Chapter 376: Great Demon Divine Art
"Unfeeling Heavenly Sword, Ten Thousand Paths of Rebirth!"
In an instant, the sky seemed torn open by countless dark voids, each exhaling halos of light as if immense suction sought to rip Sage Huo Yun apart and swallow him into the abyss.
Murong Wuqing’s talent was unparalleled. Having just broken into the Golden Core stage, his power had multiplied tenfold. With his Golden Core still stabilizing, his strength continued to climb.
This sword strike fused all his will, strength, courage, and bone-deep pride. Had Bi Hao witnessed it, even he would’ve trembled in awe.
Though Sage Huo Yun had survived the heavenly tribulation, his true qi growth paled next to his comprehension of heavenly laws and soul refinement. Yet this strike transcended such principles. Even as a seventh-level Golden Core expert, he couldn’t counter it with heavenly laws—only raw power.
Sage Huo Yun’s eyes sharpened. His fingers flicked, casting spell formulas that materialized into an intricate rune hovering midair.
“Dragon Pattern True Fire!”
At his command, the rune shattered into rippling waves of golden flames, layering into a shield before him.
Ye Yun and the others gaped. A seventh-level Golden Core expert, nearing peak strength, chose defense over offense against a newly ascended Golden Core cultivator? Unthinkable!
The colossal heavenly sword slammed into the fiery barrier. Blazing light erupted as flames clashed, sending shockwaves tearing outward. The earth quaked violently; even Tian Shen Peak, protected by its great formation, shuddered before crumbling. Stones flew, ash blotted the sky, and daylight dimmed for miles.
Such was the sword’s might that even Sage Huo Yun dared not meet it head-on.
The heavenly sword breached the flames, hurtling toward its target. Amid swirling ash and firelight, Sage Huo Yun stood unharmed, calm replacing earlier surprise. His hands wove spells, conjuring defenses.
“Settle the Central Plains!”
A spectral three-legged cauldron materialized above, crashing onto the sword with crushing force. The unstoppable blade halted mid-strike, pinned beneath the illusion.
As light and flames faded, Sage Huo Yun hovered, intrigued. “Murong Wuqing—impressive name, cultivation, talent, and methods.”
Murong Wuqing stared back coldly.
“Join me,” offered Sage Huo Yun, murderous intent fading. “Capture Shui Qingxuan and her daughter for the Xuan Yuan Sect, and I’ll take you as my disciple.”
“Shameful words from a seventh-level expert,” Murong Wuqing sneered, pale from exertion. That strike had drained him completely.
Sage Huo Yun’s voice chilled. “So you choose death.”
Murong Wuqing laughed wildly, then turned and bowed deeply to Shui Qingxuan. “Madam Su. The rest… is yours.”
Ye Yun’s group froze in confusion. Sage Huo Yun stiffened, sudden dread flashing across his face as he stared at Shui Qingxuan.
She stepped forward, serene. “You’ve seen through my plan. I would’ve acted regardless.”
Su Hao’s heart lurched. “Qingxuan! What madness is this?”
“Twenty years as your wife was my blessing,” she said gently. “Now, raise our daughters well.”
“Mother!” Su Ling rushed forward, only to be halted by an invisible force.
“Ling’er,” Shui Qingxuan commanded, soft yet unyielding, “Live fully. Honor your father. Forget today.” Her gaze hardened as she faced Sage Huo Yun. “You know what comes next. I’ll burn my demon soul to unleash the Great Demon Divine Art.”
The sage recoiled. “You’ve not mastered it! This suicide won’t work—stop! Return with me, and all live!”
“Empty threats,” she scoffed. “Should I surrender, my family would charge to their deaths at your sect. Only your end secures theirs.”
“You’ll vanish from existence!” he warned, flames erupting around him as he fled.
Shui Qingxuan raised a hand, blue light dancing at her fingertips. “You cannot escape.”
“Great Demon Divine Art!”
