Chapter 115: This Is a Bear

In the heavy snow, even when standing in a narrow alley, white snow still falls on the top of the head.

The sunlight on a snowy day struggles to shine through the thick clouds; the Dark Elf did not wear a hood, revealing pointed ears that belong to elves beneath silver strands of hair.

In this sea of white, Felix, with skin like dark wood, looks out of place with the surroundings.

Felix swallowed the healing potion and guessed its effect by the taste, "A human healing potion?"

When Felix was making potions, he also tried potions from other races.

Lin Lin nodded.

Felix smirked and casually stuffed the empty bottle into his coat pocket, "It feels a bit wasteful to me; this potion has poor healing effects on dark creatures."

Lin Lin reached out to him, signaling him to return the bottle, "Give me back the bottle; this one can be reused."

Felix began to firmly believe his guess, "… That group of knights really hurt you, didn’t they? You didn’t have to live this kind of hard life at Demon King Castle."

"Let’s talk about that later," Lin Lin pointed to the wound on the Dark Elf’s waist, "Your old injury hasn’t healed, how did you get a new one?"

Felix snorted softly, "It’s just a small injury."

When Lin Lin reached out to touch him, the Dark Elf’s slender waist trembled for a moment at her touch, and Felix’s silver eyes quickly blinked twice, revealing tears, clearly in a lot of pain.

Lin Lin could tell from Felix’s recent move to avoid her punch that he was hurt badly; otherwise, with Felix’s strange personality, he would have eagerly welcomed her instead.

The Dark Elf seemed to not care much; perhaps this was a common situation for him.

Knowing that Your Majesty the Demon King had sent Felix to find her, Lin Lin was still very concerned about what could hurt the Dark Elf.

"I found Caligo following the broken teleportation circle, and then I went to the Old Demon Realm," Felix wondered, "Caligo is one thing, but why would you go there? That place is already filled with polluted monsters, and even the people from Demon King Castle avoid it."

Oh, Felix was attacked by those crazy monsters, and because Lin Lin had seen level forty sandworms, she could completely understand why Felix had fallen into such a dangerous situation.

Unfortunately, the bracelet used to estimate combat levels was broken by the sandworm, or else Lin Lin would have wanted to check the levels of everyone at Demon King Castle.

"Those monsters are very scary," Lin Lin nodded seriously, "Your wounds could be caused by the monsters. Are they contagious?"

Illnesses among humans can be contagious.

"Huh?" Felix looked down at his wound on his abdomen, realizing that Lin Lin had misunderstood something, "These wounds weren’t made by monsters."

Lin Lin: ?

Then what could have harmed Felix? Could it be that he was really beaten for stealing something?

"How should I put it," Felix scratched his chin, the not very educated Dark Elf began to search for the right words, "It was a bear. I encountered a bear with wings. Very troublesome, with thick meat and strong self-healing abilities, completely brainless, it chased and tried to hit me as soon as it saw me, and I almost got caught."

Felix clicked his tongue, "Even though that guy doesn’t seem to be infected with a virus, it feels like his brain is completely poisoned."

Lin Lin: …

Lin Lin, "…is that short-haired angel! He went back to the Old Demon Realm to continue clearing out the monsters!"

Felix always manages to be unkind and never popular, but his descriptions are so accurate that it’s easy to understand who he is talking about.

Lin Lin even began to wonder if her moral decline was influenced by Felix’s subtle ways.

However, it is easy to understand why Felix met that angel.

Lin Lin pointed to the collar around her neck, showing Felix the soft golden glow, "We met him too. Both Caligo and I have this on our necks. He did it, and the knights are taking us to the sanctuary to remove the collars."

Felix was shocked for two seconds, clearly not expecting that Lin Lin and he had gotten into the same trouble.

"Can’t we go back to the Demon King Castle first?" Felix asked as he reached out to touch the collar around Lin Lin’s neck.

Lin Lin stepped back, but the Dark Elf’s fingertips still brushed against the collar, causing Felix’s fingertip to corrode and bleed a little.

Felix put his fingertip in his mouth, "The power of light."

This guy’s mouth can really taste a lot of strange things.

Lin Lin nodded, "No one can unlock this at Demon King Castle, at least for now, I am the one who knows the light-type power best here."

Felix did not answer Lin Lin’s obvious question.

He lowered his head and fell silent for a while.

Felix clearly understood that Lin Lin was right, but if Lin Lin really entered the sanctuary, it would be a place that no one in Demon King Castle could enter.

In fact, San Marco City itself is already a human city that is hard for other races to enter.

For Lin Lin, entering the sanctuary was just one part of solving the problem, but for them, it felt like they were about to lose her.

If one day Lin Lin really decided to leave Demon King Castle, there would be very little they could do.

Lin Lin did not realize what was troubling Felix; she stepped closer to the Dark Elf, signaling him not to ignore that there was still a living person right in front of them.

The Dark Elf’s hand landed on her shoulder.

Lin Lin looked up and saw Felix’s lowered eyes.

"What if," the Dark Elf said, "I knock you out here and then take you back to the Demon King Castle?"

"That sounds terrible," Lin Lin replied without hesitation; she did not agree with this plan.

