Chapter 107
Chapter 107: I Conquered The Dragon Queen
The reason Iris was angry was precisely because of Illya’s innocent remarks. Illya’s uninhibited words reflected her truest thoughts, which stemmed from Naya’s overindulgence.
“Iris, she’s just a child. You don’t need to be so upset over something she said thoughtlessly, do you?”
Yet this woman still hadn’t realized her own mistake.
Iris hooked her arm around Naya, pulling her into an embrace.
“Look at you. You have the nerve to lecture me? Just look at how spoiled Illya is because of you! You’re my wife, not hers. She said something like that, and you didn’t even give her a spanking. How will she ever learn?”
Iris trusted Naya’s love for her and knew there wouldn’t be any situation where the daughter would replace the wife. But Naya’s overindulgence in Illya’s behavior could eventually lead the child down the wrong path.
“I know, I’ll discipline her better from now on. Illya’s not even six years old yet. You’re over a hundred years old—why are you so caught up in this? There’s plenty of time to correct her thinking in the future, isn’t there? She doesn’t even understand love yet, so why be jealous of a child who doesn’t have a fully formed worldview? Calm down. Don’t let the bond you’ve finally built with her over the past two years be ruined.”
Naya gently patted Iris’s shoulder.
It wasn’t until Iris had truly accepted them as a family that her relationship with Illya started to improve. Before that, Iris had largely ignored Illya. If it weren’t for Illya calling her “Mother”, she probably would have been closer to Flamna and Bella than Iris.
“I think you need some education yourself. What kind of future Dragon King are you raising?”
Iris sighed with both frustration and affection as she bent down to peck Naya’s forehead.
“Illya’s not even six years old yet. Why are you in such a rush? You’re not retiring in the next hundred years anyway, so she has plenty of time to grow. Even human rulers, with their short lifespans, get to have a full childhood. What’s wrong with me spoiling Illya a little? She’s still a child.”
“You still don’t understand what you’re doing wrong. It’s precisely because she’s still young that, once certain ideas form, they’re hard to change later.”
“Oh come on, every child thinks their mother is the most beautiful person in the world when they’re little. It’s normal!”
Naya stubbornly clung to her point, and Iris swallowed her frustration, glaring at her.
“It seems I’ll have to show you what’s truly right and wrong.”
Iris raised her hand, shutting the wooden window behind her. Then, with a swift motion, she scooped Naya up in a princess carry.
Iris gazed down at the silver-haired dragoness in her arms, filled with both love and exasperation.
But Naya didn’t resist.
Iris, struck by a sudden idea, laid Naya on the bed, tugging loose the ribbon behind her, allowing vibrant petals to flutter down.
What was Naya thinking?
Did she believe that giving Iris a little sweetness would be enough to calm her down and settle things?
Indeed, that was exactly what Naya thought.
Her mindset, inherited from her days as a human, was that if her spouse was jealous, offering herself as a peace offering would smooth things over.
After all, nothing a little intimacy couldn’t fix—if one time didn’t work, maybe two.
Naya felt Illya was too young for her wild words to matter. To her, it was just a child’s way of expressing love.
As spring blossoms bloomed, the tide surged, and so too did Iris’s desire. She unleashed the first of her thirteen deadly moves.
“A long spear, oh how it strikes! Short spear, endless might! I am Zhao Yun of Changshan, capable of breaking through seven times, and claiming the enemy general’s head from the midst of an army!”
“Iris, what nonsense are you spouting?”
Naya lay flat on the bed, hugging a pillow, biting her lip, but unable to suppress a smile. “Who’s the spearman here, you or me?”
This was the first time she had seen Iris so playful in bed.
“Passion stirs beneath the night sky, tears shed across the horizon. If my eyes can see the light, there will be no more darkness in this world! The ears deceive, but the heart listens true. Silver dragon, I have understood your limits. Even with your eyes closed, my spear strikes true! Second strike, heartbreaker!”
“If you keep this up, I’ll really get mad.”
Naya sat up, still clutching the pillow to her chest.
Iris, kneeling by the bedside, looked up, her eyes gleaming.
“Do you realize your mistake?”
“Where am I wrong?”
