bright golden eyes were clouded, and the Red Dragon opened its mouth as if to say something, then let out a small puff of fire.
"That’s why I brought him here," Lin Lin explained, "I was afraid he would burn down Demon King Castle."
Layton is, after all, a Red Dragon, and Red Dragons are always very destructive. At this moment, Lin Lin actually wished Layton were a White Dragon or an Ice Dragon, a type of creature that was more controllable.
Safir let out a cold laugh, "You can just cover his mouth."
"Is that alright?" Lin Lin hesitated for a moment. "I did think of that, but I’m afraid he will just burn the cloth I use to cover his mouth."
"If you fill it with cement, it will be fine," Safir said.
Lin Lin, who was trying to wet the cloth, slowly turned to look at Safir. After a moment, she realized Safir was angry.
Yes, angry, and unlike his usual cold self, he showed a subtle and strange attitude.
Lin Lin was stunned for a moment. To be honest, she had disturbed Safir more than once and had even pulled him from sleep before, but the behavior of the Sapphire Dragon had never been this strange before.
Safir’s anger was rarely indirect.
"Are you angry, Lord Safir?" Lin Lin asked.
"I don’t," Safir replied, squinting at Layton and speaking sharply, "It’s quite nice, he’s sweating. Don’t you want to collect it in a cup? Dragon sweat is very valuable."
"I don’t need his sweat!" Lin Lin raised her voice, "I simply want to help him, I’m not using him as a potion!"
Safir scoffed, "If you treat him like a potion, he might still be useful."
Lin Lin frowned; Safir’s strange hostility was becoming more and more obvious.
She tried hard to keep the atmosphere calm, but whenever Safir spoke, the air grew tense.
This wasn’t like him; usually, Safir looked down on a child like Layton. Layton was someone he wouldn’t even bother to get angry at.
"Lord Safir!" Lin Lin had to turn completely around and focus all her attention on Safir, "This is not the time to be upset. Layton is not feeling well."
"Why did you stop calling me ‘Teacher Safir’? Has someone reminded you that you sometimes mix up our titles?" Safir asked.
Lin Lin widened her eyes; they all knew who Safir meant by "we."
Safir from two hundred years ago.
Safir clearly knew about Lin Lin’s experiences of going back in time, and as soon as she saw him, she eagerly told him everything.
"I thought you didn’t like me calling you ‘teacher,’" Lin Lin said as she approached Safir, holding back her anger and emphasizing, "You said that I am not qualified to call you teacher."
Lin Lin’s words made Safir pause; he had never thought that his words would come back to him at this moment.
Layton, sitting in the chair, let out a soft sigh, and it seemed he had sniffled.
Lin Lin quickly turned around.
Someone grabbed her arm, stopping her from running to Layton.
"Since you remember that sentence, why don’t you remember the other things I said?" the Sapphire Dragon lowered his head and asked her.
Lin Lin looked confused.
She had to admit that the words Safir said that left the deepest impression on her were indeed the ones that scolded and mocked her.
Just like when she was in school as a girl, she only remembered the jokes and gossip the teacher told during class; she couldn’t remember any useful knowledge at all.
She didn’t mean to, but sometimes her mind was like a big sieve that let all the important information slip away.
Lin Lin’s awkward silence was very clear, and Safir sighed.
He had been sighing more frequently lately.
"Dragons… no, except for most human races, they are all races that experience spring restlessness," Safir whispered to her, "Why did you bring a young male Red Dragon going through spring here?"
The young man’s chest rose and fell slightly, as if he were trying to control the rhythm of his breathing.
Lin Lin covered her mouth and suddenly realized, "You are going through spring too."
