Chapter 198: What Will the Young You Do?
"Teacher Safir, what is a human?"
Safir saw an unexpected person at the office door.
Maybe it was because Demon King Castle is a comforting place, or perhaps the demon race boy in front of him had grown beyond his expectations, Safir truly did not sense the demon standing at his door.
The boy stood there quietly, expressionless, as if the person who had just asked the question was not him.
Safir looked behind the boy but did not see Lin Lin.
Safir picked up and put down the book in his hand and said, "Come in."
The curtains and windows in Sapphire Dragon’s office were unusually open because it was still raining outside, creating a gloomy and dark atmosphere familiar to the Dragon race.
This heavy rain had continued for several days but still did not affect the shattered sky.
Sapphire Dragon sat back down, and the boy standing in the middle of the office did not look for a chair, nor did Safir remind him.
Everything in the room was very quiet, a complex and rich decoration of the Dragon race, except for the black mist floating in the air, which suddenly erupted as the boy got closer.
Unlike the gentle and soft mist around Lin Lin, this black mist looked quite fierce.
Safir took the boiling kettle off the stove and poured a cup of tea for himself and the boy.
The tea was scalding hot, and the boy took the cup without blinking and gulped it down.
"Bitter…" The boy’s face scrunched up.
Safir decided never to share any fine tea with that tasteless guy again.
"Why ask humans?" Safir blew over the white mist rising from the cup of tea.
This time, the boy who came here on his own looked confused; he didn’t seem to know why he was asking, he just came instinctively.
He believed that Safir could answer his questions.
Safir sighed softly, remembering what Lin Lin had said about this demon: he would become the Demon King 200 years later, "Humans are a weak and short-lived race."
The boy looked at his teacher, the Sapphire Dragon.
"The rest you will have to explore on your own."
–
Something was very wrong.
Lin Lin woke up from her bed, feeling uneasy because she had slept too deeply.
She lifted the bed curtain and looked at the clock on the wall; it was four in the morning.
She could sleep for another four hours! Waking up at this time felt a bit wonderful!
But surprisingly, she wasn’t very sleepy and felt a sense of strength in her body.
Lin Lin reached to touch the mark on her neck, where she still felt an uncomfortable emptiness.
"I’ll drink a little water and then go back to sleep," Lin Lin thought as she climbed to the edge of the bed and reached for her slippers.
Good, now she understood why she felt something was off; her foot did not land on her fluffy slippers as she had hoped, but rather stepped into a soft, slippery liquid.
A black liquid.
Lin Lin reached out, and her magic wand appeared in her hand; before she could speak, the Light Bomb had already sunk into the pitch-black liquid.
The light was quietly swallowed.
The black liquid was still rising. Lin Lin tried to make her magic wand float in the air, but this time she failed; her flying spell didn’t work.
Shouting outside brought no response from anyone.
A few minutes later, Lin Lin climbed back to the edge of her bed and poked the black liquid with her magic wand. It didn’t seem to react, and nothing was left on the wand.
Well then, let’s step on it again.
Lin Lin got off the bed again and finally found her short boots while searching.
She pushed open the window.
Lin Lin looked up.
The bright full moon hung quietly in the sky, and the broken marks in the sky had not changed.
But Lin Lin still noticed something different. The Demon King Castle had many creatures of the night, and usually, the night would not be too quiet. Now, all she could hear was the thick sound of the slime moving.
Lin Lin pushed open the bedroom door, and the carpet outside was covered in black slime.
Some monsters were lying against the wall, peacefully asleep.
Lin Lin stepped on the slime to nudge him, but the monster was breathing steadily and could not wake up at all.
The entire castle was asleep.
Lin Lin vaguely guessed that the scene before her was connected to the one who could control the entire Demon King Castle.
She lifted her dress and waded through the water toward the room of the demon race boy.
One step, two steps.
Lin Lin stopped in her tracks.
The mark on her neck began to feel hot.
Lin Lin turned around and saw a hazy figure in a thick black liquid, tall, broad, and familiar.
But at this moment, the usually lively Your Majesty the Demon King looked a bit tired, even the grand fur-lined cloak seemed to droop.
Letting go of her dress, Lin Lin immediately ran towards the figure.
It was not an illusion; though it was somewhat blurry, it was indeed Your Majesty the Demon King from two hundred years later.
"Lin!" The other person showed a surprised expression, raised both hands, and waved at her, "I finally succeeded this time!"
"How did you do that?" Lin Lin widened her eyes in disbelief.
"Because I originally had a connection with Demon King Castle, and I also had a connection with you," Your Majesty the Demon King said with a bright smile, "As long as I cut off the connection between my younger self and Demon King Castle, I would have the chance to meet you!"
Lin Lin: …!!!
Is it really okay to do this? Won’t it cause any problems?
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this face looking so bright; I’m even a little unaccustomed to it!
"So, what about the young you?" Lin Lin asked this question.
"Wow! So much gooey stuff is coming out," Your Majesty the Demon King looked down, raising his leg to try to avoid the slime, "The signal suddenly got really bad; it might be related to the weather!"
"Don’t pretend you can’t hear me!" Lin Lin reached out to touch the other’s horns, but her hand went right through the young man’s figure and missed.
After being "touched" by her, the originally unclear image became even more intermittent.
"There’s no time!" Lin Lin raised her voice, "Quickly tell me what spell Safir finally discovered! How did he save your life?"
"Uh, you have to ask Safir about that," Your Majesty the Demon King replied, "But he is not at Demon King Castle right now; he went to the sanctuary."
Lin Lin was shocked: What!
"Safir originally wanted Felix to steal some time-related magic, but it had nothing to do with time travel," answered Your Majesty the Demon King. "Safir said, ‘It’s useless, let’s destroy it.’"
"No, please do not start an unnecessary war out of anger; thank you very much." Lin Lin rolled her eyes.
"How did you find me?" Lin Lin sighed. She couldn’t find any useful information from the Demon King; she had even started to make small talk.
"Because you kept getting lost in time, I followed the traces of Demon King Castle year by year. I should have looked backward from the time you appeared in my childhood!" Your Majesty the Demon King hadn’t talked to Lin Lin for a long time and was now chattering away.
That sounds really tiring.
Lin Lin imagined how hard it would be to find a character that appeared for just a few seconds in a two-hundred-year-long unedited video.
She couldn’t even focus enough to watch a forty-minute online class on her computer.
This Majesty was a person who found it even harder to calm down than she did.
"Because you grew more confident in your time travel; at first, I thought you were just playing around."
Suddenly, Lin Lin realized something.
After she showed a confused look, the previously chattering Your Majesty the Demon King also fell silent.
Lin Lin looked up at him, "How do you know my state when I rewind time?"
She gazed into the dark violet eyes that shimmered with a gentle glow.
"Or do you remember every time I rewind?"
