Chapter 49: The Answer Is To Never Be Separated
“Why did we end up separated?”
Iris’ smiling face instantly turned stern and cold, prompting Naya to quickly retract her words.
“It was just a hypothetical thought. We’ll always be together. Now, hurry and finish eating—Illya is still waiting for us.”
“Ah…”
Iris opened her mouth, waiting for Naya to feed her.
She really was becoming more and more childlike.
After Iris finished the last sandwich, Naya tidied up the kitchen, preparing to return to Iris’ palace to be with Illya.
Suddenly, a warmth enveloped her from behind.
A breath laced with the scent of cream brushed her cheek as Iris kissed her earlobe and then turned her around.
With no resistance, Naya’s defenses were completely broken.
“Mmm… ah… not here, please.”
Naya grabbed Iris’ hand.
How did this lusty dragon manage to get frisky at every opportunity? She was never like this before.
“Starting today, live with me in the royal palace, will you? I’ll make sure every dragon there knows you’re my Queen.”
“Okay.”
Naya bit her lip, gently playing with Iris’ fingers.
“This should’ve happened a long time ago.”
“This kitchen will be our private one from now on. The maids and chefs can find a new one if they want to use it.”
Iris leaned her head against Naya’s neck, but Naya forcefully pushed her away, removing her hand from under her skirt as well.
“Stop it, will you? We just did it last night, and Illya is waiting for us.”
“Fine.”
Giving up her teasing, Iris took Naya’s hand and led her out of the kitchen.
As Iris got to know Naya better, as she touched her little by little, she realized that after regaining her memories, Naya had fully accepted her identity as a dragon.
She naturally enjoyed their intimacy, willingly sharing a dragon’s dance of passion with her, even when they rubbed together in their draconic forms. Not once did she show any resistance.
However, did Naya still have the ability to revert to her human form? Naya never said, and Iris never dared to ask.
Was it that Naya didn’t want to change, or was this transformation irreversible?
It remained a mystery to be solved.
But she believed in Naya’s sincerity.
…
“Ah, the former Hero, you’re finally awake?”
When the Hero Zelan opened his eyes, the first thing that caught his eyes was a yellow magic crystal lamp.
After waking from a long slumber, his groggy eyes were especially sensitive to light.
Then he recalled that someone had just spoken to him.
It seemed like this was an underground cavern.
The magic crystal lamp was hung on a stone wall, and there were dirt floors, walls, and mud everywhere.
His perspective had gotten higher.
He remembered turning into a dragon before he blacked out.
Lowering his gaze, he saw a purple-haired dragon before him, whose eyes glinted with amusement and disdain.
In his peripheral vision, he saw his body covered in black scales, terrifying dragon scale patterns covered his entire body.
[System, can you tell me what’s going on right now?]
[Unfortunately, host, you’ve turned into a dragon, but please stay calm—there’s still a way to reverse this.]
“I… I’ve become a dragon…”
The black dragon let out a low growl.
His pitch-black vertical pupils were filled with disbelief.
“Yes, you’ve become a dragon. Once a human boy, once a hero, but now, you’re a genuine dragon—a black dragon.”
Zelan’s limbs were shackled by iron chains that emerged from the ground. He moved his body slightly, noticing a large circular magic rune beneath him.
[This is a dragon-binding curse. Apologies, the System isn’t familiar with dragon magic structures, so it can’t lift the control spell for now.]
[Leo is quite knowledgeable about dragon magic. He might be able to help.]
Seeing that this black dragon wasn’t as frantic as she’d expected, Viltia frowned slightly.
“You seem pretty calm. Are you thinking about a way to escape? Now that you’ve turned into this, even if you run, where would you go? Do you think humans would accept you?”
“I became a Hero not because I sought acceptance. As long as I can slay the Dragon King, even if it costs my life and reputation, I will have no regrets.”
Hearing the black dragon’s desire to kill the Dragon King, Viltia’s anger flared. She raised her hand and threw a punch into the air.
After a brief delay.
Boom!!!
A violent explosion erupted just below the black dragon’s jaw.
The upper half of Zelan’s body was lifted high into the air, but the chains yanked him down. His chin crashed into the ground, his teeth clattering painfully together. Zelan felt like his head was going to split open.
Viltia snorted coldly, glaring at the black dragon.
“If it weren’t for the fact that you’re valuable for experiments, you wouldn’t still be alive. Boy, I’ll give you a few days to think this over. Either you join the dragons and work for us, or you’ll face eternal torment here. I’ll come check on you every day. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”
Zelan, enduring the sharp pain in his almost-shattered jaw, lifted his head and, with the absolute height advantage of his dragon form, gazed down at Viltia.
His eyes carried the proud disdain that dragons often held toward humans, and he directed it at her as well.
“I will not yield.”
“Kneel before me!”
Viltia raised her hand again. Thick chains as wide as arms surged from the magic circle, clattering as they wrapped tightly around the black dragon’s neck.
The chains retracted into the ground, forcing the black dragon’s head down until he was eye-level with Viltia in her humanoid form.
“Listen, defeated Hero. You’re no longer human. You’re a dragon now. This transformation is irreversible, so stop hoping to turn back. Your abilities are important to us—that’s your only leverage for regaining freedom.”
“What abilities?”
“The ability that led you here, your unique sensitivity to leyline energy.”
Could she mean… the System?
Zelan silently stared at Viltia.
From what he could gather, she didn’t seem to know exactly what his special ability was, only its general function.
How did this purple-haired dragon know he had such an ability?
Could someone have betrayed the System and informed the dragons?
“I’m giving you time to think this through. I’ll come to see you every day. In the meantime, take a good look at yourself.”
Viltia snapped her fingers, and the chains binding Zelan loosened.
Mirrors suddenly rose around him, reflecting his dragon form from every angle—front, sides, and back. Zelan could see everything clearly.
With a final cold glance at Zelan, Viltia left the cave, leaving him to examine his draconic body.
“Disgusting… these dragon scales.”
Zelan closed his eyes, trying hard to avoid looking at the symbol of everything humans despised.
[System, can you contact Leo? He should still be alive, right?]
During a treasure hunt, he and Leo had found an artifact that allowed for long-distance communication. By placing it in the system’s interdimensional storage, they could pull it out anytime to establish a mental link and communicate via thought.
[Connecting to Leo… connection successful.]
It actually worked! Zelan eagerly sent his thoughts to the other side.
[Hey? Leo, it’s me, Zelan.]
[Zelan? You’re alive?!]
Hearing the familiar voice in his mind, Zelan’s eyes welled up with emotion as he struggled to contain his excitement, he saw the glimmer of hope.
The wizard Of SILVER
Huh? He’s not angry about being betrayed?
