Chapter 145: Master Lin Is Just Kind
Lin Lin searched everywhere for Orion to return the cut colored paper to him.
Since the demon realm became the land of eternal night, Orion hardly stayed in the grave anymore; instead, he was busier.
This made it very hard to find the Death Knight.
Every creature said, "He was just here," but when Lin Lin reached the place the creature mentioned, she could no longer see the Death Knight.
At the entrance of Demon King Castle, two Worgen brothers who usually guard the door moved two chairs from somewhere. Like stone lions, they sat on each side of the big gate, their fluffy paws resting on the scissors handles, cutting paper just like Lin Lin.
Remembering that Dark Elf Felix had a task to fold paper, Lin Lin suddenly understood what level her crafting skills were seen as.
She was at the same level as the fluffy-pawed Worgen brother, whose fingers were a bit thick, and tears filled Lin Lin’s heart.
"Have any of you seen Orion?" Lin Lin asked the Worgen brothers.
The Worgen guard, who had not looked up before, immediately stood when he heard Lin Lin’s voice, "Um, I think he was in the basement!"
When the Worgen was sitting, he was a little shorter than Lin Lin standing; when he stood up, he was much taller, and Lin Lin had to look up at him.
The Worgen’s deep gray pointed ears drooped slightly, causing his canine head to lower as well, when he spoke to Lin Lin.
The Worgen on the other side of the door was startled by the noise and quickly stood up, looking blankly in this direction.
"Master Lin," Worgen hid the card he was holding behind his back, "we are not slacking off; we are just helping."
"No need to be so nervous, I am just looking for Orion." No matter how many times the other person called her ‘madam,’ Lin Lin couldn’t get used to it.
Caligo is okay; even though he sees Lin Lin as ‘madam,’ he is not nervous. But someone like Worgen, who has escaped from low-level monsters and possesses common sense as a regular employee of the Demon King Castle, feels genuinely anxious when he sees Lin Lin.
Although Worgen received Lin Lin’s assurance, his tail remained stiff and upright.
"Master Orion might be in the basement; we heard him talking with someone else."
"Alright!" Realizing that no matter what she said, the other person would not relax, Lin Lin decided to leave soon.
Before leaving, she looked at the neatly cut card beside Worgen’s chair.
"Well done," Lin Lin praised, "your crafting skills are excellent."
This time, the Worgen brother clearly did not know what to say, but his tail started to wag uncontrollably, the stiff fur brushing against the chair’s back, making a slight sound.
After watching Lin Lin leave, the Worgen’s tail wagged even more vigorously.
"Master Lin praised me," the grey wolf said to another Worgen across from him, "Did you hear? Master Lin said I did a good job."
"I heard," said the white-furred Worgen, who had resumed sitting in the chair, leaning his ear close to the grey wolf as a sign of refusal, showing he wasn’t very interested in the topic.
"She said I did a good job," the grey wolf repeated.
The white furry ears lifted up again, and the white wolf spoke, "Master Lin is just kind; she would say that to anyone."
–
Basement, basement.
Lin Lin whispered the destination to herself as she walked down the stairs.
The place that was becoming more familiar with every step was once abandoned, and Lin Lin rarely came here. Halfway through, she remembered that a vampire was still imprisoned here.
Orion was indeed here; he came to deliver blood packs to Blood Clan Damonis.
As a model worker at Demon King Castle, he even needed to ensure that his coworkers wouldn’t die too quickly.
After all, vampires were very rare in this era.
When Lin Lin reached the last step, she heard the final sound of Damonis drinking; the translucent blood bag was completely flattened as he drained it.
Lin Lin looked toward the source of the noise, and the two men standing there also turned to look at her because of the footsteps.
Orion’s expression could not be seen under his helmet, but the eerie blue flames surrounding the Death Knight flared up suddenly, showing his surprise.
Compared to Orion, the Blood Clan member who had once drunk Lin Lin’s blood showed a look of "I knew it was you."
