Chapter 329: Divine Thunder Annihilation
Ye Yun’s voice was cold and devoid of emotion.
Though he asked who else dared challenge him, his gaze remained fixed on Elder Shi as if provoking him to step forward.
Elder Shi, the Grand Elder of Heavenly Sword Sect, hadn’t been disrespected like this for decades. Worse still, Ye Yun was merely an inner disciple yet spoke with such blatant arrogance.
"Seeking death!" Elder Shi’s face darkened. "Do you truly believe Su Hao can protect you?"
Su Hao opened his mouth to speak, but Ye Yun waved him off. "If my Master intervened, you’d be dead already. Let’s settle this on the Judgment Platform. Should I win by even the slightest margin, you’ll retreat into seclusion and never meddle in sect affairs again. Meddling requires strength you clearly lack."
The barb struck deep. Though framed as a duel, this was designed to humiliate Elder Shi regardless of outcome.
Having climbed to power within the sect, Elder Shi understood perfectly. His hands trembled with suppressed rage, murderous intent blazing in his eyes.
His status? How could he duel a junior? Victory would brand him a bully; defeat meant eternal ridicule.
"A mere inner disciple dares challenge an elder? You trample upon sect laws!" Elder Shi barked, "Chen Tianyun! Instruct your junior brother in humility!"
Chen Tianyun, mostly recovered from Su Hao’s earlier sword wound, stepped forward.
"Master, remain calm. Junior Brother’s youthful recklessness embarrassed us before Mr. Mei. I’ll discipline him gently." His smile oozed false benevolence.
"Show restraint. He remains sect kin." Elder Shi nodded, feigning composure.
Chen Tianyun turned to Ye Yun. "Your talent is rare in Heavenly Sword Sect’s history. But talent doesn’t excuse disrespect. Today’s lesson will be light—just enough to remind you of your place."
Ye Yun chuckled. "They say you’re kindhearted, admired by female disciples, a model of elegance. Seems accurate."
Chen Tianyun inclined his head with practiced grace.
"Pure horseshit." Ye Yun’s smile vanished. "Cultivators seek the Dao’s truth. What value lies in a pretty shell? Since you’ll ‘teach’ me, I’ll thank you now. But know this—I won’t hold back."
A murderous glint flashed in Chen Tianyun’s eyes. "Since you insist, this lesson shall be… memorable."
Ye Yun laughed. "Drop the act. To the Judgment Platform if you crave death!"
He vanished, reappearing on the stone platform. Chen Tianyun followed, face flushing crimson.
"Brother Wuqing, my thanks." Ye Yun bowed to Murong Wuqing, who still stood nearby.
Murong Wuqing studied him impassively before nodding. "Show no mercy."
"Never considered it."
In a blur, Murong Wuqing vanished, reappearing beside Yan Changchun without granting Chen Tianyun even a glance.
Chen Tianyun’s rage peaked. Being dismissed by Murong Wuqing was bad enough, but the warning implied Ye Yun could kill him!
"Show me what impressed that fool!" Chen Tianyun snarled, shedding all pretense of dignity.
"Eager to die?" Ye Yun sneered. "How pathetic."
Respect had died when Chen Tianyun conspired with Ouyang Wentian to slay Su Hao. Now? Only contempt remained.
"Endure three strikes and I’ll leave!" Chen Tianyun growled.
Ye Yun bared his teeth. "Strike me thrice then flee? No. I’ll kill you here—one less hypocrite blights this world."
Chen Tianyun lunged, hand carving a crimson arc through the air.
"Star-Sundering Palm!"
The attack fell like a meteor. A direct hit would reduce flesh to pulp.
Ye Yun glanced upward, smirk curling. Thunder roared as lightning enveloped him.
BOOM!
The palm strike cratered the platform, shockwaves battering spectators. Many gasped—had the braggart been crushed?
"All bark, no bite!" a disciple jeered.
"Wait—look!"
Chen Tianyun whirled as hundreds of lightning bolts erupted around him, coalescing into a churning storm cloud overhead.
"Divine Thunder Annihilation!"
Ye Yun stood beneath the roiling darkness, violet lightning crackling across his body—a thunder deity made flesh. With one finger thrust, the storm obeyed, bolts converging into a thick purple spear aimed at Chen Tianyun’s heart.
