Chapter 47: Naya Is Delicious
Iris let go of Naya.
After all, they were still cooking, and if she kept holding on, the meat would get burnt.
While Naya continued to stir the food in the wok, she began to answer Iris’s questions.
“First, regarding seeing something similar happen to someone else, my only concern is… that I might no longer be so special to you. After all, I’m one of the rare cases of a human turning into a dragon, right?”
“Mmm… very rare.”
Iris nodded. For at least a thousand years, humans turning into dragons had been an extremely rare occurrence.
“But when I think about it, my rational side tells me my worry is completely unnecessary because I know you, Iris. You’re not the kind of person who would like me any less just because I’m no longer that unique.”
“Of course I wouldn’t.”
How did this turn into Naya pouring out her love and pleading for her affection? This wasn’t the answer Iris had envisioned, so she tried to steer Naya back to the right direction.
“Naya, don’t you remember the time I humiliated you, stepping on you? I want to know if you’re holding a grudge over those painful memories.”
The meat was ready!
She set it aside in a magical oven to keep it warm and add oil to reheated the wok.
While waiting for the oil to heat up, Naya turned around, looking at Iris in confusion.
“Humiliated me?”
“Yes.”
Seeing the question in Naya’s eyes, Iris felt her own confusion rise.
Could it be that, for Naya, it didn’t count as humiliation?
“Well… not really. I mean, I lost to you, so being stepped on was only natural.”
Besides, when she thought about Iris’s delicate feet, Naya even felt a bit excited, secretly wishing to be stepped on again.
Naya’s frankness made Iris breathe a sigh of relief.
She could guess what Naya might have been thinking during her memory loss, but after regaining her memories, Naya had become a bit more unpredictable.
But one thing was certain—Naya’s feelings from the past five years hadn’t faded or disappeared.
“Iris, do you think I’d ask you to apologize for something like that?”
“Even if you don’t, I still want to apologize.”
“Apologize? There’s no need for that. You’re a Queen, after all. Why would you need to apologize to me? You’re the ruler of the dragon race, the Heavenly Dragon! And I’m just a ordinary dragon who used to be a human, not even above Bronze level in strength.”
Naya thought Iris was making a big deal out of it.
Not to mention, being stepped on by Iris’s feet was incredibly enjoyable. Besides, it’s not unreasonable for the victor to humiliate the defeated, right?
Iris walked over to Naya and took her hand.
It still carried the aroma of the grilled meat.
“Why should I be arrogant in front of you? Naya, I want us to stand on equal ground. We should respect each other.”
“Iris, sometimes you act…”
Like someone from Earth.
Naya smiled slightly.
Iris tilted her head in confusion.
“Hmm?”
Only people from Earth would talk about mutual respect between partners. In this world, typically one person is dominant, and the other just lets themselves be controlled.
This world is all about the strong devouring the weak. The strong can dominate the weak, no questions asked.
“Not like a Queen.”
Iris smiled too, lifting Naya’s hand to her nose.
She inhaled the delicious scent of grilled meat from Naya’s fingers, along with Naya’s natural fragrance.
Opening her mouth, she gently kissed Naya’s hand.
Then, she bit down lightly, her soft, moist tongue grazing Naya’s fingertips, the rich flavor of the meat spreading across her taste buds.
She looked up at Naya, and as expected, her adorable wife’s eyes widened in shock.
Iris’s pale, delicate fingers traced Naya’s skin, glistening with a dewy shine.
“Yes, Naya, I’ve become a slave to your love.”
Oh no.
What nonsense was Iris spouting?
How could a Queen of the dragon race say something like that?
If this continued, Naya wouldn’t be able to focus on cooking anymore.
Watching Iris nibble on her fingers, feeling the inexplicable moist sensation in her hand, Naya’s legs started to feel weak.
Luckily, Iris stopped her playful behavior in time, and Naya quickly wiped her hands clean with a cloth.
“So, can we move on to the next question, my dear wife?”
“The next question… what was it again…”
“The energy you and the black-haired hero both have—what exactly is it?”
“It’s… it’s a very mysterious power that comes from…”
[Host! Calm down!]
The System’s sudden shout snapped Naya out of her emotionally charged state. Her mouth twitched as she awkwardly explained.
“I-I don’t have any energy. What are you talking about, Iris?”
The System was speechless.
How was this any different from a confession?
At least come up with a decent excuse to cover it up!
She just said the power came from something, then immediately denied it. Isn’t that like outright admitting it?
“Alright, no energy then.”
Iris responded affectionately, wrapping her arm around Naya’s waist, the pressure from her chest pushing in closely.
The warmth from the stove heightened the intimacy in the air.
Iris would never forced Naya to reveal secrets she wasn’t ready to share.
“But right now, I really need to replenish my ‘Naya energy’. Can I have you for lunch instead?”
“No, no! This is the kitchen!”
Naya pressed against Iris’s shoulders, resisting the romantic atmosphere Iris had created this time.
“True.”
Iris didn’t push further. She released Naya and picked up the plate of meat Naya had just cooked, cutting into it and eating right away.
“It’s still the best when you make it.”
Seeing the satisfied expression on Iris’s face, Naya thought she was exaggerating just to make her happy. But even knowing Iris’s reaction was over the top, Naya couldn’t help but feel joyful.
“It’s just regular meat. Is it really that good?”
“Of course! Once I’ve tasted Naya’s flavor, I can’t forget it. The tender, juicy meat, smooth and soft, absolutely divine.”
Iris poked the grilled meat with her finger, deliberately licking her lips, which made Naya’s mind wander.
Her cheeks flushed as she turned away, not daring to look at the ever-flirtatious dragon queen. She busied herself with cooking the next dish. One plate of grilled meat certainly wouldn’t be enough for Iris.
Next up, fried potatoes.
Because of the earlier flirting, the oil in the wok had already overheated. Naya carefully placed the potato strips into the frying pan with tongs.
Oh, right. She still had a question she hadn’t asked.
Did Iris still remember Leo?
Was she aware that Leo would bring his foolish companion to challenge her? Was that why she let her watch history repeat itself?
As for the teammate who abandoned her without hesitation, Naya would recognize him even if he turned to ash.
Even though she was doing fine now, much happier than when she was a Hero, the sting of betrayal lingered.
She also believed that Leo indirectly caused her previous System’s death. If Leo hadn’t suggested the idea of challenging the Dragon King, she wouldn’t have gone to her early demise.
“Good buddy, I’ve got your back!”
Leo had slapped her shoulder with such righteous fervor before they set out to challenge Iris.
And she had trusted Leo’s spatial teleportation magic, believing he would guard her back.
But in the end, what did Leo protect?
Lowering her head, she lifted the fried potatoes from the oil.
“Iris, do you recognize the blond Hero who came with the black-haired one to challenge you?”
