Chapter 433: The Eyes of the Moon Goddess
The Moon Goddess, the ancient Moon Goddess!
Ye Yun stared at the exquisite female statue, marveling at her sharp shoulders and willow-like waist. Even from dozens of zhang away, the chilling aura emanating from the statue made his heart tremble, compelling an urge to kneel in worship.
This was merely a statue, yet it held such power. What terrifying presence would the real Moon Goddess possess?
"Who exactly is the Moon Goddess? Why are so many people kneeling here?"
Ye Yun scanned the area and saw hundreds of worshippers prostrating before the statue.
"Young Master doesn’t know the Moon Goddess? The Moon Goddess Palace—founded by her—is one of the Eight Major Sects dominating this vast land," Lao Cheng explained, surprised by Ye Yun’s ignorance.
"I’ve heard of the Moon Goddess Palace from clan elders, but not in detail. If it’s among the Eight Major Sects, how does the Great Qin Empire compare?" Ye Yun squinted curiously.
Lao Cheng glanced around nervously and lowered his voice. "Be cautious, Young Master. Moon Goddess Square is filled with her devotees. Comparing the Moon Goddess Palace to the Great Qin Empire might offend them."
Ye Yun blinked. "Surely a casual remark won’t matter?"
Lao Cheng shook his head. "The Moon Goddess Palace stands above mere empires. The Great Qin Empire is just one of dozens under their rule. While Great Qin’s strongest cultivators reach sainthood—the immortal realm—such saints are insignificant within the Moon Goddess Palace."
Ye Yun’s expression tightened, yet excitement flickered in his eyes. To reach such heights, he’d need to grow stronger swiftly.
"Enough delays. Let’s find Zhuge Chong of the Divine Grace Palace," Ye Yun said, turning away.
As his gaze brushed the statue again, the Moon Goddess’s eyes suddenly transformed—starry pupils piercing him with glacial intensity.
Ye Yun’s soul shuddered violently, nearly shattering his mental defenses. Only his robust spirit prevented collapse. When he steadied himself, the statue’s eyes had reverted—yet the bone-chilling coldness lingered in his heart.
"Young Master?" Lao Cheng asked, noticing Ye Yun’s abrupt pause.
"Nothing. Let’s go."
South of the square stood a modest platform surrounded by a dense crowd.
"That’s the spot!" Lao Cheng pointed.
Ye Yun frowned. "This shabby place hosts Divine Grace Palace’s disciple selection?"
"Selection ended three days ago, after I finished my closed-door cultivation," Lao Cheng said.
"Then what’s happening there now?"
"Gamblers watching a fighting ring, not sect business."
"Why bring me here?" Ye Yun demanded.
"The Divine Grace Palace’s capital branch lies behind that platform," Lao Cheng clarified.
Ye Yun sighed. They bypassed the platform and soon reached a grand hall glowing faintly yellow, its walls constructed of unknown illusion-like material. The ten-zhang-tall structure had a plain white roof and towering doors bearing golden rings. Above the entrance hung a plaque: Divine Grace Palace.
"Halt! Identify yourselves!"
Two black-clad youths barred their path, spears in hand and murderous intent in their eyes.
Lao Cheng swallowed nervously. "This… this is Young Master Ye Yun, invited by Zhuge Chong."
The guards’ hostility vanished instantly. One stepped forward and bowed. "Young Master Ye, Brother Chong awaits. Follow me."
As Ye Yun followed, Lao Cheng tried to join but was stopped. "Only Ye Yun may enter."
Ye Yun waved dismissively. "Wait at the Alchemy Cauldron Building."
Inside, winding paths led through pavilions and bridges until they reached a small courtyard with pale yellow walls.
"Brother Chong is inside," the guard said before leaving.
Ye Yun entered—and the world shifted.
The tranquil courtyard vanished, replaced by a circular arena. Surrounding him were hundreds of beasts radiating monstrous auras, enough to terrify any foundation establishment stage cultivator.
