Chapter 40
Chapter 40: Born As A Dragon, I Am Very Happy
Naya felt like she had fallen completely into dragonhood.
She had just had a delightful dragon dance with Iris in her dragon form.
And it was out in the wild!
How utterly embarrassing!
Forget about being human, let it all just end.
In the past, when Naya read novels or watched anime, the protagonists always seemed very concerned about being human. They held steadfast to their identities as righteous knights, fighting for humanity.
But Naya realized that she wasn’t like them. When she felt joy in being a dragon, she could toss aside everything else.
Being born a dragon made her happy.
No.
Naya had never cared about her physical form as long as she was happy and had her loved ones by her side.
So, whether she was a dragon or not didn’t matter at all. What mattered most was whether Iris loved her form.
As a sharp dragon roar pierced the sky, Naya lay half-dazed on the ground, her body glistening with water droplets, as if she had just emerged from the sea, looking utterly worn out.
“Are you tired?”
“Yeah.”
Naya could hardly move anymore.
Though she didn’t technically need to get up, this was her first time transforming into a dragon, and it had been so intense that she was struggling to cope.
The sheer size of a dragon made movement difficult, it was almost three times as exhausting as dancing with Iris in her human form.
She lay on the ground, transforming back into her human form.
Iris reached out her forelimbs and caught Naya.
Just like that, they flew back to the castle, and Iris transformed back into her human form, cradling Naya in a princess carry as she walked toward the castle entrance.
The doors were wide open, and Bella and Nitiya were standing at the entrance.
“Your Majesty.”
“Your Majesty.”
The two maids lowered their heads to greet Iris, trying their best not to look at the beautiful and alluring Naya in her arms.
Their clothes were dirty and disheveled, and their expressions were dazed, with unknown liquids smeared on their bodies.
It was clear that her Majesty the Queen and Miss Naya had been having a wild time outside, dancing under the heavens, using the earth as their stage, enjoying the songs of insects and birds, and forgetting themselves in the performance.
Bella couldn’t help but worry.
Miss Naya was being taken advantage of by the Queen every day, she wondered if she could handle it.
“Close the door. You can go to bed now.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
With that, Iris carried Naya to the bathroom.
After rolling around outside for so long, they were covered in mud and needed to clean up.
Naya, feeling weak and listless, allowed Iris to wash her all over. At that moment, she had no strength left to feel embarrassed and could only obediently let Iris help her bathe.
At this hour, it was basically the middle of the night, around midnight.
Naya soaked in the water as Iris’s hands brushed over every inch of her body.
Her eyes were half-open, and she drowsily spoke.
“Iris, do you think we’ll disturb the children?”
“What?”
“We do this every day, and I’m really worried it might affect their births.”
Besides, it was always so intense.
Naya couldn’t help but voice her inner concerns. The system had assured her it would protect the children, but how could she trust the system’s words?
“It won’t. Our children aren’t that fragile. Dragons aren’t like humans, we don’t easily break our waters or anything like that. Our dragon hatchlings are protected by eggs.”
“But isn’t it still too early for eggs?”
“Then there’s even less to worry about. I can’t just go in and break the children, can I? Don’t worry, I won’t touch that area.”
“Oh…”
Naya leaned back, falling into Iris’s embrace, resting against her comforting shoulder. Perhaps because of the earlier exertion, Naya’s demeanor and tone turned tender as she instinctively wanted to act spoiled around Iris.
“Iris, today Illya listened to my belly. She said I’m having twins.”
“Hmm?”
“Can you check for yourself to see if it’s true?”
Naya took Iris’s hand and pressed it against her belly.
“I want you to confirm it personally.”
Iris’s fingers circled around Naya’s stomach several times before she slowly spoke.
“It’s true.”
“Great! That means we’re having three children now.”
Finally, hearing the confirmation from the mother herself made Naya’s heart relax completely. She had learned everything she wanted to know. Closing her eyes, a happy smile spread across her face.
“Really, I’m so happy, Iris. Having two at once means our home will be lively, filled with your children. I can just watch them, listen to them call me ‘Mama’, and hear them refer to you as ‘Mother’…”
After saying this in a dreamy tone, Naya lost herself in her fantasies and fell asleep.
Iris held Naya close.
Bending down, she pressed her cheek against Naya’s and remained silent for a long time.
She gazed at Naya’s tilted head, taking in her gentle and beautiful face—the beauty seemed to make the world stand still.
Iris sighed deeply.
She carefully lifted Naya out of the bath, sitting her on the edge of the tub, patiently and gently drying her off.
Finally, she focused on Naya’s smooth, warm thighs.
Her gaze shifted to Naya’s flat belly.
“I’m sorry, Naya. I can’t tell you this, but yes, it’s two children. However, there is one thing that’s special about it. Will you forgive me when the time comes?”
Iris gently kissed Naya’s belly button.
Then, using magic, she dried Naya’s hair, lifted her back into the room, and lay down together under the covers.
The next day, Naya woke up.
The person beside her was gone.
Turning to look out the window, the dawn light was dim; it was still early.
Iris had such energy; they had fought late into the night, and yet she woke up so early today.
Naya sat up, her eyes still bleary with sleep.
It’s probably not time for Illya to get up yet, so I’ll just be in a daze for a while.
[Good morning, System.]
[Good morning, Host.]
[You’re still here? I thought you were invited for tea by the Lord God.]
[No.]
[Then why didn’t you talk yesterday?]
[I was angry.]
Shocked!
The System can have emotions too? Naya swallowed nervously.
[Really?]
[By the way, just to let you know, you’re a bronze-level Dragon.]
[What?!]
[So don’t even think about peeling your own dragon scales.]
[Am I that weak? If I’m this weak, will it affect my children? If I’m this weak, will Illya be demoted?]
[You’re just at the bronze level! As long as you work hard to train, you can still reach the golden level! Also, it’s not recommended to use your own scales, the higher the dragon’s level, the more powerful the attributes of the Holy Spear.]
Naya widened her eyes.
[You don’t want me to peel Iris’s scales, do you?!]
[I didn’t say you should peel them. I just wanted to give you a heads-up. What you do is up to you.]
[Hmph! How naive! System, you want me to do something detrimental to Iris, don’t you? I won’t listen to your schemes!]
[Then don’t repair the Holy Spear.]
[……]
Is it really true that the higher the dragon’s level, the stronger the attributes of the repaired Holy Spear?
Suddenly, the door swung open, and a flash of red entered the room, a faint smile gracing her face.
“Good morning, Naya.”
As soon as Naya saw Iris, her eyes lit up.
“Iris! I thought you went to work!”
“No. I plan to wait until Illya wakes up before we all head to the palace. Didn’t I say yesterday that I’d take you to see a play? We need to prepare well for that.”
