Chapter 83: The Mysterious Array Eye
"Strange."
Su Ling stared at the three floating light shadows ahead, her brows furrowing.
Ye Yun’s eyes flickered. "What’s strange?"
"The spiritual energy in these three light shadows is very pure and doesn’t mix. They’re nothing like normal restrictions or arrays." Her frown deepened.
"Pure spiritual energy?" Ye Yun tilted his head.
"Most arrays use complex, shifting energy to stop intruders. But these…" She gestured at the static shadows. "They’re simple. Unchanging."
Ye Yun’s breath hitched. "Does that mean we need brute force to break through?"
Su Ling paled. The shadows radiated terrifying power—far beyond their capabilities. If this was true, they’d be trapped forever.
Ye Yun clenched his jaw. Without warning, he touched the white light shadow.
A sharp energy stabbed through his fingers. Only his toughened body saved him from injury.
"Ye Yun!" Su Ling cried out.
Ignoring her, he pressed his hand against the blue shadow next. Familiar agony erupted from his soul, staggering him. Yet he smiled through the pain.
"You… found something?" Su Ling’s eyes widened.
"Touch them."
She hesitated, then brushed all three shadows. "Nothing happened."
Ye Yun stared. She wasn’t lying—the shadows ignored her completely.
Heart pounding, he jabbed the purple shadow. Electricity clamped his finger. Through the violet glare, he saw writhing lightning snakes—any one could kill them instantly.
He yanked back, drenched in cold sweat.
"What’s wrong?" Su Ling grabbed his arm.
"You felt nothing?" His voice shook. "The white shadow stabs like knives. The purple one’s full of killer lightning. And the blue…" He met her gaze. "It’s that soul-deep pain you described."
Su Ling’s hands flew to her mouth. "The treasures from the mountain—they’re keys for this array?"
Her mind raced. Her blue egg could hatch a spirit beast rivaling Foundation Establishment experts. Ye Yun’s lightning bolt enhanced his cultivation. Each gift perfectly matched its recipient…
"This wasn’t random." Ye Yun’s throat tightened. "Duan Chenfeng got jade to boost his already fast cultivation. Junior Yu received the Little Xuanwu Shield for defense. Even Qu Yiping’s devil blade suits his cruel nature. Someone’s playing with us."
"A Golden Core stage tomb master?" Su Ling whispered.
"Maybe. But we’ve no choice now." He nodded at her pouch. "Try the egg."
Hands trembling, she held the blue egg to the matching shadow. Light exploded, drowning everything in azure sparks.
When the glow faded, the blue shadow had vanished. Su Ling stared at her palm—the egg had shrunk to chicken-egg size, its shell darkened and cracked with strange markings.
Ye Yun squeezed her hand. "You okay?"
She didn’t answer, transfixed by the transformed egg. The air hummed with unspoken dread—what had they just awakened?
