Volume 1 Chapter 699
by post_apiChapter 699: Oh, So It Was Me! Then Never Mind!
Lolth’s words caused Xiletor and Trish, who had been wrestling in a tangled heap, to release each other simultaneously.
Both women scrambled up from the floor and hurried toward Lolth in quick succession.
"Yelixi’s alive?!"
"How do you know that name?"
Their voices overlapped as they spoke nearly in unison.
Lolth regarded them with a measured exhale.
"Very much alive… I encountered her recently!"
"Deep within a marshland… though her condition remains precarious."
"Should you wish to seek her out, I can provide the spatial coordinates."
The dark elf paused, studying their faces intently.
"But before we dwell on Yelixi’s fate, have neither of you noticed the glaring inconsistency in your accusations?"
"Which of you actually bargained with the Hell Demon God?"
"And more importantly… what necessitated such dealings?"
As Lolth pressed these questions, realization finally dawned on both Xiletor and Trish Diana.
Xiletor bit her lip before responding.
"Because she’s the ‘Hero.’"
"Bearing the main plane’s will, Heroes ascend to extraordinary realms more swiftly than other Superoperators."
"Yet this power comes shackled with obligation – Heroes must purge all formidable entities foreign to the main plane."
"Meaning when I attained demi-god rank…" Xiletor’s voice tightened, "…the plane withdrew its welcome. The Hero became honor-bound to eliminate me."
"I believed she’d conspired with the Hell Demon God… exploited its plane’s will to erase her Heroic mantle."
"This perceived betrayal… it’s tormented me endlessly."
Trish Diana’s eyes widened into saucers.
"Wasn’t it you who sacrificed your ‘access to the main plane’ and ‘divine ascension’ to remove my Hero designation and the lifespan constraints from the Plane Will?"
"You never considered my wishes! All I desired was normalcy – bearing your children, aging gracefully, meeting death’s embrace when my time came!"
As Trish Diana’s accusation hung in the air, bewilderment washed over Xiletor’s features.
"How could I disregard your consent, Trish? Do you truly see me as so contemptuous?!"
Observing their renewed tension, Lolth interjected with clinical precision. "Neither speaks falsehood. But answer this -"
"From whom came this knowledge of infernal pacts? Did the Hell Demon God itself whisper these secrets?"
Xiletor’s brow furrowed at Lolth’s query.
"Kululu’s warning: ‘Your dearest has erred gravely, trafficking with the Hell Demon God regarding Heroic matters.’"
Trish Diana’s jaw went slack as she turned toward Kululu.
"But what you told me was, ‘A certain succubus went to the Hell Plane, possibly to make a deal related to you; you’d better prepare yourself mentally’…"
All eyes turned to Kululu who had been feigning death since earlier.
"Um…"
Kululu forced a smile from her round face as spatial ripples began undulating like water behind her.
"Why are you meddling again!"
Xiletor seized Kululu by the collar.
Trish shattered the ripples with her sword’s edge and commanded sharply.
"Explain properly! Don’t think you can flee through ‘Historical Records’!"
Kululu cast a pleading glance at Lolth, who exhaled wearily.
"Why stare at me? Just spit it out already!"
As Lolth spoke, Kululu suddenly adopted an odd expression.
"Truly, Little Lolth?"
"What else could it be?"
Lolth retorted impatiently.
Kululu batted her eyelashes before declaring:
"Very well… I’ll simply recreate the past events for you all…"
The flowing river of time congealed into viscous syrup as she spoke, every present soul suddenly adrift in temporal currents. Pages of history flipped rapidly before settling upon…
Three millennia past.
A resplendent palace rose before them, its obsidian walls mirror-polished. Chandeliers crafted from mermaid tears and a Balrog’s discarded heart hung from the vaulted ceiling.
At the scene’s center marched Kululu, a lollipop clamped between her teeth, hastening down the central aisle toward the throne’s shadowed occupant.
"’Hall of Damnation’?"
Trish Diana blinked, turning to Xiletor.
"Isn’t this your Demon King Castle during the last Abyssal Demon incursion?"
Xiletor’s eyes widened with dawning comprehension.
"Damn… So ‘closest person’ meant this."
As the vision continued unfolding, Kululu reached the throne’s dais.
"My observations suggest Xiletor has genuinely fallen for that ‘Heroine’…"
"But their union seems implausible. Blessed by the Main Plane Will, that human can’t possibly match Xiletor’s longevity – even with her incomplete inheritance of the Abyss’s Plane Will."
The throne’s occupant pondered this report momentarily.
"Then we’ll simply erase her Heroine status post-conflict."
"The Hell Plane’s authorities over Corruption and Curses should suffice."
The voice struck Lolth as vaguely familiar.
She froze momentarily before resuming observation.
Kululu crunched her lollipop and flashed an OK sign.
"Got it, boss. I’ll notify the Hell Plane."
The figure shook her head.
"No. I’ll go personally."
Rising from the obsidian throne, she emerged from shadowed alcove.
Then…
Materialized a visage all present recognized.
A succubus draped in fiery vermilion silks stood revealed, her allure tinged with indolence. Unusually modest curves for her kind accentuated her elegant ponytail. Rubbing her temples in evident exasperation, she sighed:
"Ugh… Must I really negotiate with those imbecilic Demon Gods? But for my dear sister’s happiness…"
"Since the invasion’s already ruined… To hell with it – literally."
The crimson-clad succubus casually tore open a plane channel.
The revelation shattered everyone’s composure.
"So YOU’RE the schemer… Lolthlinda!"
Xiletor facepalmed dramatically.
Lolth clutched her own head.
"Stars above… I’m the architect of this entire mess!"