“The world spins endlessly, the rivers flow on despite being cut, and lifting a cup of wine only deepens sorrow. The moon hooks in the sky—parting is always hard. Third strike, blind dragon!”
“Ah!” Naya slapped Iris lightly on the head. “You scoundrel, how long are you planning to keep this up?”
“Evil silver dragon, do you know your mistake?”
Iris grabbed Naya’s hand, which was still resting on her head, staring intently into her violet eyes.
Naya bit her lip.
“I know I was wrong. Can you please just go play Mario seriously and stop pretending to be Han Xin?”
“Where were you wrong?”
“I will properly discipline Illya from now on and make sure she never says anything like that again.”
“Hmph! What flavor can compare to the fragrance of books? Who in the world is worthy of white robes? If you truly want to prove your sincerity, beg me.”
“Iris, don’t go overboard. I’ve already apologized, what more do you want? I promised you, and I’ll keep my word.”
Seeing the anger starting to flicker in Naya’s eyes, Iris softened.
But she quickly reminded herself that if she always gave in when Naya acted cute, Naya would never realize who was really in charge of this household.
“Once Illya is properly disciplined, what about the next one? Will you spoil them like you did her?”
“Iris, are you being childish?”
“Answer me.”
Sensing Iris’s growing intensity, Naya grew anxious and activated her ultimate move: Whale Fall, the Devourer of Cycles.
“The next one? Iris, do you know why I said what I said?”
“Hmm?”
“I set aside my own embarrassment and said I wanted more children—not because I really wanted more, but because I was afraid. Afraid you’d blame yourself for this one, for the situation of their twin souls. Then later, when my stomach hurt from their soul hunger, I worried you’d feel guilty. I said all that to ease your guilt, not because I wanted to spread my love thin. Iris, I’ve always loved you and only you. Why be jealous of the children? Illya is still just a child… If you truly lash out at her, what will become of your relationship with her in the future? Have you thought about that?”
Iris paused, her expression softening slightly.
It seemed that, upon reflection, Naya had indeed made more mistakes.
Naya released the pillow and opened her arms, signaling Iris to dive into her embrace.
Iris hesitated for a moment, then stood up and surrendered to the vast waves of Naya’s chest, breathing in the softness of her touch.
The dragon still stirred in the depths, yet the gateway to the sky had not opened.
“You cried several times over this matter before. I know how much you care about the child in my belly—especially since you implanted it in me without my consent.”
“Mmm…”
Naya began to gently voice her thoughts.
“When I regained my memories, you cautiously asked if I was angry because you didn’t get my consent before making me carry your child. From that moment, I knew this weighed heavily on your mind.”
“Mmm…”
Naya tenderly stroked the back of Iris’s head.
“You’ve always known this child has two souls in one body, and you were terrified that I’d be furious when I found out, maybe even accuse you of making me carry this ‘abnormal child’. Those were your exact words—this isn’t my guess.”
“Yes.”
“I want you to understand that I am willing—willing to give birth to the child born of our love. It’s a deep desire in my heart. You don’t need to feel guilty about it. That’s why I said, even if they turn out like these two little ones, I’m still willing to give birth for you. Why can’t you see how much I love you? Why are you jealous of Illya?”
“Naya… I’m sorry…”
Suddenly, Iris felt utterly shallow.
She hadn’t realized Naya’s true intentions.
When Naya mentioned having more children, Iris’s first thought was that they would take Naya’s love away from her. Because of this, she subconsciously resisted Naya’s words and the future Naya envisioned.
Tears soaked Naya’s chest, and through her soft skin, Iris could feel Naya’s heart beating joyously against her face.
Naya might spoil Illya, but her love for Iris remained unique. These two feelings were not the same, which was why Naya didn’t think she was wrong.
Illya was still young, without a clear concept of love or familial bonds. Her innocent words weren’t wrong either.
However, if her mindset wasn’t corrected moving forward, that would be a grave mistake.
Naya understood this.
Moreover, when Naya talked about having more children, she wasn’t pushing the responsibility onto Iris. Her sole intention was to ease Iris’s guilt.
Naya wasn’t sure if Iris was still troubled by the fact that the child in her belly carried two souls, but she tried to put herself in Iris’s shoes.
