Chapter 7: Stepping on Faces
Boom!
Two mighty forces smashed against each other, hurling a white light beam skyward. Liu Yu’s body abruptly froze mid-motion, rooted to the spot.
Ye Yun, now shaped like an aged bull, stood unyielding, his robes flapping wildly, yet he stood firm.
An even match!
The clash left both evenly matched—neither gained ground.
How?
Liu Yu was a true disciple of Tian Zhu Peak. Even as part of the Heavenly Sword Sect’s outer sect, their weakest cultivation techniques surpassed basic ones tenfold!
For centuries, no servant disciple had ever rivaled the higher peaks’ disciples, much less fought to a draw.
Liu Daolie’s eyes locked in disbelief, his heart pounding erratically.
He scrubbed his eyes fiercely, doubting reality. Yet the crushing shockwave battering his body proved it real.
Distant servant disciples gaped at each other, stunned.
“Pathetic.”
Ye Yun smirked, hands clasped behind his back. He hadn’t even strained himself.
Liu Yu’s veins chilled, scalp prickling.
His palm still throbbed from that strike. No servant disciple should wield such force. Even with Liu Yu holding back, this power matched the fifth stage of body refinement.
“You’ve hidden well,” Liu Yu hissed, icy eyes narrowing. “But raw strength alone won’t save you.”
“Oh?”
Ye Yun scoffed, squinting mockingly.
Liu Yu raised his palm, a faint red haze blooming over it—like bloodstained skin glinting crimson under sunlight.
“Your crude tricks barely qualify as combat skills. True disciples learn Celestial Techniques. With enough cultivation, we’ll master Divine Arts!”
“Celestial Techniques rank first to ninth tier. My Blood Seal of the Absolute Pulse is ninth-tier, yet it crushes insects like you.”
“You had potential. But your arrogance blinds you to the true path of cultivation.”
Under the blood light, Liu Yu’s palm turned corpse-pale, veins and capillaries starkly visible. He admired it like priceless art.
A metallic stench thickened the air, spreading dozens of meters. Inhaling it stirred restless agitation.
Liu Daolie paled, chest tightening. Even distant servant disciples felt unease clawing at them.
This was a Celestial Technique? The weakest ninth-tier one? Truly beyond servant disciples’ reach.
Ye Yun stood motionless in the blood glow, face serene.
Yet abruptly, his brow twitched. A flicker of disturbance crossed his features—the blood light had breached his focus.
Liu Yu did not act immediately, allowing the gentle blood light to envelop Ye Yun.
"I’ll first shatter your mental state completely, let endless negative emotions corrode your soul, until you’re trapped between life and death. Only then will my hatred be satisfied."
He glared viciously at Ye Yun, his eyes flashing with viper-like malice that vanished as quickly as it appeared.
Ye Yun’s pale complexion and furrowed brows clearly showed the blood light had invaded his body, greatly affecting him.
"This is merely the start!"
Ye Yun frowned slightly. The blood light from the Blood Seal of the Absolute Pulse was indeed affecting him. As a servant disciple who’d only learned basic cultivation techniques, he had little defense against an outer disciple’s combat skills. When the blood light entered his body, an overwhelming irritation flooded through him.
But the moment the blood light began attacking his mind, black and white radiance erupted from his heart, shooting straight into his consciousness.
In that instant, Ye Yun witnessed the vision again.
Golden-armored warriors surged forward like tidal waves, filling every inch of space with crushing murderous intent. He knew even a wisp of this intent escaping to the servant disciple outer court would slaughter everyone present.
The murderous aura was overwhelming.
Golden light rolled violently as the killing pressure solidified.
The black and white light streaked closer – a towering black-robed man and an elegant white-clad woman. Yet despite straining his eyes, Ye Yun couldn’t discern their faces, only catching a faint shadow passing before the woman.
The vision vanished as quickly as it came. The black and white light then burst from Ye Yun’s mind, fracturing into countless beams that pierced through his meridians and bones, spreading to every cell.
Instantly, the invading blood light was purged completely.
All pressure dissipated, leaving Ye Yun unaffected.
Spiritual power churned like stormy seas within him.
A flicker of triumph crossed Ye Yun’s eyes before his frown deepened, his face bleaching white as if moments from collapsing under the blood light’s assault.
Liu Yu watched with a twisted grin, his crystalline blood-hued hand inching closer with each deliberate step, savoring the fear and despair consuming his victim.
What torment surpasses awaiting death?
Knowing your demise approaches yet being powerless to hasten it – this endless anticipation breaks even the strongest wills.
Smiling cruelly, Liu Yu extended his bloodied palm with lover’s tenderness toward Ye Yun’s face.
"How does this feel?" Liu Yu taunted, laughter dripping with mockery.
Ye Yun raised his eyes painfully.
Liu Yu’s heart lurched as needle-like pain stabbed between his brows.
In that split second, a ghastly smile twisted Ye Yun’s features.
Twin fists shot out in rapid succession – crude, direct punches devoid of technique.
The first blow smashed Liu Yu’s bloody palm, shattering the crimson glow and numbing his entire body with the impact.
CRACK!
A second fist ballooned in Liu Yu’s vision, crushing into his face.
Liu Yu screamed, blood spraying as he hurtled backward, skidding across the ground thirty meters away.
Ye Yun moved like lightning, spiritual power surging into his right leg for a brutal kick.
The barely-risen Liu Yu went airborne again.
"Call yourself a Tian Zhu Peak disciple?" Ye Yun growled, seizing Liu Yu’s hair and hurling him at Liu Daolie’s feet.
Liu Daolie stared blankly at the crumpled form beside him, mind paralyzed by the shockwave of the impact.
"Death’s too merciful. You’ll pay through living."
Suppressing his murderous urge, Ye Yun strode forward and planted his boot on Liu Yu’s face.
