Chapter 401: The Secret of Duan Guangchen
Duan Guangchen’s dragon-headed treasure blade slashed through the air, its wild strength splitting into four parts that merged with the Hidden Dragon Guards’ attacks.
Guided by the blade light, the four beams of light instantly fused into a massive divine rainbow that crashed toward Ye Yun.
The power within this strike surpassed all imagination—no Foundation Establishment cultivator could withstand it. Even a first-level Golden Core expert would hesitate to face such force.
Duan Guangchen believed Ye Yun stood no chance. At best, he’d be gravely wounded. Revealing the Hidden Dragon Guards pained him, for these secret assassins had cost immense training resources. Countless Foundation Establishment experts had been slain, their cultivation and bloodlines extracted through secret techniques and fused into the guards. Only four survived after absorbing the others’ power.
Raised by the royal family since childhood, their coordination surpassed even that of blood brothers. The Four Symbols Slaughter Formation merged their attacks, multiplying their strength tenfold through the array. Neither Duan Guangchen nor Hua Yun could survive such an assault. Ye Yun’s fate seemed sealed—death or crippling injury.
The black energy arrived in an instant. Yet Ye Yun stood motionless, his Purple Shadow Sword’s glow dimming as if sucked into the blade itself.
Just before the strike landed, the sword trembled. A violet light tore through space, striking the four Hidden Dragon Guards first. Simultaneously, the black energy pierced Ye Yun’s body, reducing it to near-nothingness.
*Boom!*
The guards’ chests exploded, blood spraying like macabre fireworks. Duan Guangchen showed no remorse—only triumph. The formation’s full power had hit Ye Yun’s heart. Flesh should’ve shattered, the soul maimed. No treasures dropped, proving the attack’s overwhelming force.
“Pity,” Duan Guangchen muttered. “Extracting his bloodline and laws would’ve been worth a hundred guards.” He leaped past the dying guards toward Ye Yun’s fading body.
But the remnants dissolved into light and shadow. “Too late!” Duan Guangchen sighed. “His bloodline could’ve propelled me to Nascent Soul…”
“Pity? My bloodline and laws?”
Duan Guangchen whirled. Ye Yun stood behind him, unharmed.
“Impossible!” The king’s face paled. “Even Golden Core experts can’t survive that strike!”
Ye Yun smirked. “Why block what you can dodge?”
“The array locks its target! Only spatial law masters escape!”
“Correct.” Ye Yun clapped. “I’m not Golden Core… but I do control spatial laws. Your grasp seems weaker than Hua Yun’s.”
Duan Guangchen staggered back. “Kill me, and Jin Kingdom falls into chaos!”
“I won’t kill you.” Ye Yun advanced. “I’ll take your cultivation and emperor’s bloodline. Communicating with divine dragons sounds useful.”
Horror gripped Duan Guangchen. Losing the royal bloodline meant eternal disgrace. “Take my treasures! The throne! Three thousand concubines! Just spare me!”
“Why bargain with what’s already mine?” Ye Yun’s palm-blade rose.
“Wait! A secret—the Great Qin Empire’s royal treasure!”
Ye Yun paused. “Speak.”
Sweating, Duan Guangchen whispered, “The imperial vault… it’s real.”
