Chapter 77: Anger to the Point of Spitting Blood
"Then are we doomed?" Yu Minghong’s body trembled uncontrollably. "We’re trapped in a Golden Pill master’s spatial array – there’s absolutely no way to break free."
"Destroying a Golden Pill master’s spatial magical array is impossible, but every array follows certain rules. We could try finding this spatial array’s pattern to escape," Su Ling’s voice spoke up again.
"Patterns?" Ye Yun furrowed his brows. This sounded simple but would be difficult in practice.
Su Ling looked at Ye Yun with playful pride, pursing her lips. "Of course, not just anyone can discern an array’s rules."
Ye Yun caught the glint in her eyes and asked, "Su Ling, have you studied spatial magical arrays?"
The girl pretended to glare. "You’re missing two words again, Ye Yun."
The young man nodded impassively. "Senior Sister Su Ling, what should we do now?"
"Much better. Let me think properly."
Though Su Ling rested her chin in hand without appearing serious, even Duan Chenfeng suppressed his irritation, knowing she might be their only hope. Ye Yun waited calmly, showing no urgency.
"Ah! I’ve got it!" Su Ling suddenly announced, pinching her own chin.
"What method?" Qu Yiping rushed forward eagerly.
Su Ling tilted her head at him. "To find the array’s pattern, we must first trigger it. You should attack randomly to activate it. With your cultivation level, you couldn’t damage it, but any disturbance might reveal fluctuations I can analyze."
"Are you mad?!" Qu Yiping paled, voice sharp. Attacking such an array risked deadly backlash.
Su Ling snorted. "Do I look like I’m joking?"
"What if his attacks endanger others?" Duan Chenfeng cut in coldly before Qu Yiping could respond.
"Unlikely. His weak cultivation would only cause minor ripples unless the array’s already failing." Su Ling smiled teasingly at the scowling youth. "Scared? I’m not."
"Worth attempting." Duan Chenfeng’s lips curled. "Qu Yiping – attack!"
"You can’t be serious!" Qu Yiping’s face twisted.
"Need it spelled out?" Icy light flashed in Duan Chenfeng’s eyes. "Ye Yun and I share closer ties than you. Refuse now, and you won’t escape alive."
"This isn’t the Hall of Refining the Heart trial. Killing you costs us nothing – you couldn’t even scratch us." He added with dark emphasis.
Qu Yiping trembled with rage but swallowed his retort upon seeing Ye Yun’s indifferent expression.
"Honestly, your cultivation can barely cause tremors. Minimal danger." Su Ling blinked encouragement.
"I won’t forget this!" Qu Yiping hissed through clenched teeth after several conflicted expressions. With furious resolve, he slammed his palm into a nearby large tree, secretly hoping any backlash would claim them all.
The trunk shuddered violently, leaves cascading down like sudden rain.
"Ye Yun, let’s move back further."
However, what made Qu Yiping nearly spit blood in rage was Su Ling’s extreme vigilance. The instant he thrust his palm forward, she had already pulled Ye Yun back with her.
"Keep your distance from us," Duan Chenfeng also retreated swiftly, grinning maliciously. "Unless you wish to fight us directly."
The others, including Yu Minghong, exchanged glances before hastily stepping back.
Qu Yiping desperately wanted to tear them all to shreds, but couldn’t act recklessly. Gritting his teeth, he unleashed torrents of spiritual power around himself.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Attacks erupted continuously, sending grass and stone fragments flying. Within moments, the area around him resembled a chaotic mine, filled with flying debris and swirling dust.
Crash!
A deafening explosion suddenly rang out. Before anyone could react, Qu Yiping was sent flying backward amidst a cloud of dust, crashing heavily to the ground with blood trickling from his lips.
"It activated!"
Su Ling cried out excitedly.
Ye Yun shot her a glance, his brows furrowing deeply. Her current demeanor confirmed his suspicion – she’d never been certain about triggering the magical array.
"The stabilizing forces of the spatial array are destabilizing. Everyone gather close and stay together. Stop attacking immediately," Su Ling instructed while clutching Ye Yun’s arm, her proximity allowing a faint floral scent to reach him.
His irritation unexpectedly faded, though he shook his head slightly.
Hearing her voice, Qu Yiping coughed up more blood. His internal organs had been displaced from the backlash – only a madman would attack again in this condition.
Duan Chenfeng’s group formed a tight defensive circle. With the spatial array activated, none knew what would happen next. Should the spatial-level attacks Su Ling mentioned materialize, even tenfold stronger cultivators would be annihilated instantly.
As the dust settled, wispy tendrils of light appeared in the air, darting like electric serpents.
Su Ling’s delicate brows knitted as she hurled a gleaming object upward.
Snap!
A teal sword shattered midair, its broken halves clattering to the ground.
"Beware! These electric snakes can sever low-grade spiritual weapons," she warned gravely.
The group nearly collapsed in shock. Even Duan Chenfeng stared incredulously – she’d casually sacrificed a precious spiritual weapon to test the danger?
Qu Yiping’s expression darkened further.
"Follow me!" Su Ling commanded urgently, dragging Ye Yun forward without glancing at the others.
Ye Yun sensed promise in her actions and allowed himself to be pulled along. Terrifying Spiritual Power Waves lashed around them, yet always missed by hair’s breadths.
The others now regarded Su Ling with newfound awe. Her knowledge of spatial arrays surpassed ordinary noble heirs – such secrets typically resided only in Golden Pill masters’ texts, possibly absent even from Shadowless Peak’s archives.
"So fast!" Yu Minghong exclaimed in relief.
Within minutes of hurried walking, the distant teal mountains loomed directly before them.
"Too late."
Su Ling halted abruptly, frustration etching her features.
Ye Yun tensed. "What’s wrong?"
"The spatial array’s fluctuations have stabilized. Any movement now might teleport us farther away," she explained grimly.
Qu Yiping’s face flushed crimson as he silently cursed Su Ling, vowing brutal vengeance if they survived. Injured and outmatched, he could only channel his fury into wild spiritual attacks.
Boom! Boom!
Explosions rocked the area as dust clouds billowed anew.
"What are you doing?" Su Ling’s incredulous voice cut through the chaos.
Qu Yiping turned to find her staring at him like he was insane. "We need to trigger another fluctuation!"
"Did I order that?" She shook her head in exasperation. "After initial activation, the array’s defenses multiply exponentially. Your cultivation level can’t overcome it now. Stop wasting energy."
"What?!" Qu Yiping vomited blood violently, nearly collapsing from rage.
