Chapter 226: It’s Such an Obvious Contract
The demon race is truly hard to kill.
Lin Lin began to understand why the Light Camp could maintain a stable situation after winning.
It might not just be because of the Light Camp’s kindness; the demon race could really be challenging.
After digging out Your Majesty the Demon King, Felix shook it off, revealing a brand new Demon King.
Your Majesty the Demon King lay flat on the ground like sushi, and Lin Lin quietly placed the furry cloak back over him.
The moment the clothes covered his body, a cold hand grasped Lin Lin’s hand.
Oh no!
Though Lin Lin knew that Your Majesty the Demon King was not dead, her mind still came to that conclusion.
It was so terrifying that Lin Lin felt completely stiff and calm.
Until Your Majesty the Demon King opened his eyes, and his misty purple eyes began to shed tears, he reached out his hand to Lin Lin, embracing her shoulder and crying softly.
That’s good, I’m glad I covered him with the cloak, otherwise the dirt would have stuck to him, thought Lin Lin.
"I’m back," Lin Lin patted Your Majesty the Demon King’s back to comfort him.
Heartbroken, Your Majesty the Demon King leaned weakly on Lin Lin’s shoulder, but soon he frowned, realizing something was wrong, and looked at Lin Lin’s neck, which was smooth and unmarked.
"What about the contract?" asked the Demon King, as Your Majesty the Demon King fell into despair. "I have such an obvious contract!"
Ah, he is going to make a scene again, he is going to cause trouble once more.
Lin Lin held his head down, just like pressing a noisy alarm clock to make it stop. Lin Lin asked, "Have you been doing your work properly lately?"
The "alarm clock" indeed stopped.
Lin Lin squinted, "Did you do a little bit, or did you do nothing at all?"
The other person fell completely silent.
–
Lin Lin found someone at the Demon King Castle who was truly on the verge of collapse.
The temporary accountant, Caligo.
When Lin Lin entered the office, he was still working. His usually high ponytail of red hair was messy and falling down, and there were piles of documents and unbound proofs scattered on the desk and floor.
The red-haired boy didn’t even look up when he heard the door open.
The moment Lin Lin entered, a piece of white paper with black letters floated in front of her, "General Reimbursement Form" attachment and sticking method (Attachment 1), "Travel Expense Reimbursement Form" attachment and sticking method (Attachment 2), handle it yourself, no help in organizing.
At first, Lin Lin was very worried. According to Caligo’s personality, he might take on all the work himself because he would feel shy to say no. Now it seemed that no matter how shy someone is, once they become an accountant, their heart becomes very tough.
"Caligo," Lin Lin said.
The boy, who was originally writing quickly on the paper, paused for a moment and looked up, revealing a pale face.
Ah… he is still a minor, Lin Lin’s conscience hurt a little.
Caligo already slept very little because of his health issues; Lin Lin could hardly imagine what terrifying amount of work he had been handling during this time.
The moment he saw Lin Lin, Caligo showed a peaceful smile.
The human boy slowly closed his eyes and fell from his seat.
"Caligo!" Lin Lin shouted.
Don’t smile too peacefully! It’s bad luck!
Most of the time, the doctor at the Demon King Castle has an easy job, like a lifeguard wearing shorts at a diving competition, very hard to notice.
Every creature in the Demon King Castle is so lively that the doctor sometimes thinks about giving a shot to the ones who are too noisy. The Demon King and Allen have the most votes.
Since Lin Lin arrived at the Demon King Castle, the otter Orc Daisy only has something to do in the infirmary once in a while.
"Even though I did say that having one more human at the Demon King Castle would help you relieve stress," Daisy poured a bubbling green potion into Caligo, "can we find someone a bit tougher? He looks like he might meet the God of Darkness any second now."
Lin Lin found it hard to directly ask why this potion was bubbling.
"How is he doing now?" Lin Lin asked.
"A delicate balance," Daisy said, "I don’t know how he has managed to hold on with such a bad condition, but the good news is he won’t die today."
Lin Lin sighed in relief.
Caligo is resting in the infirmary, with Daisy as the professional doctor taking care of him.
As Lin Lin left the infirmary, she saw the smiling Allen waving at her.
"Because if the weather is sunny tomorrow, we have to go back," Allen said, "It’s been so long since we last met, and I want to spend more time with you."
The way he confidently stated this reason made it hard to refuse.
Lin Lin glanced past Allen and looked at Arthur, who was standing behind him.
