Chapter 91: The Black Lotus in Sight

“No mistake—this is absolutely an exceptional medium-grade spiritual weapon!”

Su Ling struggled to steady herself. “Ye Yun, you must keep this safe!”

A scalding heat instantly flooded Ye Yun’s mind. The fiery red circular ring felt heavy and unyielding, its surface coated in a shifting layer of crimson fire that flowed like liquid.

“Me?” Ye Yun froze.

What did a medium-grade spiritual weapon even signify? Typically, even a hundred low-grade spiritual weapons couldn’t rival a single medium-grade one—let alone one of such quality. How staggeringly valuable was this?

Ye Yun had heard that even purple-robed outer disciples faced immense challenges obtaining a medium-grade spiritual weapon. Not all inner disciples possessed one, either. For someone like Su Ling, such a treasure was exceedingly rare—hence her shock.

“What’s wrong?” Su Ling tilted her head, puzzled by his dazed reaction.

“Right.”

Ye Yun inhaled deeply, gave her a brief glance, and silently stored the ring in his storage pouch. He then looked up at the second blazing sun.

After a few breaths, he lowered his gaze to Du Jianyin.

Du Jianyin had also been studying the sun but snapped his head down upon sensing Ye Yun’s stare. He let out a cold snort. “Expecting me to help you slay that thing? Keep dreaming.”

Su Ling’s brow twitched, but she softened her tone. “Du Jianyin, that sun is likely another medium-grade spiritual weapon. If you and Ye Yun—”

“Swords are my only interest,” Du Jianyin cut her off coldly. “Why would I pave the way for your gain?”

His pristine, jade-like sword swung toward Ye Yun. “One day, you’ll fall beneath this blade.” His voice rang clear, brimming with conviction.

“Oh?”

Ye Yun’s expression remained blank, but his eyes narrowed into icy slits.

Du Jianyin stiffened as if facing a mortal threat. “I’m no match for you now. Once my cultivation level advances, I’ll defeat you!”

A flash of white sword shadows erupted, hurling him into the distant yellow sand until he vanished from sight.

Su Ling glared at the empty dunes and stamped her foot. “That man is intolerable!”

“Intolerable?” Ye Yun shook his head. “I prefer his bluntness. Even his threats are better than the scheming types in our Heavenly Sword Sect.”

“Since when do you insult your own sect?” Su Ling feigned a glare before laughing. “At least he helped you bring down a blazing sun. The array’s core is shattered!”

“Already?” Ye Yun blinked.

Su Ling hooked her arm through his. “Slow to notice, aren’t you?”

Only then did Ye Yun sense a cool breeze brushing his neck, its chill seeping into his bones.

“This wind… from outside the spatial array?” He jolted. “The array’s damaged?”

Su Ling nodded, beaming.

Ye Yun’s pulse quickened. “Can we leave now? Do you know the way?”

“No need to rush. Once a spatial array develops flaws, they’ll keep expanding until it collapses on its own. Let’s first search for treasures in these endless yellow sands—this is the second layer after all,” Su Ling said, looking at him like he was an idiot while suppressing a smile.

“Treasures?” A glimmer of excitement flashed in Ye Yun’s eyes. She was right. They’d risked their lives to enter the Hualun Secret Vault precisely for heavenly materials, earthly treasures, and training resources.

He flipped his right hand, summoning the circular ring formed from the blazing sun into his palm. Its warmth carried occasional stinging sensations.

He’d stored the ring in his storage pouch without proper inspection earlier. Now he finally examined it closely.

The fiery-red ring, made of unknown material, emitted a faint glow. Flames seemed to ripple across its surface like liquid oil, never extinguishing.

Ye Yun channeled spiritual power into it. If this spiritual weapon was unclaimed, he could imprint it through spiritual infusion. Even if owned, overpowering its original master’s mark was possible if his cultivation level surpassed theirs.

His spiritual power flowed smoothly into the ring. Within moments, he’d imprinted and claimed it.

*Blazing Flame Explosion Ring!*

The domineering name materialized in his mind. Violent fire energy churned within the crimson ring. Ye Yun sensed that unleashing this energy could reduce an entire forest to ashes instantly.

This power undoubtedly surpassed low-grade spiritual weapons. Though unsure of its exact tier among medium-grade weapons, its quality was exceptional.

“See? I told you it’s a top-tier medium-grade spiritual weapon,” Su Ling remarked as Ye Yun secured the ring.

Ye Yun nodded. “It’s called the Blazing Flame Explosion Ring. Channeling spiritual power activates its formation, releasing explosive fire energy to incinerate everything.”

Instead of envy, Su Ling’s face turned solemn. “Keep it hidden even after we escape. Without reaching the Qi refining stage, you can’t fully control it. Using it recklessly will draw greedy eyes and trouble.”

Ye Yun chuckled at the girl’s earnestness. “You sound wiser than your years, little girl. Didn’t expect someone coddled by elders to understand these dangers.”

Su Ling glared. “That’s why I’m your senior! There’s plenty more I know—you’ll learn in time.”

Ye Yun laughed heartily. Suddenly inspired, he leaped skyward like lightning, charging toward the blazing sun above.

“Ye Yun, stop!” Panic edged Su Ling’s voice. The array’s flaw required patience, not recklessness. Triggering its killing formation meant certain death.

Too late. Ye Yun hurled the ring. A fiery dragon erupted from it, tearing through the sky toward the sun.

Flames scorched the air in its wake, heat warping space itself.

Su Ling gaped. The ring contained fire energy potent enough to challenge mid Qi refining stage cultivators. “How does a medium-grade weapon hold such power? Only rare ones release energy this explosively!”

Despite her youth, Su Ling’s knowledge surpassed Tian Zhu Peak disciples. She watched the fire dragon charge as space cracked beneath its heat, fractures spreading like spiderwebs.

“RETREAT!” she screamed. Spatial arrays by Golden Pill masters contained killing formations far beyond their cultivation level. One misstep meant instant death.

Ye Yun hovered inexplicably in midair, ignoring her.

*Crack!*

The fractured space shattered. Countless crystalline fragments infused with spatial laws shot out like deadly rain.

Su Ling paled. A single shard could obliterate them. Yet moments later, her terror turned to shock.

Spatial fragments whirled around Ye Yun without harming him. Shards pierced his body yet caused no wounds—they passed through like illusions. Sunlight refracted through the fragments, casting an ethereal glow on his calm face.

Meanwhile, the fire dragon struck the distant sun.

*BOOM!*

A hundredfold blaze erupted. Su Ling saw only crimson light, but Ye Yun stared unflinching into the inferno.

Within the flames, a familiar vision unfolded: golden-armored warriors surged like tidal waves, annihilating mountains and forests. Pursued by this force, a young couple in black and white strolled leisurely.

Previously blurred, their faces now appeared clear—the man dignified with a flickering black lotus between his brows, the woman breathtakingly elegant.

As they turned toward him, black-white light shot into Ye Yun’s chest. Normally, this would end the vision. But this time, he glimpsed their eyes—pools of absolute purity, devoid of emotion yet brimming with cosmic depth.

*Pure. Untainted.*

The thought faded as weakness overwhelmed him. Ye Yun plummeted from the sky.