The thin vampire stood in the dimly lit cell, shadows falling across his sharp features.
After drinking Lin Lin’s blood, Damonis became very sensitive to her scent.
As the first taste of blood in his life, Damonis’s mind had actually forgotten the description of the taste of blood, but just being close made his mouth water, knowing who was coming.
His bright red lips and eyes were out of control.
The vampire with black short hair glanced over Lin Lin’s neck. It was colder than before, so she wore a thick fur-collared coat that covered part of her neck.
Damonis raised an eyebrow, showing a somewhat disappointed expression.
Damonis always liked to show a kind of indifference towards food when he was with Lin Lin, to show his own nobility and grace.
Damonis said, "You actually have the courage to come here, aren’t you afraid I will attack you?"
Lin Lin was completely unfazed by his act, especially knowing that Damonis wasn’t very bright; she felt calmly amused like she was dealing with a fool.
"Actually, I’m here to find Orion," Lin Lin said, "I forgot you were here too."
It is true that Lin Lin only remembered the Blood Clan halfway.
Lin Lin’s honest words made the other person very angry; the vampire turned into a black bat and flew into the railing, "How could you forget me!"
The railing made a loud noise when the little bat hit it. Lin Lin completely ignored him and walked in front of Orion, handing him the piece of paper, "I came to turn in my homework."
Orion took Lin Lin’s paper, and after a few seconds of silence, a hoarse voice came from under his helmet, "Who gave this to you?"
Lin Lin: …?
Lin Lin blinked and stared at the armor in front of her, "Didn’t you ask Rock Slime to give this to me?"
"Because you were very busy with work, I didn’t assign it to you," Orion replied, carefully examining the tiny dirt and water stains on the paper.
"Why shouldn’t she get a task!" The little bat in the cell crashed into the railing again.
Lin Lin looked up at the silver anklet around the bat’s ankle, its red bean-like eyes glaring angrily at her.
Lin Lin peeked inside the cell and saw dozens of paper cranes neatly placed on the table, and dozens more laid on the newspaper-covered floor, making the total look over a hundred.
Shock! This guy can fold paper too! And there are so many!
What is this feeling of sitting in jail while stepping on a sewing machine!
"Because he can only stay here, Damonis produces a lot," Orion honestly replied, "Felix just drags his feet."
Yes, dragging his feet really matches the sneaky image of a Dark Elf. Lin Lin gave a dry laugh.
Perhaps because of the proud nature of the Blood Clan, Damonis’s paper cranes are all very well-folded and neat, looking like they were made from the same mold.
Realizing that Lin Lin was watching his work, the little bat floating in the air spread its wings, trying hard to block Lin Lin’s view.
At that moment, Orion remembered to whom the cardstock in Lin Lin’s hands originally belonged.
"This cardstock was supposed to go to Your Majesty the Demon King’s room," Orion said, resting his fist against the mouth of his helmet, deep in thought, "maybe the slime delivering the cardstock was turned away by the Demon King, so it sought your help."
A flash of lightning struck Lin Lin’s brain.
She can cut paper, she can help decorate Demon King Castle, but she cannot take over someone else’s work for free!
Lin Lin’s face turned dark.
Orion patted her head, trying to ease Lin Lin’s feelings, "Slimes are the most basic monsters; they don’t have this kind of awareness at all."
"No," Lin Lin said coldly, "I want to see the one who gives others the cold shoulder."
"Your Majesty the Demon King?" Orion recalled, "He seems to have not gone out for several days."
Hmm?
Lin Lin looked up; because she had been busy with work lately, she hadn’t noticed how long it had been since she saw the Demon King with Safir making complicated magic.
"Did Safir say the Demon King was doing okay?" Lin Lin remembered that Sapphire Dragon said something like that.
"If it is Lord Safir’s idea," the Death Knight replied honestly, "as long as you are not dead, it’s all ‘not bad.’"
Lin Lin: ???
