Chapter 19: I Want Them All
After washing hands with Illya, Naya took Illya to her room.
Illya stretched out her arms, and Naya squatted in front of her, taking off all her clothes and changing them.
Meanwhile, Ilya was staring intently at Naya’s neck.
“Mama, are you feeling better now?”
“What do you mean, what’s wrong with my body?”
Illya looked at Naya with her big, curious eyes.
“This morning, Mother said you got stung by a bee and spent all last night detoxing, which is why you woke up so late today.”
Detox? That was way too much detox.
Naya raised her head and touched her neck, following Illya’s gaze.
“Uh… well, it’s much better now.”
Thinking about last night made Naya blush.
“Mama, I think you’ve been really beautiful these past two days.”
“Hm? Why do you say that?”
“Because when you’re with Mother, your face turns red, like a big peach! But you look so beautiful!”
“So, was I not beautiful before?”
“You’ve always been beautiful. Mama is the most beautiful dragon in the world.”
“More beautiful than Mother?”
“Of course! If Mother is like this,” Illya raised her pinky finger, “then you’re like this!” She raised her thumb.
Naya was overjoyed by Illya’s sweet compliment.
“You have such a sweet tongue, Illya.”
Maybe, one day, she could really trick a human princess into marrying her.
“Mama, I want to be Dragon King.”
“Why?”
Even though she had already asked why Illya wanted to be Dragon King yesterday, if Illya answered that she wanted to steal a princess, Naya would spank her right on the spot.
Especially since she hadn’t put Illya’s skirt on yet.
“Because if I’m Dragon King, you’ll be my wife.”
“Huh?”
Naya looked at Illya, dumbfounded.
“You’re Mother’s wife, and Mother is the Dragon King, so you’re the Dragon King’s wife. If I become Dragon King, wouldn’t that make you my wife?”
Could it be that Illya was truly a genius?
Naya was both amused and frustrated.
But it was just innocent child talk, so Naya didn’t scold her and instead asked,
“Then won’t you marry a human princess?”
“Of course, only kids make choices. I want it all.”
“Adults know that’s impossible.”
Joking as she spoke, Naya helped Illya put on a dress, a small pink one that made her look like a cute blooming jasmine flower.
After placing Illya on the bed, Naya picked up a pair of white knee-high socks and crouched down to help Illya change into clean ones.
Illya stared at Naya’s head, tempted to touch the silver-white dragon horns.
Illya was almost six, and her basic understanding of the world was forming. She thought Naya, who had always taken meticulous care of her, was very great, and she should repay her like the good children in the books.
So, after putting on her socks, Illya pulled Naya up and pushed her to sit on the bed.
“Mama, I’ll give you a back massage.”
Illya randomly patted Naya’s back.
Though it didn’t relax any muscles, her tiny fists fell like raindrops on Naya’s shoulders, making Naya’s heart feel as if it were bathing in the warm spring breeze, facing the sea, with flowers blooming all around.
Naya closed her eyes and thought about the past five years.
In her previous life, she had accomplished nothing.
She lived like a robot, going to work, coming home to the apartment she rented, and living her own life.
In her spare time, she played video games, occasionally diving into open-world 3A titles or all-platform anime games.
Sometimes, she would replay “Dragon Quest” from her childhood, imagining herself as a Hero in another world, living a life full of thrilling adventures.
She had never imagined herself getting married or having children.
She thought she would spend her life in that quiet fantasy until, one day on the way to work, a speeding truck hit her and transported her to another world.
Then, she gained a system and became a Hero.
What a classic opening!
Killing monsters, leveling up, getting stronger bit by bit, and then challenging even stronger foes.
The final boss was the Dragon King!
Humans ascending to godhood—a thrilling reward. After a life of routine, being reincarnated as a hero was all about adventure and pushing limits.
But fate had other plans, and in the blink of an eye, she had become the wife of the final boss.
“Whew, I’m tired. Mama, do you feel better?”
“I do.”
Naya turned around and hugged Illya, lowering her head to nuzzle the little one in her arms. Illya, tickled, grabbed Naya’s dragon horns, laughing.
“Hahaha, Mama, what are you doing?”
“Illya, Mama doesn’t want you to become Dragon King.”
With her face pressed against Illya’s chest, Naya couldn’t help but speak her mind.
“Why not?”
“Because if you become Dragon King, you’ll face so many dangers, just like your Mother. Every day, someone will try to kill you.”
Having been a hero herself, she knew that most heroes had a reckless drive, a craving for danger.
Heroes were like products on an assembly line, constantly trained and sent to give the Dragon King experience points.
But among them, there would always be a few exceptional heroes who could pose a threat to the Dragon King.
If she hadn’t been so careless, if she had listened to the system, taken her time to kill monsters and level up instead of going on adventures with Leo and challenging Iris, she might not have ended up in her current situation.
“Then I’ll just kill them all.”
“You make it sound so easy.”
Do you even know what the Dragon King has to face?
It’s an existence from beyond the world, empowered by the ancient gods, with a system that turns people into merciless task machines.
“Mama, don’t be scared. I’m really strong. Nitya said I’m the child of both you and Mother, so I can have the strongest defense and the strongest attack. One day, I’ll be the strongest Dragon King in the world, and no one will be able to kill me.”
“Sigh…”
Naya lifted her head, still full of worry.
She hugged Illya.
Thinking back on the past five years she had spent with Illya, it felt like the time had passed in the blink of an eye, too quickly.
She didn’t want Illya to face danger, but more importantly, she didn’t want Illya to leave her. She wanted Illya to always live a peaceful and happy life with her, free of worries.
She didn’t care about heroes or Dragon Kings anymore.
She could say that if Illya hadn’t been born and if she didn’t have a child in her belly, she might have listened to the system and betrayed Iris.
But now, she has a child.
This was the motherly instinct in her genes—she couldn’t let go of it all.
For her family, for her child, she could give up all the pursuits she once held dear, give up all the dreams that once shone so brightly in her mind.
“Mama, you’re overthinking it!” Illya raised her hand to smooth the wrinkles on Naya’s forehead.
“Mother told me this morning that she’s planning a trip! I’ll go with her, and bit by bit, I’ll become stronger. Mother will teach me, hand in hand, how to be an excellent Dragon King.”
“A trip?”
Illya’s eyes sparkled, and she nodded repeatedly.
“Yes! Wait… no, I promised Mother I’d keep it a secret.”
Illya covered her mouth. She really was a little blabbermouth.
“Illya, are you excited?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Naya stroked Illya’s pink hair, showing a helpless smile.
Well, of course.
Children are naturally playful, and Illya had rarely seen the outside world, so naturally, she’d be excited about it.
Only someone as experienced as Naya would know how dangerous the world truly is.
[System, just as you said, six years old is a turning point for dragons.]
So that’s why Iris was planning a trip at this time, to slowly introduce Ilya to the outside world and connect her with it.
The wizard Of SILVER
May Ilya always be happy and protect her two mothers
