Chapter 95: The Green Jade Divine Rune

A towering Giant of Yellow Sand rose from the ground, blocking Luo Wencheng and his two companions.

Within the shattered space, the sudden appearance of this colossal figure was staggering. As the giant stood in their path, the surrounding yellow sand began to churn, drawn toward it like iron to a magnet. Layer by layer, the sands gathered around the giant, swelling its size until it loomed over ten zhang tall.

Ye Yun and Su Ling stared at each other in shock. Both sensed an overwhelming aura radiating from the Giant of Yellow Sand. Sweat dampened Ye Yun’s palms. Had they charged forward earlier, they’d now be trapped by this monstrous creation.

Su Ling’s eyes widened in confusion as she glanced at Ye Yun. She couldn’t fathom how he’d predicted this danger. If he hadn’t yanked her back…

“Let’s stay hidden. If even Senior Brother Luo can’t handle this, we’d just be throwing our lives away,” Ye Yun said, gripping her hand tightly.

Su Ling’s cheeks flushed, but she didn’t pull away. Softly, she explained, “Senior Brother Luo is one of Uncle Ouyang’s top ten disciples. His cultivation has reached Qi refining stage level seven, and they say he’ll attempt the foundation establishment stage within three years. He’s Absolute Sword Peak’s brightest talent. His presence here means many restrictions have broken down, and the leaking spiritual energy no longer threatens Qi refining disciples.”

“Uncle Ouyang… you mean Ouyang Wentian from Absolute Sword Peak?” Ye Yun asked casually, recalling mentions of the Four Peak Masters since becoming an outer disciple.

“Exactly! Uncle Ouyang’s cultivation has reached the sixth-layer Foundation Establishment celestial realm. He’s a strong contender to become the next Heavenly Sword Sect Leader,” Su Ling whispered, her warm breath brushing Ye Yun’s ear.

A tickling sensation made Ye Yun turn. Their faces nearly touched—a hair’s breadth more, and his lips would’ve grazed her cheek.

Su Ling blushed and ducked her head.

An unfamiliar warmth bloomed in Ye Yun’s chest, a feeling he couldn’t name yet couldn’t suppress.

The Giant of Yellow Sand towered before Luo Wencheng, swirling sands clinging to its form like a living cloak.

Luo Wencheng, whose cultivation had reached the true fire realm’s seventh-level Qi Refinement, now faced the giant with ashen resolve. Despite his power—having forged inner qi into true fire—the ten-zhang behemoth’s pressure threatened to crush him.

“Senior Brother Luo, what do we do?” trembled the two white-robed inner disciples beside him, barely enduring the oppressive aura.

“We try the Three Talents Formation,” Luo Wencheng declared, steadying himself.

The disciples hesitated, then darted into position, forming a triangle around the giant. Three cold-gleaming swords appeared instantly in their hands, their arcs of sword energy pulsing with murderous intent.

“That’s Absolute Sword Peak’s Three Talents Formation,” Su Ling murmured. “It merges their attacks—each strike equals three combined blows. Devastating power, but weak defense.”

Ye Yun’s breath hitched. The formation’s brilliance was clear: any assault would face triple-strength counters. Only overwhelming force could break it.

As they watched, Luo Wencheng’s sword flashed. A lightning-like sword arc lit the area, its vast Sword Energy roaring toward the giant.

The other two angled their blades upward. Sword arcs converged overhead, forming a luminous canopy. Several strands merged with Luo Wencheng’s strike, amplifying it into a dragon-like tempest.

Ye Yun’s heart raced. This was his first glimpse of a late-stage Qi refining expert’s might—a sword strike shattering all his prior assumptions.

Excitement burned in his eyes. Soon, he’d reach such heights. With the Heart of Immortals and Demons, even geniuses like Shen Mo—whose cultivation speed once dwarfed his—no longer intimidated him. The artifact purified spiritual energy effortlessly, eliminating cultivation bottlenecks.

As the divine dragon-like sword energy crashed toward the giant, Ye Yun smiled. Not with awe, but hungry anticipation.

The sword arc flashed like a ribbon across the sky, piercing through the Giant of Yellow Sand’s chest. The attack penetrated its several-zhang-thick body and emerged from its back. Yet contrary to expectations, the giant didn’t crumble into sand. The gaping opening rapidly mended itself with swirling yellow particles, leaving no trace of damage.

Luo Wencheng’s face turned grave and pale. The two inner disciples beside him trembled visibly, their eyes wide with shock. Even peak Qi refining stage experts wouldn’t dare face the Three Talents Formation’s full assault unscathed – survivors would either perish or sustain grave injuries. But against this sand creature, their ultimate strike proved utterly ineffective.

The enraged giant twisted violently, heaving a massive sandy arm skyward before slamming its palm downward. Whirling sand coalesced into a titanic hand that descended with howling winds toward Luo Wencheng. Though not particularly swift, the attack blanketed ten zhang of space. Normally, even Ye Yun could’ve dodged such an area strike, but Luo Wencheng’s face whitened as he realized spatial laws had locked this zone, creating an inescapable prison.

"Spatial array!" Recognition flashed across Luo Wencheng’s features. As Ouyang Wentian’s disciple from Absolute Sword Peak, he understood arrays better than most. Spatial arrays specialized in containment rather than direct killing, yet this trap held him motionless while the crushing sand-hand descended – the true killing move.

At the seventh level of Qi refining and nearing foundation establishment, Luo Wencheng could survive most spatial attacks. But the destructive power gathering above exceeded his defenses. Resolve hardened his features as teal light erupted from his palm.

"Senior Brother Luo, don’t!" cried a white-clad disciple. His companion channeled true qi into his sword, launching a desperate counterattack.

The teal projectile struck the descending palm with a crisp snap, exploding into luminous fragments that enveloped both hand and giant. "Perish!" Luo Wencheng snarled, clenching his fist. The glowing sand colossus imploded violently, disintegrating into harmless dust.

As the fading teal light scattered on the wind, Luo Wencheng’s face twisted with bitter rage. "Enough," he coldly interrupted his junior’s hesitant approach. "The green jade divine rune’s loss matters little if we secure treasures in the great tomb’s second layer. And those surviving outer disciples…" His voice dripped icy promise. "They’ll have gathered interesting trinkets."

Behind their sandy cover, Ye Yun and Su Ling froze. Neither mistook the murderous intent lacing those words.