If she had made Iris carry such a child without her consent, Naya knew she’d be anxious every day, dreading the possible blame Iris might direct at her.
Considering all of this, Naya shamelessly talked about having more children—to prove that, regardless of Illya or the twins in her belly, she would still willingly choose this path for Iris, even if she knew what she did now.
“So, do you understand your mistake, Red Dragon?”
“I was wrong.”
“Then isn’t it time for the caged bird to return to its old forest, and the pond fish to go back to the depths?”
Iris lifted her head and kissed Naya’s crimson lips, responding to her wishes with action.
Soon, the hidden carp swam freely in the vast ocean, leaping high into the sky.
Fine beads of sweat clung to Naya’s silver hair, her long locks spreading like a snow lotus blossoming in the deep blue sea. Her half-closed eyes seemed to glimpse a faint vision of paradise.
Her soft breath lingered, filled with fragrance, radiating warmth.
[System, did you get that? This is what true mastery looks like—this is what it means to truly conquer the Dragon Queen.]
[Master, brilliant, absolutely brilliant.]
The system hadn’t expected that being the “submissive” could be a form of conquest too.
Iris had no choice but to obediently serve Naya, completely yielding to her whims.
Iris had been planning her strategy for so long, yet never once had it succeeded.
Every time, Naya’s pleading voice melted Iris’s resolve, and each time, Naya’s soft sighs would obliterate Iris’s reason.
Naya turned to her side, looking incredibly relaxed after being satisfied. She pulled the blanket up to cover herself.
“Go apologize to Illya properly. Don’t let the bond you two have built over the past two years go to waste.”
“Okay.”
“And remember to bring me some food when you come back.”
“You’re not going to eat?”
“I’m tired. I want to sleep.”
“That tired, huh?”
Iris sat up and gently stroked Naya’s silver hair, but the touches were noticeably fewer than when they had been in the palace.
“Mmm, maybe it’s because the soul energy of the twins has grown. I feel like I’m not as energetic as I used to be.”
Iris gazed tenderly at Naya’s profile, her eyes filled with affection.
At this moment, she no longer felt guilty about the burden Naya was carrying. What she should do was stand by Naya and protect their family together, not shrink back due to guilt.
“I’ll apologize to Illya properly, but at the same time, I’ll talk to her. She needs to understand that she can’t have children with her mother. I’ll try to be gentle, like you, and persuade her.”
“That’s good, that’s the right way to do it. We’re family, after all—what can’t we talk through? You also need to change your mindset. We shouldn’t let race define us. Sometimes, you need to take on the responsibility of being a mother too. Don’t always be in a rush to give Illya freedom, like dragons do. Before she’s a Dragon Princess and you’re the Dragon Queen, you’re mother and daughter, a family, okay?”
“Mmm…”
Naya was referring to how, near the Earth Vein Flower yesterday, Iris had been careless with Illya. She could have slowed down, but instead, she watched as Illya got pulled into Semira’s domain. She could have placed Illya gently on the ground, but instead, she tossed her aside.
Also, back on Minglong Island, Iris clearly knew her sister Chloris’s plan, but she still took Naya to the lab, giving Illya the chance to escape.
All of this had been deliberate—experiences Iris had arranged for Illya to undergo.
It wasn’t that she was incapable, she had done it on purpose.
Naya had noticed all of this but hadn’t pointed it out because she still remembered that Iris was a Dragon Queen, and Illya was a Dragon Princess and the future heir. That’s why she hadn’t directly confronted Iris’s intentions.
She knew the typical family dynamic wasn’t a perfect fit for their royal household.
Naya was trying to figure out a way to balance the needs of the Dragon Kingdom while keeping the warmth of a regular family.
Naya turned her head and rubbed her warm cheek against Iris’s palm, her purple eyes overflowing with tenderness.
“Go on, Illya is waiting for you next door.”
“Rest well.”
“Mmm.”
Iris stood up and walked toward the door. She had intended to teach Naya a lesson but ended up being lectured herself.
Feeling a little ashamed, Iris also felt a deep happiness. She was truly blessed to have such a wonderful wife.
