Chapter 187: Demon King Castle Does Not Keep Idle People
"What are you doing?" Bulwo finally couldn’t hold back his question about the leash in Lin Lin’s hand.
In a visible area of Demon King Castle, the collar that was previously around Small Coal Ball’s neck had been replaced by a rope tied around the wrist.
Small Coal Ball still felt that the rope on his hand was very awkward, affecting his normal movements. It was more convenient around his neck.
"You must have a little sense of shame…" Lin Lin sometimes felt out of place with everyone in the Demon King Castle because she was too normal.
"How should I put it," Lin Lin explained to Bulwo, "for some reason, I always feel like everything becomes quite bad after passing through a killer whale’s mouth. This symbolizes our good relationship, like how some good friends always want to be together."
The adult killer whale showed a completely disbelieving expression.
But someone believed it. The boy standing next to Lin Lin proudly puffed out his chest. He looked delicate and beautiful, but this gesture softened his refined beauty and even looked a little funny.
Lin Lin remembered a time in modern society when she joked with friends that looks could really be a source of happiness; just seeing a pretty face could brighten her mood.
Now, Lin Lin had to admit that she was not as shallow as she thought. Sometimes, seeing these troublemaking outsiders really filled her with anger.
Bulwo glanced sideways at the proud-looking demon race; the boy’s violet eyes looked down at him a bit provocatively.
This monster returned to the Demon King Castle after taking on a human form. Even though it had hardly interacted with the outside world, somehow it developed a spoiled character.
Although teaching him was not Bulwo’s responsibility, for some reason, seeing him so pleased made people feel a little annoyed.
"Has he been following you the whole time?" Bulwo pointed to the boy and asked Lin Lin, "Now that he’s older, shouldn’t he do something? Like expand the demon realm or something."
The boy’s eyes widened as he cautiously looked up at the much larger orca.
The adult orca had a smile that said everything was under control, "After all, the Demon King Castle doesn’t keep idle people."
Bulwo’s words hit two targets at once.
The demon race boy did not react; he was content to be useless, but Lin Lin, with her higher moral standards, felt a sting in her heart.
It hurt so much, like being called useless right to your face.
Bulwo reached out and took the leash from Lin Lin’s hand, "I’ll help you train the newcomer; you should go take care of important things."
Lin Lin wanted to stop him, but she really couldn’t think of what use the demon race boy could have, so she could only watch him being dragged away with a sad face by Bulwo, who had sharp, jagged teeth.
Lin Lin looked at the boy getting farther away and thought for a moment before telling Bulwo, "Be gentle with him."
He is still very precious, after all, he will be the future Demon King.
Bulwo turned around, and the adult orca smirked, "Don’t worry, I will take good care of him."
Lin Lin stared at the little lamb being taken away and suddenly regretted saying too much.
–
Lin Lin followed Safir, who took a book off the shelf, and she eagerly reached out to catch it.
Safir’s office was filled with the smell of old books; he had brought many ancient books from somewhere. The pages, wrapped in parchment covers, were thin and fragile and needed careful handling.
The room of the Sapphire Dragon was a little colder than the others, and Lin Lin did not complain about the cold air in the office like before, instead, she acted obediently.
"So, Bulwo is indeed making things difficult for Small Coal Ball; he is really too free…" Lin Lin knew that the person currently making decisions in the Demon King Castle was Safir, and she tried to report Bulwo’s actions to the Sapphire Dragon, hoping it would keep Bulwo away from the little lamb.
As Lin Lin was speaking, Safir looked back while taking another book from the shelf. The Sapphire Dragon lowered its gaze and looked at her.
Whenever he moved his head, the earring on one side always caught Lin Lin’s attention.
"So what have you been doing these days?" Safir asked.
"What?" Lin Lin blinked, her eyes still on the deep blue earring of the Sapphire Dragon, as another thick book fell into her arms, which Lin Lin hugged tightly.
"You these days," Safir began, his voice cold, "neither studying nor handling matters, what exactly are you doing?"
I am busy trying to control the God of Darkness. Lin Lin thought to herself, feeling the weight of a secret.
Lin Lin looked down at the book she was holding, captured her attention by "time," and opened it to see the contents inside.
"Are you studying spells about time and space?" Lin Lin hesitantly asked.
It was truly surprising!
Lin Lin remembered that two hundred years later, Safir really disliked time-related spells. Even when she hinted at it, he had scolded her several times, and now she was surprised that the current Safir was actively studying it.
When Lin Lin shared her curiosity about knowledge, the qualified teacher, even though not very willing, still answered honestly, "These spells are indeed very deep, but if used correctly, they can be very… convenient."
"Oh," Lin Lin made an odd sound in response.
In that moment, the human woman and the orca brain began to think about the possibility that Safir’s messy hair was causing time to reset.
It was very possible! Maybe that was his motivation for studying!
"What are you thinking?" Safir frowned at Lin Lin’s dazed expression. "I won’t waste my energy on trivial things!"
Oh, clearly someone not only guessed this but also said it in front of Safir. An image of an adult orca suddenly appeared in Lin Lin’s mind.
"I didn’t mean it that way," Lin Lin assured Safir, "Have you discovered anything?"
The Sapphire Dragon’s bright eyes gazed at Lin Lin, ensuring there was no hidden mockery in her gaze.
"Of course, this spell is not difficult to use," Safir answered, "The hard part is the medium; it has to be something that comes from outside this world."
"Whether it’s pieces of a god or a meteor from another world," Sapphire Dragon said calmly, "In other words, it must be something that is not affected by the ‘time’ of this world."
Lin Lin remembered how she once saw the world and time being endlessly compressed in the realm of the God of Light; the domain of the gods is indeed different from that of humans.
Since Safir is very interested in traveling through time and space, maybe she could share her experiences with him?
"Lord Safir," Lin Lin began, "About time and space…"
"Huh?" Sapphire Dragon looked down, his deep blue hair tucked behind his ears, and he noticed the short hair that stuck up on Lin Lin’s forehead.
Safir reached out to smooth the loose hair on Lin Lin’s forehead.
Dragons are perfect and flawless; Safir bore not a single wound, and his fingers were as cold and white as jade.
When a dragon gazes at someone, even if it is unintentional, the natural pressure they give off can still be overwhelming.
"About the magic of time and space…" Lin Lin thought for a moment about how to say it more clearly.
"Well," Safir’s gaze fell on her face, "It is for you."
Lin Lin’s mind went blank for a moment; she even doubted if Safir already knew her secret about time and space.
Soon, Lin Lin realized that Safir did not know.
Because his hand gently touched her face, this touch was so light that if it weren’t for the cool feeling remaining on her skin, Lin Lin would have thought it was her imagination.
"The lifespan of humans is still too short."
The Sapphire Dragon spoke in a low voice.
