Chapter 123: I Really Like My New Students
Even though she knew the school’s students were very… rare, Lin Lin never imagined they would be this rare.
The Dragon race, even in the Demon King Castle, has only one official worker, and seeing a Red Dragon in a city mostly filled with humans felt like being in a zoo without a ticket.
Lin Lin even felt she needed to give the school 20 dollars back.
Having witnessed the true size of a full-grown dragon, seeing this Red Dragon, which was about the size of a panda, crash heavily to the ground and create a pit, Lin Lin easily understood that this creature was a young Red Dragon.
The Red Dragon, tangled in flames, looked very messy. It curled itself into a ball to avoid being burned by the holy fire.
Although the Red Dragon also used fire as a weapon, it was clear that the two types of fire were not the same, so they could harm each other.
Looking at Norman’s expression, it was clear that he had dealt with this little Red Dragon before.
Lin Lin walked closer to the Red Dragon, which was covered in dust and dirt. When it heard Lin Lin’s footsteps, the Red Dragon clearly thought she was Norman and struggled to get up.
The Red Dragon made a youthful voice, "Stop with the nonsense! If you’re brave, throw that thing away and let’s fight!"
Lin Lin, "…Who would fight a Dragon race in hand-to-hand combat? Only someone with a problem in their head would agree."
Not hearing an answer, the Red Dragon opened its eyes and looked at the newcomer with anger.
Lin Lin was a bit surprised; the Red Dragon had golden eyes.
Lin Lin had thought that just like the Sapphire Dragon had blue eyes, the Red Dragon should have red eyes too.
A vertical pupil in the deep golden eyes is one of the features of the Dragon race.
In the sunlight, golden eyes are actually very bright and beautiful. Even though they lack the jewel-like color reflections of the Gem Dragon’s eyes, the Red Dragon’s golden eyes, with their chaotic deep brown patterns, are also very charming.
The eyes look like dried land swallowed by magma, perhaps that is why their kind prefers to choose such nests.
Lin Lin smiled and waved at him, "Hello!"
The Red Dragon was already struggling to stand up, but after seeing Lin Lin, he lost his balance. His body was quite slender, and his tail was too heavy for him, causing him to fall backward and roll on the ground.
Yes, compared to Safir’s original form, he is indeed very thin.
Safir’s original lower body is wide and strong. Lin Lin once asked if he had eaten too much and gained weight, which earned her a cold snort and pushed away from the Sapphire Dragon.
When Safir wants to hide, it’s really hard for others to find him.
Thanks to the Red Dragon’s heavy tail once again, he still managed to stand up after rolling once.
Lin Lin couldn’t help but clap for him.
Hearing the applause, the Red Dragon froze for a moment. Not knowing if it was because he felt embarrassed in front of someone he had just met, he pretended not to see Lin Lin at all and turned to Norman, shouting loudly, "Why do I keep running into you!"
"Because you’re always causing trouble on weekends, and I easily come around at this time," the Knight Commander smiled.
Lin Lin looked confused.
The Knight Commander explained to her, "During the week, they have classes, and the teachers are always chasing them around the campus."
Lin Lin’s expression towards the Red Dragon became more subtle as her mind automatically pictured the teachers chasing rabbits in the fields. It seemed that these teachers should be quite strong.
"Now, I need to get him in front of their teacher," Norman urged the Red Dragon. "Hurry and change into human form; it’s hard to walk on two legs like this."
Caligo made an objective comment, "It… can walk on four legs?"
Now not only Norman but even Lin Lin had a "just be a person" look, and the respectful animal-lover Caligo took back his words and obediently followed at the end of the line.
The Red Dragon became a short-haired boy with fluffy red hair. He seemed to lack the ability to fully transform, as the horns on his forehead and the wings on his back were still visible. A red gem earring hung from his left ear.
As he brushed past Lin Lin, this boy, who also looked about fifteen or sixteen, slightly raised his chin and avoided her gaze once more.
The dragon race really loves wearing single earrings. Lin Lin suspected it was their sense of beauty.
Norman put handcuffs on the Red Dragon and then led him away.
This scene felt very familiar. Lin Lin, wearing a collar around her neck, showed a sympathetic expression.
Norman walked ahead while Lin Lin and Caligo held hands and followed closely behind like schoolchildren.
The spacious school, filled with lush greenery, made it hard to tell which tree a student might pop out from.
It was a zoo; it was definitely a zoo. Lin Lin quietly made the judgment in her heart.
"That dragon has red hair too," Lin Lin whispered to Caligo, "and he’s wearing a red earring as well. You two look a bit alike."
Caligo’s gaze followed Lin Lin’s gesture and looked at the back of the dragon’s head.
"We are not alike," Caligo quietly disagreed with Lin Lin’s opinion, "he is a monster."
People often confuse beast-like races with monsters.
Lin Lin remembered the illness that Caligo had, an illness that prevented him from sleeping freely, just so he wouldn’t become a distorted creature.
Lin Lin immediately shook Caligo’s arm and said, "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to."
The dragon race has excellent hearing; the young Red Dragon turned around and saw this scene.
All along the way, the Red Dragon had treated Lin Lin like air, but now he approached the Knight Commander who was holding him, "Are they a couple?"
"No," Norman quickly answered, his bright blue eyes glanced over the two behind him.
"So, are they new students?" the Red Dragon asked again.
Norman looked down at the Red Dragon, whose cheek still bore a trace of blood, and said seriously, "They are not; they are guests."
But the Red Dragon seemed to ignore the Knight Commander’s insistence. He glanced back once again, unable to control his eyes.
"Her black hair is beautiful, like sparkling black diamonds."
Norman suddenly remembered that, in traditional Red Dragons, it only took a second for them to decide to capture a princess. They did not need to understand someone deeply like humans; their genes told them everything they needed to know.
–
"I have brought your student," Norman knocked on the wooden cabin door.
The door opened half a minute later, revealing a slightly drunken face inside.
The person was tall, with gray-purple long hair tied in two loose braids that hung down one side of their shoulder.
First, the person saw Norman standing at the door, the Red Dragon, and then their gaze turned to Lin Lin.
…is a great beauty!
Even after admiring the beauty of different races, when those misty gray-purple eyes looked over, Lin Lin still felt a shiver run through her shoulder.
This beauty was different from the elegant and aloof charm of elves, blessed by light.
The beauty in front of her seemed to pull people into an abyss, filled with a lazy, carefree allure.
When their eyes met, Lin Lin noticed the person was wearing a pearl-white sleeveless dress, with a cold white collarbone showing.
Even though it was winter and the Holy Knight Commander wore thick winter clothes, this person wrapped their body in soft, silky fabric, looking completely unbothered by the cold.
The person smiled gently at Lin Lin, who noticed a light freckle at the corner of their lips.
Lin Lin couldn’t help but blush.
"I really like my new student," the beauty’s voice was deeper than Lin Lin had imagined, but it was still warm and pleasant to hear.
"No," the Knight Commander said expressionlessly as he held up the Red Dragon in front of the teacher, "this is your student."
"Tsk."
