Chapter 4: Do We Really Want To Get Rid Of It?
Although she had not forgotten the time spent with Iris over the past five years, the overwhelming memories of her previous life and five years of living in another world flooded her mind. Compared to over twenty years of her past and present combined, these mere five years with Iris seemed so insignificant.
However, no matter how small, the impact was still there. Naya didn’t know what stance she should take when facing Iris.
No matter what mindset she adopted to deal with Iris, Naya felt extremely awkward.
Nervously, she brought the clothes to Iris’s side. Glancing at Iris’s graceful figure out of the corner of her eye, Naya’s heartbeat quickened uncontrollably.
When she saw Iris’s naked body, she couldn’t help but recall countless passionate nights spent with Iris.
Sigh…
What’s wrong with me?
After regaining her memories, she felt neither like the hero she used to be nor like the amnesiac Naya.
In any case, she needed to quickly help Iris get dressed and stop these wild thoughts.
Iris lifted her leg.
Naya knelt in front of Iris, first helping her into her panties, followed by her bra.
Even though her mind found serving Iris an unacceptable task, her body’s memory was clear. Her hands moved habitually through each step.
It felt as though she had become a spectator, watching herself help Iris into a dark red outfit.
After Iris was fully dressed, she stretched her long legs in front of Naya. Naya placed Iris’s leg on her own lap, her fingertips feeling the smooth, jade-like texture of Iris’s calf.
As she slid the black stockings up Iris’s thighs, she noticed a faint indentation where the fabric gently pressed into her skin.
Throughout the entire process, Iris remained silent.
Naya was trembling with fear.
After dressing Iris, it was finally Naya’s turn. Their clothes were in the same wardrobe, but Naya could easily distinguish which ones belonged to Iris and which were hers, based on her memories.
Finally, she brushed and tied Iris’s hair.
Every step was executed with exceptional familiarity, yet Naya still felt uncomfortable.
It was an awkwardness born from the conflict between two different sets of memories.
“Naya, is something on your mind?”
“Huh? No, nothing.”
Naya gazed into the mirror, and Iris, reflected within it, was also watching her.
“Is there something you want? You can ask me for anything. Or, do you want me to spend more time with you? If you’re really feeling down, I can postpone today’s plans.”
“No, that’s not necessary. You should focus on your work. I’m just a bit tired. After you leave, I’ll take a nap.”
“Oh, by the way, about our child… Don’t you have anything to ask me?”
Iris was probing again, trying to figure out if Naya was upset about this matter.
She could sense that something had changed about Naya, but she couldn’t quite figure out what it was.
“I… don’t really understand how this is even possible. After all, we’re both women.”
“That’s the power of the Dragon Queen. I can do things ordinary people can’t.”
“So, how far along is the child?”
“Hmm… I’m not telling you.”
The Iris in the mirror smiled, while Naya’s face remained full of confusion.
Actually, measuring it in months wasn’t quite appropriate. The process for dragons was different from humans.
The birth of a dragon goes through two major stages.
First is the egg formation stage, which happens within the mother’s body.
After forming the egg, it’s laid, and then the egg is incubated. After hatching, the young dragon is guided by external influences to take human form.
The process of a dragon’s birth is far more complicated than that of a human baby.
But there are exceptions, like Illya.
“Once you’re in a better mood, I’ll tell you more.”
After tying up Iris’s hair, she stood up. She then turned, embraced Naya, and kissed her for quite a while before letting go.
Gently stroking Naya’s flushed face, Iris’s eyes showed a trace of reluctance.
“I’m leaving now. Take good care of Illya.”
“Mm…”
Often, once Iris got out of bed, she’d have to leave to attend to business.
She left Naya and IlIya behind in the castle, returning only in the evening.
Naya understood that, as the Dragon Queen, Iris had many affairs to handle.
Watching Iris leave the castle, Naya clutched her chest, feeling an inexplicable sadness.
It was as if she were a lonely wife watching her husband set off on an expedition. Yet, Iris would be back in just a day. Why was she feeling so reluctant?
What was going on?
Why was she feeling this way?
“Lady Naya, Her Majesty the Queen has left. Shall we close the doors?”
A maid beside her gently called out to Naya. Her mistress often stood dazed at the doorway like this.
Naya took a deep breath and nodded.
“Yes.”
Ever since three years ago, when Iris decided to officially crown her as queen consort, she was rarely allowed to leave this castle.
Of course, it wasn’t that she was forbidden from leaving, but she could only do so under Iris’s escort.
The maids in the castle were not only responsible for household chores but also for monitoring and protecting Naya and Illya.
There were three maids, each one a top-tier warrior of the dragon race, capable of both handling household tasks and fighting in battle.
In the past, Naya had no choice but to submit to them.
But things are different now. Naya had reawakened her system and regained her memories.
She wondered if she could still summon the holy spear “Lancer” and whether she could still use her previous attributes.
After the maid closed the castle doors, Naya went upstairs.
It wasn’t yet time for Illya to wake up.
Children always need a bit more sleep, so Naya still had time to return to her room and sort through her current situation.
Returning to her room, she sat on the bed. For now, her female body wasn’t the most pressing issue.
Naya rubbed her chin, calling out to the system in her mind.
[System, are you still there?]
[This system has always been here.]
[Analyze my body’s data for me, as well as any treasures I hold.]
[The host has transformed into a dragon. Compared to your previous human form, your physical capabilities have greatly improved. Other data remains unchanged. With the restoration of your memories, you still retain the skills you had as a hero. As for treasures, you only have the damaged holy spear “Lancer.”]
Have I lost all my other equipment?
It doesn’t matter. As long as the holy spear is still here, and my skills remain unchanged, I can still fight.
However, I’ve already been defeated once five years ago. I can’t challenge the Dragon Queen, Iris, right after regaining my memories.
I should hide the fact that my memories have returned, and then figure out a way to either escape or complete the final main mission of the system.
To kill the leader of the evil dragons, which means killing my own wife, the Red Dragon Queen, Iris.
Like in the typical hero-versus-dragon story, the ultimate goal is to slay the Dragon King, whether it’s to save a princess or uphold justice.
But right now, I’ve not only married the Final Boss, but we also have a child.
Continuing with this mission seems absurd and ridiculous.
[Host, don’t forget, just because you’ve lived as a dragon for a few years, doesn’t mean you should deny your identity as a human hero.]
“I’m not denying it…”
Naya raised her hand to ruffle her hair, inadvertently brushing against the dragon horns on her head. Her brows furrowed, and her eyes flashed with a complex and hesitant expression.
“But I’m in this state now, and I’m pregnant with Iris’s child. I, I…what should I do?”
[The egg hasn’t even formed yet. Just get rid of it.]
The system’s cold, mechanical voice echoed.
Even though it was a voice within her consciousness, Naya felt as if it was deafening.
Kzalca
I’m so glad Naya is genuinely reasonable. Like, yes! Don’t kill your wifey and kid! Meanwhile, the system is bejng sus af. Defo should get rid of it. I hope Iris discovers it soon.
Thanks for the chapter!
Shino
I started to really hate the system from the beginning of the story. At least Naya is smart and reasonable, unlike the heroes of other novels.

You realize he’s been brainwashed (while having amnesia) and raped right?
