Chapter 646
by fanqienovelChapter 646: The Sorrow of Heaven’s Followers (Part Four)
"Enough."
Moon Emperor sighed softly and said, "You have not experienced that calamity, and do not know what terrifying beings are before you."
"If you wish to leave, I, as your master, will not keep you."
"Disciple pays respects to master," Chu Jiankuang said excitedly.
Upon seeing this scene, there was a stir deep in Qian’er’s eyes. She opened her mouth, but gazing at the lofty Moon Emperor, she ultimately dared not speak.
Mo Wangshu was itching to act.
"It is a pity I have already promised master to stay…""Since you have decided to go out, if you have the chance, go to Heaven’s Secret Pavilion," Moon Emperor cautioned. "If fate changes, it will be in Heaven’s Secret Pavilion."
"Disciple understands," Chu Jiankuang replied.
"In the world, there are no shortage of those whose hearts are as high as the sky, but whose lives are as thin as paper," Moon Emperor said with deep concern. "When you roam outside, you must restrain your nature."
"The Hongmeng Dao Realm is not the Immortal Land of the Other Shore."
"Yes," Chu Jiankuang nodded.
"Wangshu."
"Disciple is here."
Moon Emperor said, "Your senior brother has not walked the mortal world. Though your heart is honest, you lived through nine eras in the Hongmeng Dao Realm, so accompany him into the world this time."
"Disciple will certainly not fail master’s instructions," Mo Wangshu said, overjoyed. For a chatterbox, staying in one place to meditate was truly a hellish torment.
"Go."
"Master, disciple takes leave."
Mo Wangshu and Chu Jiankuang bowed in unison.
"Esteemed one, this junior takes leave," Chaotic Ancient God said respectfully.
The three walked out of the hall and flew toward the Bridge to the Other Shore.
Reaching the bridge head, Chu Jiankuang’s gaze fell upon two stone tablets. He murmured, "Those who follow heaven live, those who go against heaven die…"
"As I step out, will I live or die?"
"Senior brother, since you have decided, do not dwell on it," Mo Wangshu said. "Let me tell you, in the mortal world, there are countless fine drinks and delicacies. When we enter the yang realm, I will take you to taste dishes all over."
"Hahaha…"
Chu Jiankuang laughed freely, "Junior brother, I am not dwelling on it."
"What joy is there in life? What bitterness is there in death?"
"I just want to prove that going against heaven does not necessarily lead to death."
The three crossed the Bridge to the Other Shore and reached its end.
Mo Wangshu chanted a spell.
Hum!
In an instant, a luminous membrane appeared. An invisible hand seemed to pull it aside, revealing boundless, vast chaos.
Chu Jiankuang stared transfixed at the outside world.
It was his first glimpse.
The sweeping chaos brushed against him, overwhelmingly heavy, yet carrying a profound, mystical aura entirely distinct from the Immortal Land of the Other Shore.
Chu Jiankuang felt utterly amazed.
Hum!
As the three stepped out of the Immortal Land of the Other Shore, the luminous membrane sealed shut.
"Huh? How did I end up here?"
Suddenly, the Chaotic Ancient God exclaimed in surprise.
It seemed he had instantly lost all memory of the Immortal Land of the Other Shore. Instead, a mysterious piece of information related to Dao One inexplicably surfaced in his mind.
"Did I encounter an evil spirit?" the Chaotic Ancient God murmured.
Mo Wangshu also wore a look of astonishment.
"No need for surprise."
Chu Jiankuang chuckled. "His master had once told him that once an outsider leaves the Immortal Land of the Other Shore, the path they took vanishes, and their memories are erased."
"Even we ourselves cannot find the way back."
"But isn’t it right here?"
Mo Wangshu refused to believe it.
He chanted the spell again.
After one quarter of an hour, half a stick of incense, then a full stick of incense, the chaos remained utterly unresponsive. The Immortal Land of the Other Shore seemed to have vanished completely, no longer part of this realm.
The Chaotic Ancient God looked utterly baffled.
"Daoist friend Mo, what are you doing?"
"What exactly happened to us?"
"Do you still have any memory?"
The Chaotic Ancient God fired off three questions in succession.
He only remembered following Mo Wangshu to the easternmost point of the sky. Everything that happened after that was utterly gone from his mind, save for the secret of Dao One, which remained hidden in his heart.
"We encountered a ghost," Mo Wangshu declared with complete seriousness.
"Junior brother, how do we enter the Hongmeng Dao Realm?" Chu Jiankuang asked impatiently.
