Chapter 37: Go Call the Police
by post_apiChapter 37: Go Call the Police
“You… what did you say!”
Lin De was even angrier.
Chen Feng shrugged, tilting his head and curling his lip. “Are you deaf?”
“You…”
Lin De was already furious beyond measure.
With his usual temper, if he got hit, he would have exploded on the spot.
This time, it wasn’t that he could endure it, but things happened too suddenly and he didn’t react in time.
At his own company, he was just teasing some unknown celebrity, was that such a big deal?
Chen Feng usually had a sharp tongue, but no matter how bad their relationship was, it never reached the point of physical violence.
What was going on?
What was even more infuriating was that after hitting someone, Chen Feng showed no sign of apologizing. Instead, his attitude became even more arrogant.
Only then did the other colleagues finally react, quickly gathering around. They appeared to be holding Chen Feng, but in reality, they were restraining him.
“Don’t, don’t do this.”
“Yeah, it’s not worth it. Manager Lin was just joking.”
“Besides, he wasn’t even talking about you, why are you acting like this!”
Everyone chimed in, “advising” him.
Tang Shuang, however, didn’t think the same.
She never expected that being a fan could show such manliness.
She considered herself Zhong Lei’s new die-hard fan, but look at this guy, this is what you call a die-hard fan!
If you dare slander my idol, I dare fight you!
Tang Shuang really admired Chen Feng’s courage to act.
In such situations, even if she was grinding her teeth with hatred, she would only dare to argue.
But arguing was always futile. Fists were the real truth. Didn’t they see that Lin De had finally shut up?
But how would this end?
Wait… something seemed off. These people trying to break up the fight were all pulling Chen Feng, but no one was holding Lin De!
Chen Feng also noticed this situation. It was so realistic he wanted to give these jerks a thumbs-up.
If it were his old self, he definitely would have been beaten up today.
But he didn’t regret it.
With many things you do, you can’t always ask for a reason.
He and Zhong Lei were just ordinary friends.
Zhong Lei was now a public figure, so she would inevitably be talked about.
Chen Feng just heard Lin De, someone who had nothing to do with Zhong Lei, gossiping in a semi-public setting. He shouldn’t have taken it so personally.
But at that moment, a sudden rage flared up inside him, and he couldn’t control it.
Maybe Lin De’s dirty words about Zhong Lei were just the trigger.
What really ignited it was probably the resentment built up from being targeted by Lin De repeatedly recently, and also the fact that he had finally made money today. Another broad avenue to change his life through writing songs had opened up, allowing him to suddenly throw off the shackles on his back.
So, since he was provoked, he just acted on the impulse!
On the other side, after Lin De came to his senses, his anger gradually burned hotter, his blood rushing to his head.
“I’m gonna kill you!”
Lin De lunged forward.
He raised his fist high, his face twisted and ferocious, hopping mad with rage.
Tang Shuang opened her mouth to scream, “No…”
Lin De was nearly six feet tall, and with his round, hefty build, visually he looked much more capable in a fight.
Besides, Chen Feng was being held by four people from all sides, leaving him defenseless against Lin De’s sudden attack.
If that punch landed on his face, Chen Feng might get disfigured.
The sudden change caught even those who were holding Chen Feng off guard.
They were pretending to break up the fight but secretly helping Lin De, but they didn’t want to cause a big scene.
They wanted to let go, but it was too late.
But…
Lin De’s fist never reached Chen Feng’s face.
Instead, he groaned, clutched his stomach, and fell backwards. He landed squarely on an office chair, sliding several meters away until he crashed hard into a wall and stopped.
Lin De started clutching his stomach, dry heaving.
The look he gave Chen Feng now held a lingering fear.
When Chen Feng was in the Military Camp a thousand years later, he was considered an elite soldier.
He had especially worked hard on physical training and close-quarters combat.
Even after he left the Military Camp, he didn’t slack off on his personal fitness training.
After a whole year of such hard training, he certainly had some skills.
Now, even if his fighting skills weren’t as good as a professional’s, he was at least a seasoned fighting enthusiast.
Don’t be fooled by Lin De’s bulky size; he was no match for Chen Feng.
Those who were holding Chen Feng saw things going south and loosened their grip slightly. Combined with the powerful explosive strength Chen Feng had gained from military training, hidden in his seemingly not overly muscular body, he just shrugged his shoulders and broke free. Then he lifted his leg and kicked.
“He hit someone! He hit someone in public! What are you all standing around for? Get him, beat him up!”
After dry heaving for a while, Lin De finally recovered a bit. He pointed at Chen Feng, shrieking hysterically.
Yet no one responded.
They were all just here to work and make a living. No need to take things this far.
You two are fighting. If you can’t win, that’s your personal grudge.
If we really step in and get physical, it becomes a group brawl.
What’s more, seeing Chen Feng’s kick just now, how clean and efficient it was.
And that burst of strength when Chen Feng broke free—many male colleagues who were still gripping his shoulders and arms suddenly felt their hands tighten. When this guy’s muscles flexed, they were as hard as stone.
Even though we have more people, we might not actually beat him.
“Chen Feng, let it go. Don’t be like this. We’re all colleagues here. Even if Manager Lin did you wrong, it wasn’t that serious. Be forgiving when you can.”
“Yeah, yeah. Manager Lin, you should say less too.”
Only then did everyone start trying to genuinely break up the fight.
Lin De was just bewildered. He pointed at his own face. “I’m the one who got hit, and you’re telling me to say less?”
Tang Shuang, however, spoke fairly. “Well, what then? Manager Lin, are you going to charge back and fight him?”
Lin De looked at Chen Feng and felt an inexplicable fear. “I… I’m calling the police!”
Chen Feng said indifferently, “Fine, go call the police. I’ll wait right here. I’ll wait for the police to come arrest me. Whatever medical fees they order me to pay, I won’t short you a single cent. But just going to the station isn’t enough. We’d better make the news too. I’ve even thought of a headline. ‘Well-Known Internet Company Executive Inexplicably Insults Popular Female Singer, Gets Savagely Beaten by Singer’s Die-Hard Fan.'”
“I’ll just lower my status a bit and be the brain-dead die-hard fan. What do you think, Fatty Lin? Don’t worry, I’ll definitely repeat every word you said verbatim to the reporters. That would be some pretty good news.”
Lin De fell silent.
He couldn’t bear the consequences Chen Feng described.
Gossiping in the office was one thing, but once it hit the news, Lin De couldn’t imagine the impact.
It might affect the company’s reputation, but that wasn’t the most important thing.
If a few more die-hard fans like Chen Feng showed up, putting up banners at the company entrance and organizing a boycott of Kelai Apartment online, the consequences would be unthinkable.
A demotion and pay cut would be unavoidable for him.
Seeing Lin De silent, Chen Feng smiled again. “See? You don’t even dare to call the police? Well then, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going. Oh, by the way, I used a few extra cents of the company’s electricity just now.”
“Here, give this to the finance department for me. Or you can keep it and buy yourself a lollipop. I’ll come back tomorrow to clear out my desk. No need to kick me out. I have my own legs, I’ll leave on my own.”
Chen Feng fished out a fifty-cent coin from the bottom of his pants pocket, slapped it on the table in front of Lin De, turned, and walked away coolly.
He left decisively, without a hint of nostalgia.
He was really leaving this time.
He just felt a little regretful. After all that preparation, in the end he only beat up Lin De. It was a pity to leave without really breaking this guy.
