Volume 1 Summary
by OrlurosThis is Old Yan, currently in seclusion, writing chapters. Thank you all for following the story this far. My respects.
Originally, I never really had the habit of writing end-of-volume summaries, but after thinking about it, whether as a summary or as a form of reflection, it is still a very good kind of record. At the very least, it helps sort through the previous outline clearly, and can also serve as a bridge between what came before and what comes next, as a preview for the next volume.
The name of this volume is 【Embarking on the World of Mortals】.
Actually, there are multiple narrative threads, and the protagonist Wuhuo’s state of mind is also constantly changing. At the beginning, he was merely a youth in a small town. Although he was already within the mortal world, it could hardly be said that he had truly entered the center of the era’s great whirlpool. The first transformation came when he encountered his teacher, and afterward stepped onto the path of cultivation, going forth to witness countless sights and landscapes. During that period, he was actually in a transcendent state, detached from the mortal world.
Afterward, his teacher brought him to meet his senior brothers and sisters, and then sent him into the mortal world.
At that stage, although Qi Wuhuo had entered the human world, in truth he was only physically within the mortal realm while his heart had yet to truly settle into it.
Only once the events of Jinzhou gradually unfolded before him, as the grudges and entanglements of the past all spread open together, did those old storylines become like ropes that truly pulled him into the mortal world and worldly affairs, until the grievances of the past were severed with the sword, the Eastern Radiance Great Emperor was executed, and the authority of the Human Emperor in the mortal world was shattered. At that moment, he had truly entered the mortal dust of the human world.
At the end, he departed from the storm-tossed Central Plains and returned to the small village where he once lived.
But now, even while in that little village, he is already within the mortal world, unlike at the beginning, when, although he had left the mountain village, he still remained, in essence, outside the worldly sphere.
I tried to complete this first volume of the novel using the structure of a medium-length story: introduction, development, turn, and conclusion, bringing forth one character after another, while also trying not to treat them merely as stepping stones. I wanted to shape richer characters and search for the balance between characters and story.
For example, the Seventh Prince drawing his blade and entering the forbidden grounds—only someone with his kind of personality could do such a thing, and the tension of that plotline itself further strengthened the presence of the character. I am no longer particularly young, and I always hope to write books with more texture and substance. Of course, this road is still long and distant; this is only the beginning after all. (laugh)
Returning to the novel itself, this book is planned to be driven by story and characters, probably around six to eight volumes in total.
It should be around three to four million characters altogether.
The first volume alone was sixty-six to nearly sixty-seven ten-thousand characters long, written over roughly three months.
And in truth, the first volume was merely a 【Prologue】.
It was the beginning.
Embarking upon the mortal world.
A youth enters the mortal world, pressing his hand upon the sword while singing long songs.
It introduced the Heavenly Court, the human world, the demon races, and many other existences.
We learned that the human world and the Heavenly Court govern separately, that there are Demon Kingdoms, Dragon Clans, Earth Deities, Water Officials, and the Penglai Department.
There are the Four Great Emperors, the Human Emperor, the fierce killing star that is the Northern Pole Exorcism Institute, and cultivation organizations such as the Mingzhen Dao Alliance.
It also allowed Qi Wuhuo to step out from the mountains and enter this era of immortals, heroes, and gods and demons.
What appears to be the punishment of the mastermind is only the beginning. Jinzhou, the Demon Kingdoms, the Human Emperor, and the matters of the past have not yet concluded, while new identities will also bring new changes.
What will be encountered during the journey to Jinzhou, the reactions from all sides, the legend of the Dragon Maiden, who exactly the three Demon Kingdom figures who were drawn over are, the fate awaiting the Human Emperor, the later experiences of Seventh Prince Li Zhai, the surging tides of the human world, the heroes of the Six Realms, and even the restoration of Qi Wuhuo’s own foundation, the movements of the Pure Yang True Person Lü Dongbin, and even the suddenly appearing Dangmo True Lord of the Northern Pole Exorcism Institute, who descended like a star and whose appearance affects the entire Six Realms—
All of these will begin to unfold and expand in the next volume.
The groundwork has already been sufficiently laid, and everyone can probably guess the name of the next volume.
I once considered names such as the Jinzhou Arc or Demon Kingdom Arc.
But in the end, none were as direct and decisive as this volume title—
Today I will revise the detailed outline, and tomorrow the second volume begins.
【Taishang Xuanwei True Person】
It will also be next month soon, so let me ask in passing for next month’s monthly votes.
Everyone, tomorrow we step into the story of the second volume.
Clasps fists.