"Senior brother, I’ll tell you this: within the yang realm, there’s a place called Taihuang City. The barbecued food there is simply the finest in the mortal world. Let’s go there first and explore."
"And the desserts from Jiupinzhai in Heishui City are also superb."
Mo Wangshu rattled on endlessly.
Boom!
The Chaotic Ancient God slapped him into the chaos and then slipped away.
"That guy is so rude."
Mo Wangshu rubbed his head, grumbling.
"Junior brother, let’s attend to our main task first," Chu Jiankuang said solemnly. "Before we left, our master specifically instructed us to visit Heaven’s Secret Pavilion."
"Hahaha…"
Mo Wangshu laughed heartily. "I remember."
"Whenever Heaven’s Secret Pavilion comes up, I recall the candy figurine I ate that day, and then at Tianxiang Tower… Ow… Senior brother, a gentleman refrains from using his hands…"
…
The Immortal Land of the Other Shore.
"Qian’er, I know you desire to leave too. Why have you chosen to stay?" inquired Moon Emperor.
The Chaotic Ancient God and Mo Wangshu seemed like bricks that pried open the long-sealed hearts of Qian’er and Chu Jiankuang.
"If this disciple departs, the Immortal Land of the Other Shore would have only you alone, master. There wouldn’t even be anyone to speak with you on ordinary days," Qian’er expressed sincerely. "Though I yearn to experience the mortal world, I cannot bear to leave you entirely isolated."
"There’s a saying among mortals, and now it seems quite true."
"A saying?"
Qian’er’s bright eyes blinked with curiosity.
"A daughter’s heart clings close."
Moon Emperor lightly stroked the top of Qian’er’s head. "To me, you are indeed my daughter."
Qian’er beamed with joy.
"We have a visitor."
A few moments later, Moon Emperor stilled her movement, her moth-like eyebrows furrowing slightly. "Qian’er, withdraw for now."
"Yes."
Qian’er turned and disappeared within the hall’s space.
Moments later.
A potent aura descended upon the great hall.
Overbearing, arrogant, sharp, and carrying a hint of ferocity within.
A vast sea of mysterious light surged as divine patterns danced, slowly coalescing into the form of a man. Yet he remained entirely shrouded in the glowing radiance, his features indistinct.
"Moon Emperor. It has been some time."
The man chuckled.
Moon Emperor’s expression darkened slightly, her face holding repressed anger. "Primeval Emperor. Our waters have never mixed. Why have you trespassed into the Immortal Land of the Other Shore?"
"Hahaha…"
"Your Immortal Land of the Other Shore is no longer a paradise now," Primeval Emperor laughed heartily and said. "Your disciples have all left you, do you still not understand?"
"Those who follow heaven live, those who go against heaven die, has never been right!"
"According to this emperor, those who follow the heavenly decree, suffer," Primeval Emperor said.
"Whether it is life or suffering, it is not yet time to draw conclusions," Moon Emperor said coldly. "Moreover, even if it is suffering, it is still better than body perishes, Dao vanishes."
"Ignorant."
Primeval Emperor dismissed Moon Emperor’s words unconcernedly.
"You constantly mention the heavenly decree, yet fail to realize there has never been one!"
"This world has only two classes."
"The strong and the weak."
"The strong remain strong forever, and the fates of the weak have always been in the hands of the strong."
"The heavenly decree in your mouth is nothing more than a stronger being. To escape its domination, you can only become stronger than it!"
"So you consumed the Witch Master?"
Moon Emperor mocked with a sneer.
"For this emperor, what great meaning does consuming the Witch Master hold?" Primeval Emperor said with utter disdain. "It was a minor act done effortlessly."
Hearing this, Moon Emperor remained silent for a long time.
She deeply knew the strength of Primeval Emperor.
"Your visit this time, surely it is not to debate the Dao with me?" Moon Emperor frowned and said.
"No interest."
Primeval Emperor said lightly.
Their philosophies differed, and truly overcoming the other could only be done with fists and power.
"This emperor came for Heaven’s Secret Pavilion."
"You believe in the heavenly decree, so you must know the appearance of Heaven’s Secret Pavilion is its variable," Primeval Emperor laughed and said.
Moon Emperor did not refute.
She had indeed seen a variable.
Otherwise, she would not have lightly let Chu Jiankuang and Mo Wangshu leave, nor would she have directed them to Heaven’s Secret Pavilion.
"The descent of Heaven’s Secret Pavilion has brought an even greater variable to this cosmic era," Primeval Emperor grinned and said. "Therefore, this emperor came to form an alliance with you."
"Do you have any interest?"