The two looked at each other, and Lin Lin was not afraid of the Dark Elf at this moment, as he had said, making this choice.

"If the guys at the Demon King Castle were here, they would definitely agree with this plan," Felix muttered softly.

Unlike his easy tone, the hand on Lin Lin’s shoulder tightened slightly and then relaxed, as he spoke quietly to her.

Their heads came very close together, as if someone might be spying on their secrets in this heavy snowfall.

Felix said, "Just pretend I didn’t find you."

Lin Lin’s dark eyes flashed.

"I won’t tell Your Majesty the Demon King where you are going, so I can buy some time. You better use this time to unlock that unfortunate collar and return to the Demon King Castle." The Dark Elf quickly spoke these words, looking much calmer after making his decision.

"If you are not planning to return to the Demon King Castle…" Felix began.

"I will go back!" Lin Lin emphasized.

"No, no, I’m not asking you to promise anything," Felix shook his head, "The Dark Elf does not believe promises, and I have no right to control your actions."

"If you are not planning to return to the Demon King Castle," the Dark Elf spoke, reaching out to touch Lin Lin’s cool face amidst the snow, bringing their heads close together, "then never leave San Marco City, we will find you."

Felix’s silver eyes stared at Lin Lin’s face, he was very serious about this matter.

Warm breaths intertwined in the air, Lin Lin’s eyes widened slightly.

"We" is obviously implied.

Lin Lin was not sure what she heard; she looked at Felix’s expression and saw the calmness in the Dark Elf’s eyes.

The two were very close, and Lin Lin smelled a faint scent of blood on Felix; he must have masked his smell to hide in dark corners.

According to Felix, Dark Elves are sneaky, cold, stingy, and suspicious.

Then, from her point of view, he stood in front of her, showing her a direction that was completely opposite to his side.

He said something very remarkable, Lin Lin thought.

"Felix," Lin Lin said his name.

The Dark Elf grunted in response.

Perhaps it was a trait of his kind; the young man looked darker and more fierce when he was silent, but when he leaned in closer, his danger seemed to fade away.

"I won’t stay in San Marco City, just like I won’t only stay inside Demon King Castle," Lin Lin said.

"No one can trap me."

–

He said something that sounded a bit showy.

Lin Lin wondered what Felix would think if he knew that her real reason for going out was to escape the year-end accounting and to see the true handsome guys that Mage David had promised.

Felix might really knock her out and take her straight back to Demon King Castle.

Feeling guilty, it truly makes one feel uneasy.

Lin Lin tucked her hands into the sleeves of her cloak and returned to the knight’s resting area, where she could see the Moon Elf still playing the piano from a distance.

The wind and snow did not seem to affect the Moon Elf at all; he felt no cold, and it even made him look more ethereal. Lin Lin couldn’t imagine how beautiful the scene would be if the elf stood in the snowy forest.

Royvald was on the main path.

Lin Lin slowly closed her eyes, fearing what might come.

Given the strong dislike between the Dark Elf and the Moon Elf, Lin Lin suspected that Royvald could already smell the Dark Elf scent on her.

Indeed, even though Lin Lin did not speed up or slow down her pace, trying to look just like usual, the Moon Elf’s music gradually stopped.

As Lin Lin passed by Royvald, he finished the last note, and his vibrant green eyes gazed at her.

"Hi?" Lin Lin greeted him, pretending to be unaware as she continued walking forward.

"Who is he?" the Moon Elf asked.

"Hmm?" Lin Lin showed a puzzled expression, ready to share her planned story about being robbed by a Dark Elf.

"Your brother, friend, or even… lover?" Clearly, the last guess made Royvald uncomfortable, and his brow tightened. "If a Dark Elf has seduced you, that is truly their specialty."

Lin Lin replied, "You don’t know what you’re talking about, I today…"

"The Dark Elf’s robbery and theft take no more than three seconds; he leaves no marks on your face, neck, or hands," the Moon Elf spoke calmly, "The most important point is that you look unharmed; he did not hurt you."

Good, the prepared excuse was completely useless, and it was seen through before it was even said!

Lin Lin paused.

The Moon Elf usually had a peaceful and indifferent expression; he did not seem proud, but there was a slight chill of distance.

When the topic related to his underground companions came up, he showed a clear reluctance.

Humans were liked by the Moon Elf, while Dark Elves were disliked; this complex feeling was strange and very hard for him to handle.

Royvald hoped Lin Lin could get back on track to make this issue clear and simple.

Lin Lin noticed the Moon Elf’s tension.

She suddenly realized that maybe she could try giving him the worst possible outcome.

Lin Lin reached out and held the Moon Elf’s hands, which had stopped playing.

Her hands still carried the scent of the Dark Elf; Royvald clearly shivered, but he could not shake off Lin Lin’s grip in time and lost this chance.

"I do have a Dark Elf lover, but we have broken up because he was very angry when I joined the side of light," Lin Lin said sincerely, "Can you keep this a secret for me?"

Royvald knew well that his underground cousin had a terrible personality; they would not just let each other end a relationship.

This meant that the Dark Elf had not given up on this girl yet.

If she lost the protection of the knight order, she would fall into a very bad situation.

Lin Lin thought: Good, now it is he who is troubled by moral dilemmas.
