Chapter 111: Oh My

It was unexpected for Lin Lin; the knight group really decided to walk.

After Lin Lin explained why they didn’t just use the teleportation array to reach their destination, Norman showed a slightly awkward expression.

"Miss Witch," Norman never called Lin Lin that before, but sometimes he would remind her of this identity, "Please try to forget some of the methods from the dark areas, to avoid misunderstandings."

Wow, in this world, relying on walking or riding a horse is the norm, and it’s hard for Lin Lin, who is used to high-tech conveniences, to understand this insistence.

Even though Norman advised Lin Lin this way, he still made adjustments to the route to get them back to San Marco City sooner.

Lin Lin and Caligo became part of the knight group.

The Knight Commander was very willing to let Lin Lin take part in the creature-clearing work and generously lent her his fire magic, while he handled the physical tasks.

Caligo was responsible for making potions in the group and gathering herbs.

Knowing it would take some time to lift the restrictions of the collar, Caligo secretly made a weaker potion for Lin Lin using the herbs he had, to maintain her current state, so she wouldn’t suddenly grow up one day.

David’s ideas about education were completely different from Norman’s. He believed that going to battle was too dangerous for underage children, especially girls.

"Last time it was a mutated ice lizard dragon, and this time it’s a forest magic bear!" David argued with Norman, "She’s too young. Don’t think I haven’t noticed! You’re not bringing a little girl; you’re treating her like your assistant!"

David was angry about his recklessness.

"Oh my," the Knight Commander said with a pair of bright blue eyes, "It’s a person without a sister speaking."

David began to think about how to bury the Knight Commander in the ground.

Then, he saw Lin Lin joyfully chasing a little magical creature with her magic wand. David started to reflect on himself.

It was quite strange; besides the magical creatures corrupted by chaos, Lin Lin was actually quite liked by ordinary magical creatures.

Places like forests or lakes, which are sparse in population but have good ecosystems, naturally give birth to magical creatures. However, they are not very aggressive, and they are not much different from ordinary animals, causing no harm to other races, so the knight order does not specially drive them away.

Sometimes, one or two little creatures that haven’t fully developed yet would wander into the knights’ resting area and pick up the leftover food to eat.

For humans, it is leftover scraps, but for the creatures, it is a delicacy they have never tasted before.

While Lin Lin was eating her sandwich, she felt a cold sensation on her ankle as a water slime stuck to her calf, trying to catch the breadcrumbs that fell.

Lin Lin: …Such a familiar creature.

When she was at the Demon King Castle, these small creatures, the lowest rank and the most numerous, always followed at her feet.

She left a piece of her sandwich for the slime because there were several lava areas inside the Demon King Castle, and water slimes were quite rare there.

Lin Lin picked up the water slime and placed it on her knee.

The water slime happily swallowed the sandwich left for it and began to digest.

Norman found this scene very interesting; although small creatures do not harm humans, people still seldom want to interact with them.

Similarly, the monsters seem to be naturally cautious of humans and rarely approach people on their own.

Norman set down his longsword, took off his white gloves, walked over to the girl, and reached out to touch the water slime.

Inside the slime’s body floated half-digested sandwiches, and at the moment Norman reached out, a dent appeared in the middle of the slime’s body, avoiding Norman’s touch.

The slime disliked him.

The Knight Commander paused for a few seconds, revealed a bright smile, and firmly placed his hand on the slime.

Unlike the fresh and clean side next to Lin Lin, the area touched by Norman released slime, sticking to the Knight Commander’s hand.

Norman: …

The slime jumped off Lin Lin’s lap and rolled into another part of the lake.

Norman stared at his hand; the area touched by the slime was already red and swollen.

"It’s toxic slime," Caligo, who had been quiet, said, "but it’s not very harmful. You can just wash your hands in the lake water."

Was Norman really the kind of person who couldn’t keep his hands to himself? Lin Lin had mixed feelings.

She understood why Sharon said her brother had a bad reputation at school; he seemed like the kind of person who would use his bright smile to play with cats and dogs.

But honestly, if you only looked at Norman’s face, you would think he was a very reliable, mature knight.

Even now, as he carefully washed the slime off his hands, it didn’t look like he was being punished for being careless. It seemed more like a brief rest after a battle.

