Chapter 94: The Giant of Yellow Sand

Ye Yun felt the Hualun Secret Vault’s journey was only now becoming truly intriguing. Before, it had been fraught with peril—most disciples perished, and even survivors gained little.

But after breaking the first layer’s spatial array, rewards flowed. On a strange mountain peak, he’d harnessed lightning power, enabling the Thundercloud Lightning Sword to unleash its full, devastating might. Then Su Ling obtained a blue egg pulsing with intelligence, likely containing a spirit beast.

At an altar, Ye Yun absorbed more lightning power, his body tempered until thunderclouds crackled around him at a thought. When the mountain crumbled, they entered this desert. With Du Jianyin’s aid, Ye Yun shattered a blazing sun, gaining the Blazing Flame Explosion Ring—a medium-grade spiritual weapon Su Ling deemed exceptional.

This treasure thrust Ye Yun into a mystical state. He glimpsed the faces of youths fleeing golden-armored warriors and learned the black-and-white light within him bore a domineering name: the Heart of Immortals and Demons.

Destroying another sun yielded an ice ring radiating bone-deep cold. Even his lightning-forged body nearly failed—only the Heart’s absorption of ice and fire energies spared him from death and spirit dissolution.

Holding the blue-glowing ring, Ye Yun channeled spiritual power. Delight surged—though part of its icy essence had been absorbed, chilling power remained. His own ice-infused spiritual power let him endure.

Marking the ring with his spiritual imprint, information flooded his mind: *Ice Crystal Soul Lock Ring*. Crafted from ten-thousand-year ice essence and rare materials, it could freeze souls.

Blazing Flame Explosion and Ice Crystal Soul Lock—opposing attributes yet flawlessly complementary. Unbelievable.

Ye Yun rejoiced. Though still at the Sixth Level of body refinement, he’d gained lightning, fire, and ice powers fused via the Heart. Below the Qi refining stage, none could rival him now—even Comprehending Qi Stage warriors would fall to his sword and twin spiritual weapons.

He burned to reach the Qi refining stage, where ninth-tier Celestial Techniques and medium-grade weapons’ true power would awaken.

“Ye Yun, you’ve hit the jackpot,” Su Ling remarked, watching him open his eyes.

“Thanks to you,” he said solemnly. “Without your help, I’d be dead—let alone gaining treasures.”

Su Ling’s cheeks pinked. “Now you’re sweet-talking me? Before, you barely spoke!”

Ye Yun’s mirth faded into gratitude. If their exploration ended here, he’d be the expedition’s greatest beneficiary.

Medium-grade spiritual weapons were rare treasures, especially top-tier ones. More crucially, the Heart’s fusion of three elemental powers promised unimaginable future benefits.

“With both suns destroyed, the spatial array weakens. We’ll leave soon.” Ye Yun scanned the darkened desert where sandstorms raged.

Su Ling nodded. “The collapsing space poses no threat now. We wait.”

She marveled at his meteoric rise—from bullied servant disciple to outer disciple elite in months. Now, twin spiritual weapons adorned him, his aura sharpening toward the Comprehending Qi Stage. *He’ll become an inner disciple swiftly, maybe even join the Elite Hall within years.*

Winds howled, sand blotting out light. Ye Yun stepped before Su Ling, shielding her with his back.

“Ye Yun…” Emotion thickened her voice.

“Sand fills mouths when we speak,” he said gently.

She nodded, ear pressed to his thunderous heartbeat as storms raged.

When winds stilled, a blade of light split the sky—a crystalline barrier cleaving the desert.

“We’re leaving?” Ye Yun’s eyes outshone the radiance above.

Su Ling nodded, cheeks flushing as she mumbled.

“What?” he asked.

“Nothing!” She averted her face.

“Once the sky fully parts, we exit this tomb.” Ye Yun rejected greed—the cultivation world’s thorns awaited the covetous.

Su Ling gasped. “The first layer’s restrictions broke—they’re coming!”

“Then we can leave!” Ye Yun exulted.

The sky shattered into glittering fragments. Voices echoed beyond—figures emerged through the rift.

“Senior Brother Luo from Absolute Sword Peak!” Su Ling identified them instantly.

As she prepared to call out, Ye Yun clamped a hand over her mouth. “Wait. Something’s wrong.”

She shoved his hand away. “They’re here! We’re saved!”

“They’re weapon-ready, too cautious.” He pulled her behind a dune. “Let them handle any dangers.”

Su Ling huffed. “Of course they’re careful—they’ve never been here!”

Ye Yun agreed, yet dread gnawed him. The Heart of Immortals and Demons churned violently in his dantian.

Arm around her shoulders, he waited. The newcomers crept forward—until a sand dune erupted into a towering Giant of Yellow Sand, blocking their path.