The young man still had a cold expression, but at the moment their eyes met, Arthur gave a slight nod.
However, Lin Lin believed Arthur’s nod was not in agreement with Allen, but simply a greeting.
Lin Lin was very sure that the twin’s opinions were not always the same.
"I can if I want to," Lin Lin took two steps forward, and Allen naturally followed her side, "but I just got back, and there are many little things to do."
"Leave it to us!" Allen confidently patted his chest.
Even with his confident assurance, Lin Lin could not trust him at all.
The papers left by Caligo needed to be sorted, while the Demon King was in the office, crying and catching up on work.
Having two adult men as helpers in the office was really nice, and the orcas were magic insulators, so they wouldn’t clash with the light-type magical tools in the office. How wonderful!
Lin Lin suddenly remembered that there was a Red Dragon hibernating in Demon King Castle, but asking Allen wouldn’t get her any answers.
"Has Teacher Safir gone back?" Lin Lin asked.
"Probably not," Allen blinked, "Lin, why do you call him Teacher Safir? He must really dislike being called that by anyone other than the Demon King."
"Did I just call the teacher?" Lin Lin’s mind went blank because the name came out so easily that she had no memory of it. "Then I made a mistake."
"You called her that this morning too," Allen insisted. "There must be a reason!"
"I already said it was a mistake," Lin Lin nudged him to move another pile of books to the corner.
Allen was completely illiterate, and he needed Arthur’s help with sorting. However, the twin pair worked together very well and quickly.
"That was quick and smooth," Lin Lin praised.
—
"Today, Lin Lin praised us for being quick and smooth," Allen said.
"If you mean this," Safir rubbed his forehead, "then I will leave."
The long table meeting is often used to discuss important matters of the Demon King Castle.
"Please speak a little louder. Lin Lin has placed a spell on my office door to prevent anyone from entering," the Demon King’s voice hissed from the phone, accompanied by the sound of frantic writing, "I don’t have a good signal here."
"I am glad you are still alive, Your Majesty the Demon King," the Death Knight greeted the Demon King on the way.
"Thank you," replied the Demon King.
Felix the Dark Elf boredly tore a piece of paper from his notebook to fold into paper butterflies, completely unaware that the source of the chaos was his own act of burying the Demon King in the ground.
The Sapphire Dragon’s head hurt even more; Safir could not understand why he had to attend such a silly meeting started by an orca.
Safir prepared to stand up.
"Lin Lin has a teacher now," Allen began.
Safir, who had intended to stand up, rethought his decision; the Sapphire Dragon raised an eyebrow slightly, "Really?"
Safir did not think Allen was lying, but he also found "Lin Lin has a teacher" to be a very amusing idea.
For now, Safir does not think there are many people in Demon King Castle or the sanctuary who are qualified to teach Lin Lin.
Allen completely does not understand Safir’s sarcasm; he simply feels that the Sapphire Dragon is asking a question.
"Yes," Allen nodded, "and it probably resembles Lord Safir. Maybe it is also a dragon? Or perhaps has an arrogant personality?"
He actually said "arrogant" in front of Safir. Orion smiled bitterly inside; he really did not want to join this secret discussion about Lin Lin anymore. One day, Lin Lin would find out and then take care of all of them.
Arthur glanced at Allen, and finally, Allen started to move in the important direction.
"The point is!" Allen said, "Lin Lin really depends on that teacher! Even when they are apart, she can’t help but mention her. She accidentally called Safir the wrong name several times."
A loud alarm rang out at the long table.
The previously relaxed individuals sat up straight.
"Why should she?" The first to speak was Felix. "I bet that teacher is not as familiar with her as I am!"
"So," Allen tapped the table with his hand and asked the skilled assassin, the Dark Elf, "Are you interested in investigating?"
Felix did not answer but instead tossed the question to Your Majesty the Demon King, "What do you think?"
Knowing that Lin Lin’s "disappearance" was actually a return to two hundred years ago, Your Majesty the Demon King took a rare moment to think seriously; he didn’t believe anyone would become Lin Lin’s teacher.
Safir was also thinking alongside His Majesty.
After Lin Lin’s return, he had actually heard Lin Lin call him teacher more than once, but because of her overly relaxed attitude, Safir didn’t think much about it.
"Don’t think too much about it," the only former human raised his hand; Orion didn’t understand why things became so complicated, "I can just ask Lin Lin."
Everyone around the round table fell silent again.
Orion was indeed the only one who could go and ask.