A gentle breeze brushed across the young man’s handsome face. Lin Lin couldn’t help but admire this knight blessed by the God of Light, "It’s amazing. When I look at you, I can even hear music."

As if to accompany this peaceful scene, a soft, classical melody floated into her ears.

The main character of this beautiful scene turned to Lin Lin and replied, "Because there really is music."

Lin Lin: ?

Lin Lin looked in another direction and saw a profile.

A young man held a lute in his arms, and the music was beautiful.

Both the elf’s pointed ears and his enchanting face that seemed to glow were very familiar.

Lin Lin swore she was not someone who only cared about looks; after all, she preferred handsome human men. But there are always exceptions, and if a face is strikingly beautiful, she would remember it.

Moon Elf Royvald.

This elf was the one who gave her a gift, and Felix remembered it for a long time. Even that Dark Elf would occasionally mention this fair-skinned elf, reminding Lin Lin that High Elves live a long time, and what she saw was possibly an elderly person.

Lin Lin remembered that when she said goodbye to this elf, Royvald said he was going to San Marco City to deliver gifts to the sanctuary, and clearly, he had traveled a long way to get there.

Elves are beings favored by the Creator, blessed with beauty and life, earning the respect and affection of other creatures. Even the wary Paladin group, when faced with an elf, would first respond with kindness.

Lin Lin remembered that Royvald was a Moon Elf very interested in humans. She wondered if he had deepened his understanding of them since then.

The handsome elf walked towards the lake.

Lin Lin and Norman were both there.

When the elf’s forest-green eyes looked at her, Lin Lin felt a sense of nervousness.

Why was Royvald staring at her?! That guy couldn’t recognize them from before, could he?

The worst-case scenario was that everyone moved aside for the elf because they thought the Moon Elf was looking for a chance to talk to Norman.

But the elf was focused on Lin Lin, who was sitting on a wooden stump.

Moon Elf Royvald bent down and reached out his hand to Lin Lin.

Caligo pulled out his dagger, while David put his dagger away.

The elf softly spoke, his voice as gentle as the wind, "For the song you just heard, ten gold coins."

Lin Lin: …

Suddenly, Lin Lin felt that she had no desires for the handsome men in this world. In this world filled with imperfect personalities, her heart was calm like still water.

Lin Lin said, "Your song is not worth ten gold coins."

Clearly, the Moon Elf was not used to such a direct and harsh accusation; Royvald paused for two seconds to think.

Then, the elf reached out to lift Lin Lin’s chin, making her look up at him. "Can you take another look at my face?"

Most of the time, even if Royvald’s requests were a bit bold, they were always met because he was really good-looking, and he knew that girls liked his appearance, which also strengthened his group of clients.

This was also the reason he glanced past the knights and focused on Lin Lin in the end.

Although Lin Lin seemed a bit younger, she was a woman.

After Royvald lifted Lin Lin’s chin, David pulled out the dagger for Caligo.

David said, "Come on, we are the Knights’ order, and knights cannot attack first."

Unlike the nervousness of the people around her, Lin Lin looked very calm.

"Are you very poor?" Lin Lin remembered that the last time Royvald appeared, he looked quite wealthy.

"Well," the Moon Elf replied, "I was ambushed by a Dark Elf."

When Lin Lin heard Royvald’s answer, Felix’s face appeared in her mind.

Lin Lin told herself that Dark Elves and Moon Elves were not on good terms, so perhaps Royvald just had bad luck with another mean Dark Elf.

Even though she tried to convince herself, Lin Lin couldn’t help but feel guilty, hoping that Royvald didn’t get robbed just because he gave her a gift.

But thinking carefully, if it was Felix behind it, given that guy’s dangerous nature, it wouldn’t just be simple theft.

Maybe it really wasn’t Felix!

Lin Lin couldn’t help but ask, "Did he only steal something? I thought Dark Elves were usually very dangerous?"

Caligo didn’t understand why Lin Lin was so interested in Royvald’s story, so the young boy quietly put away his dagger.

"Not exactly," Royvald said, pointing to his neck. His expression remained calm, giving him an otherworldly aura. "He originally wanted to cut my throat and ruin my face."

Oh, it’s Felix.
